    Another glitch- If you have a widescreen monitor, a glitch exists where the User Interface stays in the middle of the screen and doesn't move to the outer edges of the screen like it should. This ends up partially obscuring your view of the race. This glitch was in 22 as well before it got patched.

    You bring up many good points, many I agree with. However, I disagree when you mentioned changing “broken” parts being a bug. The parts get inspected after every race, if they pass it means it’s still in top condition. They fail and they can’t be used again. Aero Parts irl don’t lose performance unless they are damaged so this system is realistic in a way. The % represents how close the part is to failing. Also if teams irl had to build a new car for reliability reasons the cost cap would be breached rather quickly.

      You make a fair argument...however, as mentioned on occasion I might want to overule the game and make that switch anyway.
      Pretty sure redbull don't put a 50% working rear wing on either of their cars....but I do see your point 😃

    Great review.
    My issue is that it is NOT a team management game.
    It makes a nod to it, but its a shallow experience. What this is, is a race engineer sim that forces you to hire two race engineers anyway.
    It lags lightyears behind 20+ year old games like Grand Prix World, that were deep and replayable enough that if you didnt have time to manage races.. it didn't matter. There was a rich game for you to play.
    The devs back then recognised that that a realistic f1 management game isnt going to provide an amazing experience at the track.. Just like real f1, most of the time theres not much for you to actually do but you have to remain focussed to do it.
    Thats not traditionally considered appealing gaming nor is it respectful of gamers with limited time. Its more like working the night shift at a biscuit factory than an engaging game.
    But the depth of the macro tram management, contracts and negotations, rule changes and new/departing suppliers, genuine talent development and more.. a game nearly three decades old wipes the floor with these new titles in every level but visually.
    Thats inexcusable and reflects a poor understanding of the market.. as shown by how many dropped last years game within two weeks.

    Thanks for the honest review. I bought F1 Manager 22 and returned it. Found it boring and shallow. Sad, but not surprised, to hear they haven’t made any big leaps. And those that say they made significant improvements-that may be right, but they’re going to turn this into FIFA and Madden. Small adjustments every year and charge full price for features that should have been in the original game. Buying this game only enables this nonsense. The fact they stripped developing F1 Manager 22 after three months, tells you everything you need to know. You’ll get “create a team” in F1 Manager 32. Multiplayer? That will be F1 Manager 47. This is the fundamental problem with yearly franchise games. For every year now, you’re buying 3-4 minor features/improvements, and lineup/track changes. It’s not a scam. They’re pretty clear with what they’re doing.

      This year's iteration should have been just a DLC for the last year's game, at a cost of a maximum 20 pounds/euros! This way no-one would have complained for receiving only "3-4 minor features/improvements, and lineup/track changes"... but no, no, no... they need to squeeze our wallets like a lemon because they think we're all stupid and pay their price! 😂

  • @jamesallen29
    @jamesallen29 10 месяцев назад +5

    I never bought the first and have considered buying the second but it sounds like my reservations still hold true: I’d rather they spent less time on visuals and a LOT more on depth. Look at football manager. It never made any attempts to look as realistic as FIFA and as a result is one of the best games out there. If I’m playing a racing manager I want multiple series to choose from and a larger driver pool. We see drivers switch between the junior series to F1, Indy car and WEC all the time. I want that in an F1 manager

    My biggest gripe from 2022 version was the Ai cars always finished a race unless they crashed, they never had failed parts like a gearbox failing etc.
    Watched a few vids from various places, seems like the ai go 2 abreast on corners to the point where it happens far too often. I suppose it's hard to get the balance right between entertaining and outright boredom of a train.
    You mentioned tyre blowouts, is that for the other ai drivers also or just your own cars? That's at least a step in the right direction, but still want realism with other ai's having failed parts.
    Good review, I'll pass on this until they make it worth playing, just seems like too many things once again need improving.

    Thanks for the review. My concern about 23 is based on my experience with "longevity" with 22. You just need to go forward with research, no matter which team you picked, you would have fun for 2 seasons, then by 3rd, you'll be ahead of the pack byu a margin. 22 didn't have much longevity in that sense, and i fear it will be the same with 23 (and i don't see anyone addressing that point). Buying a manager game for just 2-3 season of fun seems off to me

    • @SimUKReviews
      @SimUKReviews  10 месяцев назад

      Interestingly a fellow friend/player and I compared opponents stats, and mine were MUCH higher than his (F1 Manager 2022); which meant my game was much tougher.....not sure why?
      So toom me 5 seasons to complete for 2nd spot....and maybe season 6 to win outright.
      Worth noting i didn't do ANY research for the first 2 years, which didn't help lol.
      So longevity is a problem for sure....but maybe not all ai advancements are always the same, you might find the pack are harder like I did??
      Would require a few complete seasons to really check I guess.

    Best review so far, honest and tough over the game. Another missing feature could be the inclusion of a weather radar like we can see on the pit wall of teams. Now we aren't meteorologists yet make it a little easier to understand and it would just be so immersive, giving us another responsibility not just looking at an unrealistic graph.

    So sale price only then? Sounds good to me!
    I'll also never understand why they had to substantially increase the price this year, plus the fact that there won't be a discount for a pre-sale or even a 'loyalty' discount if '22 was bought. when a management game is both released on consoles and pc, pc usually gets a better version more adapted to big screens or mouse gameplay. the sims was bad on consoles, civilization revolution wasn't a good episode, and even sim city 2000 on ps1 wasn't an aestonishing derivated from the pc franchise. why on earth a management game released on console has the exact poor gameplay on pc? the devs are lazy. the iu is approximatly correct, the graphic are approximatively decent, everything in the game is approximative and not a single detail was well cared. even the audio don't match the scenery, and there is sound bugs at many occasions.

      @@SimUKReviews ah is it . Nice . I’ve played 22 . Not really into sports games that release every year. That’s just me though. Tend to get them every two years. Might be a rare exception now and then . Like I have Alonso and Norris in my team in 22 . I wouldn’t want to start a new save. I just got 22 less than 6 months ago cheap like £9.99. Guess this is for the hardcore F1 fans. I’ll wait for F1 Manager 24 😄.

    I'm enjoying it. Most the issues are because of me tbh. I just feel this is the second iteration of the game so a bit of slack can be cut for stuff. Look how long football manager took to get to where it is now and it's still improving. The mod community is highly active too

    This game is way overpriced. Should have been $30 and anyone that owns F1 22 should have been able to purchase the game for $15. I own F1 22 and just can't see shelling out $55 dollars for an update.
