Who are Kara and Nate?!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment.
We discovered the world of “travel hacking” while planning our honeymoon & became addicted ;)
So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world.
Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went back home to “normal life.” We started this travel vlog to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with living on the road and found a new passion for capturing our travels through video. So we did everything we could to keep going.
4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time.
After ~2 years of van life, we are back to full time traveling! And now we are finding the best adventures the world has to offer :)
We are incredibly grateful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎 Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey!

Every single time there's a shot of Nate waking Kara up with some coffee and kisses, my heart sings. It makes me think of two things: how beautiful it is that you two are so wholly in love and are able to deeply care even 16 years later, and reminds me of my own relationship and how fortunate I am to have such an amazing person.

I was working on getting out of an abusive (not physical thank God!) marriage. I found you guys again later that year ... can't recall the exact video. I know it was an Italy one. Then I found your Antarctica video series then I realized I had seen a few of your others and followed. As you know it was 2020, I was still in that relationshit... Thanks Dane Cook for coining that term. and finally realized I deserved better and you FRIENDSHIP and LOVE helped me to see the light your videos helped me to escape and finally I left. YOU BOTH INSPIRED ME TO DO WHAT I WANT TO DO... EXPLORE... MEET THE WONDERFUL PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD!. I love watching your videos, it made me take the first step in traveling for the first time. I was able to go to Mexico for a week about 8 months ago with my partner and I just wished we were able to travel once a year. Watching your videos just makes me so happy.

I Was living in Costa Rica and about to be on my way to Guatemala to live and work for the next three years. Hi dears! You may use low cut filter on your audio to prevent extreme wind noise, which is takes main power of your audio spectrum.
Try to do this in Final cut at 150Hz and you’ll see that the audio levels of useful sound decrease dramatically. Cause most powerful part of your spectrum now is the wind noise.
After low cut filter you can increase your audio to usual levels and you get much better sound.
If your mic or camera have physical lowcut filter (I sure Sony camera has), use it on set is the best way to get much better audio.

It seems like you guys missed the mark in not really highlighting that it’s the incredible staff that makes Calala worth it.
Also, I find it suspicious that you go out of your way multiple times to claim they didn’t know who you are. Yet, you were upgraded on arrival to Villa 1 and then upgraded further to the more private Villa 5. Also, they didn’t know who you are but somehow managed to agree to and set up this giveaway in a couple days? Right.
While it may seem suspicious, on an island where there’s only 10 people and this is a private island, the staff would be silly to not ask the only guest if they would like complete privacy for their full day. Plus they would have had to paid $20,000 to have this experience (USD) which means the treatment will be great
Staff never walk in front of villas and the junior villas are plenty private from both staff and other guests.
Also, virtually no one pays cash to stay at Calala. Nearly all of their revenue is through Hyatt redemptions from Americans and auction winning Brits. The price tag is a bit of a misnomer. You’re also treated well there because the staff are great people who likely reap little benefit of Calala’s room revenue (or at least not as much as they should), given the low wages in Nicaragua.
