I am not a professional as well, but lemme tell you that try to go with a bit of acetone on tips before aplying base. Just take an old brush, soak it in acetone and go over inside of tips (just part which you woul put base later). It will make the surface more rough and make the nails less like to lift. Try it and let me know XX :)))
I’m a nail tech and girl you are doing everything great. Seems like you are a professional and really did your research. I think it’s great that people learn how to do their nails at home instead of spending so much money at a salon. It gets crazy expensive and I know some people can’t afford it.

i have a whole highlight on instagram where I talk about it. long story short it doesn’t go away and i have an allergic reaction everytime i do my nails. if it’s contact dermatitis it never goes away

Lmao! As someone in the industry, I think it is petty and HILARIOUS that licensed nail techs would be mad. Why? Because you’ll still have customers. Not everyone is capable of doing their own nails, nor do they like it. Some people prefer being pampered and cared for by someone else. Or quite literally cannot do their own nails haha. If you can do it yourself, that’s amazing. It’s like saying nail techs can’t do their own nails. They MUST go to another tech lmao
Dude I went to nail school, failed the boards not once, but THREE frickin times. Meanwhile you should have a license just for being passionate about designs and nails. You are absolutely phenomenal and all your hard work is so amazing 💅💕

Kayli have you ever heard of acrylate allergies? Bc ive heard that you can develop them from using gel polish specifically from it touching your skin. Nvm you just metionioned it as i was typing this 😂

Awesome video! I'm not sure why the pro manicurists are mad that you're showing how to do this at home...many people would not have the time nor patience to do all of these steps themselves! Not to mention buying all of the required tools.

I love doing my nails as well and I want to be just like u when I am older. My mom buys me nail stuff when she can like I got my first drill not to long ago but we live over seas so it’s harder to buy things on Amazon and stuff. So I always have to make sue with what I have. I currently do Press on nails but I put on the plain press ons and then paint them. I watch you regularly and I enjoy your videos so much. There is so much I want to say in this comment but just know that you are great and keep up the great work.

professional nail tech here: we're not mad that you wanna do DIY nails at home, we're mad that a lot of people don't give proper instructions and straight up damage their hands and give themselves contact dermatitis (allergic reaction to the gel). Then people start to fearmonger that getting your nails done is harmful bc gel is toxic or bc the lamp gives you cancer (facepalm).
You have to understand that nail techs already aren't respected like other beauty professionals, people want to lowball us all the time. This fearmongering that resulted from, you guessed it, people doing their own nails at home is having a negative impact on us and it's honestly really disheartening considering we already have to "prove our worth" for a mere 20 bucks (this is a whole different conversation where people just don't wanna listen) when WE are the ones that went through school, are educated on different aspects of health, product, hand anatomy, safety, blabla, practice the actual skills of doing nails professionally, getting our licence, running a business, etc., ... It's EXPENSIVE to do that.
So, it's not that we're mad at people wanting to DIY something, it's that we're getting shitted on for something that isn't even our fault while prof nail techs already are trying to educate non-professionals on the dangers of doing your own nails at home lol. Hope this clears something up...

The fact that professionals get mad at her by showing how she does her nails at home is insane, if i wanna do my nails with a nail tech or not is my decision and nobody should feel pushed to do their nails specifically with a nail tech, specially if you can learn to do it yourself…. So when you do 3D art with builder gel, you should do your top coat first, then builder gel design, then cure and it’s done? Or do you need some sort of top coat on the builder gel?

It does not matter what i do i get lifting in about 3 days. Theyll stay on for about 2 weeks, but always have lifting. Ive tried everything!! From youtube, to tiktok, to a comment i posted on her channel before,and everyone gave me tips. I even started doing builder gel instead of gel x. Still get lifting. Its so frustrating!
me too, they last and are still difficult to get off at 2+ weeks but i still get a little bit of lifting on at least some of them. i think i will try this gel overlay method next time
@KaylaSmith953 yes! And my hair will get stuck in them, it's the worst! I'm guna try this too! Hopefully since it won't be as thick of a layer of builder gel as creating a whole nail, maybe it will be easier to smooth down.

I don’t even watch other creators videos anymore- I’ve learned so much from you and I’ve been doing my nails (acrylic, polygel,) for the last like 5-6 years- trying out gel extensions cause my nails have been growing really well and hate when nail techs clip off allllll my nail growth.

I think you do a great job, but I personally couldn't handle wearing so many different colors all together. This set seemed to be more for the Fall or Winter season. You absolutely do a great job!
Love watching nail videos, I also do my own gel x nails! If you don't have one I would get a dust collector for filing off your nails. Helps so much with the mess!!! Love the designs!!!

Yes I love all the mixed nail designs! It’s so fun and cool! Plus I’ve been upgrading all my gel and keep feeling the urge to redo my nails so I can try more of my collection. I think this is a great way to play around with all my colors without feeling like redoing my nails every week haha
