For people who weren't there, it's impossible to fully describe what a big deal this was when it came out. I went to see this film on opening night in a fully-packed theater and it was one of the most raucous, thrilling, exciting movie-going experiences I've ever witnessed. The moment when Spidey KO'd Bone Saw and the crowd (in the movie) starts cheering his name, the ENTIRE theater exploded in cheers and applause. It was unreal. I'll never forget it.

Yeah, I remember when it came out. Felt like a milestone was reached. It was the first time they nailed both being very faithful to the source material AND being a good blockbuster movie. I mean sure X-men and Blade existed but there was always the feeling those movies were embarassed to be comic book movies ("What were you expecting? Yellow spandex?" Hurdy hur) but to me this is the picture that finally told the world comic book movies could be really f*ckin good and did not need to be embarassed to be a comic book movie
