I was NOT expecting this but omg!!! TWICE was the group that got me into kpop cause their songs are all so colorful and fun! If you want somewhere to start their 2021 album Formula of Love is basically the Future Nostalgia of K-Pop just complete disco craziness. I would also recommend just going through their classic songs like FANCY, Feel Special, What is Love?, Talk That Talk. They all have amazing music videos and are some of the best kpop songs ever made! STAN TWICE RAHHH!
Look Im one of those guys where if you saw me walking on the street you would think that dude kills people, meanwhile i'm bumpin Twice LOL. Honestly their music just makes you happy and gets you hyped, they are my favorite group of girls because they are all cute and make great music and off screen they are a bunch of hectic, funny humble group of girls. GO Twice!!

As a K-pop fan, I think you hit the nail on the head with your points around the crazy music videos and super bright music; K-pop is basically pop music on acid. It's what I've always loved about it, it's the best music to escape and relax to because at the same time as being damn good music, it's just so fantastical and wacky. I'd love to see you explore some more K-pop groups, because aside from including a wide range of different styles and genres, K-pop is one of the only genres in which male pop artists still have to really put in the work creatively (I say this as someone whose Apple Music Replay for this year didn't include a single non-Korean male artist except for David Bowie). There's something for everyone really, and whether you're looking for bright or dark, cute or aggressive, bubblegum pop or R&B, hip hop or EDM, mature or youthful, you're likely to find at least one group that appeals to you!

The world of K-pop is huge, so obviously you can't check out everybody's recommendations, but I think the group that everyone here is mentioning, Red Velvet, is a great next step. They've tried out a lot of different styles and released music in a number of different genres. If you thought the bejewelled knives were a fun addition, you'd definitely like Red Velvet.
