    Just a couple of observations. You have the description wrong. The basket (+) is the anode and the piece of lead is the cathode (-). The electrons passing from the anode create an area of persulfate or "peroxysulfate". Persulfate decomposes very quickly as it moves away from the anode. The gold is dissolved by the persulfate and converted to gold persulfate. As it moves away from the anode area, the persulfate decomposes and the gold drops out as elemental gold. It's better to reclaim these resources even if it is not at a profit as it keeps them from ending up in the landfill. After the initial cost of equipment and chemicals, the only thing that cant be re-used is the electricity. Too, the cell works better if the anode and cathode are directly facing each other. Lower your volts to below 6 and your amps to 2-3 and your cell will not heat as quickly.

    Does all the gold move to your lead anode? If so could you use a gold piece as an anode and keep using it so it keeps getting bigger after each use?

    So for example , from the sample bunch of plated pins you placed in the solution, how much gold is actually yielded ?? and from what weight of the pins placed ?

    HELP! I made a cell. Was reverse plating some high grade fiberoptic parts that worked okay. Then I dumped in some gold plated pins and there is no reaction only spark sounds coming from copper mesh. Also some other parts that deplete fine I will have to constantly move the parts around in the mesh the keep them contracting each other. Why cant I just dunk it in and it take the plating off whole batch. Why do I have to move them around to keep reaction going. Any ideas?

    Wouldn't it be possible to electroplate an ultra thin slice of another material, plating it over and over again until it has built up into a sizable nugget? Then cut out the impure core with a very thin blade? Would that bypass having to filter the sludge and melt into a nugget?

  • @jamesblackstone6863

    I have done this a lot meaning processed a lot of plated materials and yes if by magic the gold plating goes into the sludge where you can filter it and process it out. That's where I ran into issues. Filtering it with triple coffee filter's and then melting the black sludge and coffee filters using mapp gas.

      +StreetMachine18 Good question, the gold is in the chemical agent and it should be processed further to get pure gold.

    • @adrenalinemedia
      @adrenalinemedia  8 лет назад +2

      The gold will form very fine black sludge which then has to be filtered from the solution. No further chemical steps required but refining it later on to achieve very high purity. The filtering is a bit tricky since the acid is very aggressive, so dont try it unless you know how to do it. Another way is to simply dilute the acid with normal water. The gold then will settle on teh bottom and the acid becomes neutral. The acid has to be poured into the water . not the other way around or it can cause a hefty exothermal reaction!!! That is all just in brief, please read watch and learn how to do this first to avoid getting hurt!

  • @phillipag66
    @phillipag66 11 лет назад

    Sulfuric acid was used,the gold is still there.Just have to filter out the sludge and let it dry.Then wash the sludge twice and let it dry again.Then you can put it into a crucible and melt it,pour it.

  • @adrenalinemedia

    Paper filters usually are eaten up if you use concentrated sulfuric acid. The recovery of the gold from teh solution is the tricky part of this. So far I have not heard about any real easy way.

    well I have a silly question for you, I just put a few pins out of an old pentium chip in a bowl of sea salt and water mixed together just to see what would happen. It just kept setting there until most of the salt was around the rim. Than a quarters crystal fell in the bowl and I decided to leave it there and see what a low current might do.
    I now have what I think is called gold salt, as all of the gold is off the pins.... how would I go about electroplating that to something? I'm not sure if this information would help anyone trying to make money doing this but is more of a curiosity to me at this point.

      ***** Plating is 0.4-1 μm depending on quality. Purity is perhaps 90-95%. Density of gold is about 19.3 g/cm^3. Calculate the surface area of the pin and multiply by the plating thickness, the purity, the density and divide by the total weight of a pin.

    The gold will reduce and bond onto a small gage copper wire, then the copper wire can be dissolved using either nitric acid or "battery acid" (35% sulfuric) and hydrogen peroxide. That's what I've always used for reclaiming the deposited gold from circuit boards. Now I own a gold plating company and have someone else do it. lol.

Anyone got some links or a page with info. Im not trying to waste time for change & get cancer doing it.

      I do not know how you know it is 90%. If you ask for concentrated sulphuric acid you usually get 96% or 97%. For me it did not work with lower concentration. Lower conc. H2SO4 will eat up your copper as well.

    Earning money with this methode it´s seems impossible. Chemicals an tools cost alot of money. One computer Mainboard includes 1,5-3 $ Goldplating. And, yes i know that, because i'am layouting boards and make Goldplatings. Have you ever used your Calculater to calculte efforts and profits. And you should include the risks with hazardous chemicals and your timeefforts. It´s a unusual hobby, but with out industrial automatism and without recycling your chemicals it remains a hobby an no methode to earn money.

    • @adrenalinemedia
      @adrenalinemedia  11 лет назад +5

      Who say, that you have to use gold plated objects from a PC mainboard??? Any gold plated object can be used. And the acid is very cheap (1 l = 4€ on Amazon) and it will last forever. This demo shows a process that has been invented almost 100 years ago and is in use in professional gold recovery machines. Only that these machines will cost thousands.

      "Limited intellect" Ah yes, the typical youtube genius, try to appear smarter than the person that has called them out on a bone headed comment. lol
      The "process" is not the issue at hand. It's the fool and lazy mans attempt to believe he can make a living doing it, a real living. No your trailer park welfare check doesn't count as a living wage, sorry.
      It's like watching a kid collect aluminum cans for a week and then spend another day crushing the cans to make room for more cans. He could have mowed my lawn in 1hr and earned more $$ than he would have collected in cans in six months. GOT IT???? ***** Some people are interested in this type of stuff, not as a full-time income but either interest or perhaps a little extra $$ (not me, I'm just curious). If you scale this up, then you can make big $$ but the average person will buy the book and do nothing with it (as is the case with almost everything else in life). This isn't just for a few grams of gold.. you can do this to anything and get ounces of gold if you can get the right items.
      I recommend asking your doctor for something to curb your anger issues. You've got far too much confidence hiding behind your keyboard and with proper medication, you might be able to amount to something in society.
