I often remember growing up in the 80's with this kind of singing in Church ⛪. Oh how l miss those days, there is none of this anymore and the younger generation does not know any of it.

True churches do sing like this still. If your church sings the contemporary feel-good radio Christian music (nothing wrong with it, but it doesn’t belong in church) it’s time to find a new church.

If you grew up in a Church in the sixties and seventies you know the value of these hymns. They are the actual words of our Lord hinself. O how I wish the Churches would return to singing hymns.

Old Hymns have alot of good sound doctrine in it. CCM is vague and too shallow in doctrine

This is one of the first songs I ever sang in harmony in the church choir at the age of 12. I can't believe I remembered so many of the words. I will be 75 in about a month.

It's a shame what passes for "church music" these days. When my family moved to a new area I sent out over a dozen emails to local churches letting them know we were looking for a church home. I specified that we wanted a Bible teaching, soul winning, hymn singing congregation. One that did not pollute Sunday mornings with rock music. I got back ZERO responses.
I grew up in church with all these songs. They're all still in my head, no book needed. I'm glad I grew up singing & playing these old hymns.
I did to every Sunday we’d go. I just loved getting together we had a great time. We moved
in 1982 and my daughter with her lovely friends are still friends today. That was the Sunday School teachers doings. Ring up one another and talk to them. God is good. Only 5 girls there was.

So much goodwill and joy in the Lord here, and it's all facilitated by music that contains solid doctrine. Oh that our contemporary Christian music composers would stick closer to the scriptures. This was so so good.

These old time hymns are most uplifting.
In my travels, during the 70's- 90's, for my job and to see family, I could always go to any Baptist church and know the songs and sing heartily to the Lord because I knew them. Even when traveling to foreign countries, I at least knew the song because of the tune of the hymn the church was singing. Sadly, I can't do that now. The majority of the churches now use the newer songs. Thank the Lord for forum's like this that we can still sing together, especially during this time of Covid. Thank you Lord
I remember singing this song when I was 16. Today I am 67 and the message of the song still the same true; Jesus and HIS wonderful grace.
Outstanding musical talent all around, the choir, group of gospel singers, instrumentals (especially Stan Whitmire) and fantastic, enthusiastic audience, which no one can direct like Gerald can. Wonderful days from my childhood, even little country churches sang their hearts out any time the doors were open...these old church hymns are so dear to my heart.

Yes don't they have the lead in the chorus? Hymnals could show all four parts but overhead is showing the men's "Wonderful the matchless grace of Jesus..Deeper than the mighty rolling sea"...I used to get lost singing this. What a blast, probably the original "clap after you sing it" song!
@@janetflier6192 if sung in A or Bflat you'd reach the high notes. It would be Eflat or F. I transposed it into those keys as I sat at home by my piano and i find the high notes reachable.

Sometimes at the evening service we could request songs for congregation singing I would always request this song page 449 in the hymnal. All those voices lifts me up. Praise His Name!

My home Church in American Samoa Manumalo still uses these hymns. Praise the Lord. We sing in both our native language and in English. Please pray for all the churches, that we learn to glorify the Lord.
I think we at the moment should have monthly gatherings to singvthebold gospel songs it lifts the soul when I feel low or unwell I listen to the singing it makes me feel more loved and positive about things also brings back memories of my mum who was a Pentecostal lady made sure we attended church every sunday god bless everyone xx

I learned this song for a Sunday School Anniversary at Unley Park Baptist Churn in Adelaide, South Australia, when I was just 6 years old; it's been a favourite ever since, especially when we can sing the parts in the chorus!
Back in the 80's in my teenage years, my uncle, now deceased, taught the young people's choir that song. This was at the small mountain church in Jamaica where l grew up. I sang tenor at that time and after so many years I can remember almost every note. Such a beautiful song as also the words. Today July 03,2023 and I've listened to this song so many times.

Love this old hymn. The wonderful matchless Grace of Jesus was sent to me by the Holy Spirit as I was in prayer prior to going to bed. I opened my Bible and beginning with Matthew I read and saw His Grace demonstrated in all the throngs of people seeking healing and spiritual food.
Went to one these last year. Talk about some spirit filled singing! Every Christian should go to one of these if it all possible! I traveled 4 1/2 hours and it was well worth it!!!

I am so glad to hear this type of congregational singing again with the traditional songs, but I'm a tad dismayed at the number of people that don't seem to know the words. I don't even have to look at the book. I hope this becomes a trend and that the rock concerts are left to the Rolling Stones and Britney Spears.

I am grateful to say that I am a born again Christian and have been since I was 19.......I am grateful that we can gather together whether it’d be church congregation choir where two or more are gathered in his name there he will also be! However folks if you don’t know Christ as your savior then it burdens my soul to think that you are headed for a terrible place called Hell where the Bible says the fire is never quenched and the worm dies not! Folks you are not promised tomorrow! If you want to know how to be saved from this horrible reality then please by all means don’t hesitate to comment right back so I can lead you to the savior! 2 Corinthians 6:2 clearly states “now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation!” And Hebrews 3:15 clearly states, “Today if you hear his voice don’t harden your hearts! it is not me but the Holy Spirit that I pray reveals to you the truth of his precious gospel......John 3:16 says for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes on him will not perish but have everlasting life! V 17 says then V 18 says whoever believes on the son is not condemned but whoever does not believe on the son is condemned already because he has not believed on the son whom God has sent! Also Acts 16:30-31 what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house I am not threatening anyone but just warning them what will happen if they reject this precious gift of eternal life! Christ died a horrible criminals death! He was beaten brutally mocked spit upon and endured countless hours of torture pain for all of our sins! Ppl go to hell because they reject that pardon for their sins! And Jesus is saying to them in Matthew 25:41 depart from me you cursed into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels! Hell was only prepared for Satan and his angels! It is not God who threatens anyone it is the craziness of rejecting the free pardon of salvation! It’s like if you’re in court you’ve committed a crime say you murdered someone! Now if you say to that Judge hey I know I’ve done a terrible thing of murdering that person but I hear you’re a good judge and so I know you’ll be fair to me...... the judge is going to reply well yes you’re right about one thing I am a good judge and because I’m a good judge I’m going to see to it that you’re punished and that justice is served! Well then all of a sudden someone you don’t even know comes forward and says you know what I know he’s committed the crime he’s committed and he deserves to go to jail but I really don’t want to see him go to prison so I’ll just go to prison for him so he can go free! So if you accepted that offer you’d be free to leave the courtroom but if you didn’t well you’d be crazy and go to prison yourself! Well that’s exactly how it was 2,000 years ago! He is God in human flesh and he came to this earth lived a perfect sinless life and even though he knew that we had sinned and because of our sins deserved to die miserably but he said no I don’t want to see them suffer so I will go and take their punishment for them! Even though he did absolutely nothing wrong still he chose to take the punishment for our sins so we can be set free from the power bondages and consequences of our disobedience to God! Romans 5:8 says For God commends his love toward us that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us! 1 John 2:2 says he was made to be the propitiation for our sins! And not just for our sins but the sins of the whole world! 2 Corinthians 5:21 He who knew no sin became Sin for us that we would be made his righteousness! The truth is if you had to get to Heaven by your own effort then you cannot do it! Because Romans 3:10 says there is not one that does good! No Not One! Romans 3:23 says For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God! Romans 6:23 says For the wages of sin is death! But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our lord! But the good news is Romans 10:9 If we confess with our mouth and believes in our hearts that Christ died for our sins then was raised from the dead we will be saved! V 10 For it’s with the heart we believe and it’s with the mouth confession is made unto salvation! God gave us 10 commandments to follow and we’ve broken every one of them! And because God is a good God he cannot allow our disobedience to him to go unpunished! Well then like I just mentioned above his son Jesus stepped forward and said no I don’t want to see them punished so I will take their punishment for them! Praise the lord Romans 10:13 says Whoever calls on the name of the lord shall be saved! And 1 Peter 1:4 you’re an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you! Christ clearly said in John 14:6 I am the way the truth and the life and no one comes to the father but through me! Acts 4:12 clearly states that there is no other name given unto Heaven or earth by which we must be saved as there is salvation in no other! I used to walk across the mountain in north Alabama to get to a wonderful church that had the old time singing and power of Hod. I wouldn't walk across the street to this modern mess they call church now days😢

All my young life in the Bible churches ,Des Plaines and Park Ridge Dad,Mom and I attended every Easter we sang,"Wonderful Grace of Jesus"....." He Lives"..... and "Up from the Grave He Arose".
