What kind of magnifying head visor is Steve using in this video, and what's the focal length and magnification of this? I recently bought me a head band as well, but was quite disappointed with the focal length. The accompanying information booklet, however, mentioned that for greater focal length magnification would be less. However, Steve seems to be able to work at quite an acceptable distance from the head visor...
I think it's a Donegan Optivisor not sure which model. I know it has interchangeable lenses for different magnifications. Generally yes the longer focal length the lesser the magnification. I will say though Steve's eyes are very accustomed to his work and whether age related or not. He has to be a lot further from an object for his eyes to focus on it in comparison with mine through both the visor and microscope. I can't practically use his visor with specimens in the dust chamber seen here as I cant realistically get close enough to the specimen with it on.
@@TheEtchesCollection Thanks! Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I also have the Donegan Optivisor, but have come to find its utility limited for me, exactly because of the difficulty finding the right balance between zoom and focal length. But as I know a lot of other perpetrators use them, I was wondering how they make it work for them. For the time being I still prefer my magnifying lamp 😅
