My first mac was the 5k 27" iMac, since then I havent bought a PC. I loved it so much I moved my entire business to macOS and dramatically cut my IT costs.
Fun fact, with open core legacy patcher and a cpu upgrade, the first aluminum iMac can not only run the latest version of macOS, but it's the oldest device possible that can run it.
Only a couple of months after the iPhone announcement and Steve looks noticeably thinner here. It breaks my heart seeing how he declined from late 2007-11. I'll miss him enormously, however he left a great team at Apple.

I own both a 2006 and a 2009 iMac ( it’s the 20 inch education model so technically a 2007 iMac with an upgraded processor) and the 2006 is very very quiet to the point where if you’re in a quiet room you can just barely hear the fan run but the 2009 is dead silent. I’ve never heard it make a sound when running.

My in laws have this 24 inch iMac. Only last month have we not been able to upgrade it to the latest operating system. It still runs everything that they need. This includes Photoshop, Citrix and even RUclips! Almost 10 years out of an all in one. Pretty cool
They lowered the starting price of the Mac mini by $100 in 2020 from $799 to $699 with the M1 model. They lowered it again by $100 in 2023 with release of the M2 Mac mini from $699 to $599.
The first Mac I used was the G3 iMac... The second was the G5 iSight.... But my first Mac to own was THIS one. The lowest end one they show here, but still GREAT.
My friend's mom has a 2007 iMac, and it's hard drive is dying. It sounded like a drill while it's spinning and took well over a half an hour to boot. Its also still running 10.4.10 Tiger, but his mom refuses to upgrade to the latest version because she thinks that will format the hard drive.
I bought one of these at launch and only got rid of it last year, in the end it was used as a media server. Can't believe how much use I got out of it over the years,

I'm watching this in 2013 on the 20". I run Mountain Lion with 3GB or Ram. I get a Geekbench score of 2004. Not exactly a speed demon but it runs everything well: Photoshop, Illustrator, iMovie, etc. With Leopard I had a few crashes, but now it's running better than ever. Mountain Lion is a great OS. The DVD RW did break, so I opened up the iMac, pulled the drive out and got an external for $30. One repair in 5 years. Not bad.
Ikr, the new Mac mini m4 is awesome but there’s a fake and cringy enthusiasm in that presentation. Though I love Craig Federighi’s shenanigans when he’s showcasing iPhone and iOS related stuff.

The onoff button on Mac Mini M4 is a joke! That is BAD design. Seen so many people defending this bad design, I don't know why. I agree that we can put the Mac into sleep so it's almost shut off and we can wake it up anytime, so we almost never need the onoff button. But when we actually need that onoff button, it's important to have easy access! I hope Apple will fix this ASAP and to be realistic we have to wait for Mac Mini M5 or M6... so 1-3 years!

Speak for yourself. My windows work laptop is massive. And requires external keyboard, mouse, headset (because speakers are terrible). 👎 It’s a portable desktop more than it is a laptop.
1:00 pretty sure if you spent like 2 mins cable managing that, it would look 10x better. And what i see in that picture, is freedom. Should anything in that image fail, it can easily be replaced, even if anything internal fails. PCs, Especially custom built ones, give you the freedom to open it up, and replace any defective parts. Can you easily do that with an iMac? No, you can't. That's a deal breaker.

Heat on the outside comes from where? Sure in some cases, exterior heat caused by the internals is better... But when your macbook pro gets hot enough that touching the palm rest becomes uncomfortable, to an end user it is a bad thing. And yes, palm rest.
Basically, better graphics, faster memory and a bigger hard drive :) ... skip to 08:30 and you'll see the difference between the two on the comparison table. Hope this helps.

This was my first Apple product.. then I switched to a 2010 MacBook Pro. Now I’m 2022 I don’t even have any computer nor a tablet, just my iPhone 13 “pro” max (I think the industry needs to retire the word “pro) and I’m probably gonna finally get a new iMac later this year
I still use this model 20 inch 2.4 ghz 4 Gb ram I put a terabyte hard drive in it plus I'm running a dual boot system windows 7 ultimate and mountain lion .
