When these shows aired I was working and missed them all; great stories.
Pleasant enough viewing during lockdown - some ok stories; best way to enjoy then is to skip past every Dom DeLuise scene (I know - whereas they're meant to be moments of 'light comic relief', they're actually irritating, pointless minute-killers; mere padding).Just sayin'.

The lipstick testing segment was very close to the original Burkes Law in Black and White. He was a ladies man and always had the best quips for women who tried to bed him. He liked to chase and hated women who chased him.

Penny Santon was a great character actress and so is Loretta Swit. Robert Culp is a legend. Nancy was a solid actress.. The trope of poisoning with venom is well used in fiction and handled well here.

This is where the story comes from. A little research would do people good.
On July 30, 2002, an Anchorage news station reported that the crew of a fishing vessel near Prince of Wales Island found a penguin amid the fish pulled in by a seiner net. It stood about 20 inches tall, and waddled around the deck. One of the crew members released it back into the sea.
A penguin expert at the University of Washington identified the bird as a Humboldt Penguin. I’m not sure if the identification was based on photographs or the crew’s description. But this is the first time any penguin has ever been documented in Alaska, or, indeed, in any of the United States, including Hawaii. Penguins have virtually never been reported in the Northern Hemisphere anywhere, so the situation has ornithologists baffled. No one knows if this was one very lost individual penguin or if it was in a group. I would guess that the El Nino currents that have been bringing unusual southern fish and other ocean creatures to the California coast is at least partly responsible.

Penny Santon was famous for playing Italian mamas and grandmas. On Laverne and Shirley she was Laverne's grandma on the 2 episodes when they went to NYC for the Italian festival.

They also constantly say this or that fingerprint didn't match this or that suspect, but most of the suspects have no fingerprints on record because they have no priors. Fingerprints are on record only after an arrest.

@T Z well, we have all been warned the magnetic poles are due to flip again sometime soon. Maybe penguins are acclimated to a certain polarity and will have to be rescued to the arctic and our little guy was a scout?

I was always disappointed that Gary Conway never made a guest appearance as his character from the original series, Tim Tilson. I would assume that by the time of this remake, he would be a captain in another precinct; the same rank Gene Barry was in the original.
DELOUISE --- What a waste> Certainly some other actor with better sub-script, would have been an easier and much better choice for this production. Thought Carol Lynley was in this episode.

This is a reboot, but it has none of the humor and cool that the original version had in Season 1 and 2. This is more like Murder She Wrote: no personality.
It's a sequel. A reboot would mean a completely new actor reprising the role of Burke.
