  • I posted a before & after driver lesson on my Instagram @golfwithaimee
My student was pulling through, causing her to hit it short in distance and causing her to slice. I helped fix her pull through in 15 minutes. So many of you guys wanted to know how I fixed it!
Today I will share the secret and show you the 4-step drill I used. It is a super effective drill to fix your follow through!
    I hope you enjoy!

Only an LPGA star can have a finer swing. Your velvet smooth fundamentally perfect swing is the result of an uncluttered mind. Most players are so bound up in thought they bind their body up along with it. That is the biggest difference between the pro and the wannabes. I know I've tried to extend in this perfect triangle so many times when the simpler, more athletic move is to fold and extend. It's common sense that a tightened left arm can't possibly throw a frisbee, or anything else as well. This is my new driver swing thought going forward. You are quite possibly the most natural golf instructor in the world. Keep the videos coming and I'll keep learning how much smarter you are than the rest of us!

That was actually shockingly quite awesome. I loved the way u said if the triangle gets squished again after drill then it's something with the body. Awesome awesome. Way to go. Thanks

I was finally able to get this feeling of throwing with a driver resulting in 10-15 yard longer and finding fairways except one on the edge rough this past Sat and Sun, and beating my partners. Aimee’s driver lessons are so priceless. I can’t thank her enough. J in LA

Recently discovered for myself, how much better this right sided downswing throwing motion , activated with the right oblique works with all the clubs. Too bad I've wasted 30 years, trying numerous ways to pull with the left side to start the downswing. I've also found a setup change that is very compatible with a right side dominant downswing. After setting up normally with everything square, I do a slight closing of the right hip/oblique and shoulder as a pre-set before swinging. Since making these two changes, all of my shots are very straight or draws. Thanks Aimee for your excellent instruction.

Notice many people don't grasp why you show that your left arm is bent, when doing the whipping through example. It is just another one of why I like that you exaggerate the tips/lessons to get rid of the tightness or faults. If they watch you with the real swinging of club, your left arm is straight and both are straight, forming the triangle. With the right elbow pointing to hip. GREAT LESSON!

Great stuff, thanks Aimee. Reflecting on your informative video: For a right handed golfer it seems that pulling still engages the right part of the body (outside in swing/cutting across) and stalls the hips/crunches the left obliques, vs throwing is left arm dominant works with extending obliques , which creates a shallow swing, in to in and divot in front of the ball (for irons, lol).

Love your swing and videos Aimee. Here's something I picked up watching videos about Hogan. It appears you do this also even if you are not conscious of it. Firstly coming through impact, the right elbow is bent and below the left arm. Secondly, the wrist cock is maintained or held thru impact...no flipping of the wrists. Thirdly, what you don't show in your slow motion demo is that prior to impact, you are clearing your hips by about 45 degrees. In your slow motion demo, it looks like your hips stay square to the target but in all good pros, this does not happen. All good pros have about 45 degree hip turn at impact. Your thoughts?

When lining up a shot, I always think in terms of two railroad tracks. One for the ball. One for the front of my feet. When practicing this drill, do I point my elbow and/or hand on the throw thru drill to the target on the "balll track" or "feet track"?

  • @michaelmazzei9037

Question: During the drill when you throw your left elbow through while pointing to the target, your left arm is bent. However, during the actual swing the left arm stays mostly straight as you maintain the swing triangle, is this correct? I was taught to maintain a straight left arm. Is this important or should I not focus on this particular swing thought?

I use this same concept, and it's one of the best concepts to apply in the driver swing. Just imagine throwing a frisbee to a person inline with your target. I usually pick out a patch of grass, or a piece of debris. My only difficulty is using the same concept with my irons, and fairway woods. I've had to develop another concept for those clubs.

I like the words you said "relax your arms" (upper and lower) as you throw your hands to a full follow through. But, the technique for throwing full is the grip. The grip must be tighter at the full follow through, by around plus 10%, so that you can turn your body and turn your body as fast as you can (just like throwing an ax or a baseball bat, at full follow through, you should not loosen your grip).
