I had the privilege of being present when Jim Wetherington (Big Chief) directed the then legendary Golden Stairs Choir in Atlanta. Ca. 1970. I was stunned.
It would help if the people would smile while singing this great hymn. If they have experienced the wonderful grace of Jesus they, of all people, have the most to smile about.

Love this song. It makes want and sing and shout the wonderful Grace of Jesus.
This is one of my favorite hymns. The tune and the message bless my heart every time I sing or hear it. Love the song leader's enthusiasm! Only issue is that I've never cared for song leaders who tell the congregation that they can do better--comes across as insulting the people.
You ought to see it as motivation or encouragement to keep singing and to give your all for Christ. It's not an insult. If you're already singing your best, then what he's saying is not for you; just continue to sing.

It seemed to be kind of a poor testimony to see the worship leader and the congregation singing their hearts out, and then the three "leaders" on the right side just having their own conversation and joking and not participating. From 2:10 on. 03:50; 04:13 etc.

Love the message of this song! Consider a peppier tempo to match the leader's enthusiasm, which is quite apropos for the song.
The Leader sets the tempo. The musicians then follow what he sets.

I love, love, love this hymn. Most of the time when my family ( siblings and cousins) 4:18 sings together this is a must. We have all the parrs and sing with great enthusiasm.
