Jamie I would love to see a video on how you use focus bracketing in your handheld macro photography. I am new to OM Systems and the OM1 mk2 and understand the focus bracketing menu where you dial in the number of shots, press the shutter and the camera takes those shots but from watching your videos you appear to press and release the shutter at will irrespective of what your focus bracketing is set to or am I not understanding the process. Great video as always and hope you can educate me a little on the handheld bracketing process.👍
I thoroughly enjoyed your informative, no gimmick video. You have a very relaxed calm approach. I'm amazed how still you are able to hold the camera while taking shots for stacking. I'd love to see a video on your macro gear. Thank you.
Hey, awesome that you got the opportunity to upgrade. I got myself the OM1 M1 with 90mm macro lens deal and I really enjoy this setup. Comparison is nice idea for video. 😊
Heya @@bamsemh1, I got the raynox but dont use it since the 90mm already has 2x magnification and with most insects its even too much and also hard to master. When there is a little movement its hard to stack. I usually go to 1x up to 2x. But often stay around 1.5x. Of course also depends on what I photograph, big insects I tend to stay closer to 1x and small insect to 2x. But also depends on the details I want, only face or full body etc. But fun to try out things 😊
OM should just give you a free OM1 MK2. They really need new, young and good influencer if they want to bring the brand back from being almost dead. I love my OM-5 for the stuff i do, but i dont see how the current marketing with basically only focusing on bird photography will work out great in the long run. Bring in more diveres influencer when it comes to usage like you with the macro stuff and revive some of the smaller budget systems for younger people and street photography
Nice photos on your instagram by the way. I have a canon R7 with Sigma 105 Macro lens and have recently enjoyed getting into photographing insects. I like it way more than birds photography, if nothing else, insecsts are more abundant, and I dont have to carry around a very heavy long lens. Im going to be looking at your videos to learn tips and tricks. Im based in Northampton so if you can recomend some great sites for insects thgat would be helpful. I currently am a member of our 3 counties wildlife trust to get access to the reserves. Summer Leys has some cool insects when the nettles start growing in the spring. Lots of jumping spiders.
Thats a great diffuser. Just checked the price . Ouch!!!. Any recomdations for lower price options that might work better than my home made pringle tube diffuser?
Yes, the 90mm is nice to use. Also started with the 60mm. The only regret is that the combo OM1 + 60mm and 350o was the low weight advantage. Advantage totally lost since I'm using the Godox 860 now.... The 90mm has also the advantage of going to 4/1 But think I will go back to my Godox 350o for my nature walks...
100% agree with you that even if the OM-1 does have some cool features compared to the older E-M1 bodies (better viewfinder, 1/100ss focus bracketing) I can't recommend the EM-1 + zuiko 60mm enough. For macro it's such a incredible performing, light and fun combo!😁 But since I can get the OM-1 for a good price I did get one just like you, because why not?🤣
Really need to try getting into macro. I used my 40-150 with a nisi macro filter for some stuff here and there but im also thinking about getting a 60mm and a flash
Did you switch to a new flash since this old set up? Do you recommend the new flash over the old V350o? I'm looking to get a new flash to help me get into stacking since my old flash uses AA batteries and it's recycling time isn't fast enough. It seems the v350o works for stacking but I bet it's easier with a better flash
Yeah, I now use the godox v860iii. The v350 is great for stacking. I suppose the v860iii is better, but it is hard to notice a difference. If you want a small and lightweight flash, go with the v350
I use the V350o and so far a good flash, battery is holding up with my walk. After 3k photos its down to about 15%. With my 64gb sd card I get max around 3250 photos, then my camera is down to about 10%. So for me good enough. Obly thing is my flash brightness is not always consistent, but with Helicon edit it will adjust it nicely.
More cracking images, loved the dragonfly. I have to say I would not trade my OM1 mark II and 90mm for any other system on the market. I chose an Olympus FL700WR over Godox because it is weatherproof: and it works well with my KR90 diffuser. The rain and strong winds have been a killer this year in the W.Mids.
At what point are you going to be doing bug macro photography in the pissing rain and wind? It's one of those things that sounds good on paper but in reality, is pointless. In my opinion
It might not be raining when you set out, I have been caught out many times in heavy showers, having the om1, 90mm macro and the fl700 doesn't deter me from keeping the camera out and ready to get a shot of an insect with rain drops on. The wind is another matter, but then it's down to patience and a flash to hopefully freeze the action. I used to have the Godox tt350 but prefer the fl700.
@@tobias1991o.Quite a lot. Insects are far more interesting in the rain. They don't just give up when it rains, they are still out there hunting and being preyed upon. Furthermore, I have invested a lot of money in my camera gear: there is no way I'm going to let it gather dust just because it's raining.
@@madgegie2824. You are spot on. The wind is the killer where I live, but holding the bit of foliage with one had helps, together with shooting at 1/250 (or higher with HSS) works for me.
So your new camera is the OM 1 v.1 , not the v 2? I have the v.1 also with 90mm lens. Would love to see the V350 vs 860III flash on that combo. The V860 is great but is bigger, so maybe the V350 is sufficient and lighter.
I’m pretty sure there will not be a huge benefit for me to upgrade from 60mm to 90mm macro, so I’d like to a comparison video with your opinion please.
I have both V350 O and V 860 III but cygnustech is for V860 O or big flash Olympus. What do you think better? I have OM1 and 90mm F 3.5 with duplicator too. Have you tried duplicator?
@@JamieSpensley Thank you! One more question do you also have auto focus stacking built in the camera with the OM-D E-M1 Mark II, like the Mark III has or not?

Not really insect friendly, torturing an insect with a flash so close. I take pictures from a meter, no flash and as sharp as your pictures. Think about it.
Hello, but taking picture 1m away will not get you 1x magnification, I use a Sony RX10IV (bridge 1 inch sensor) at full 600mm telephoto from 75cm that is minimum focus distance for RX10IV I get 0.5x magnification.
A meter? That's still way to invasive and disruptive to the poor little insects. I shoot my photos from at least 10 meters. Sure they suck, but at least I don't disturb the natural world.
@@wildinthejardin I have the same, great camera! Try to use an achromatic lens, you will get even better pics. I also use the FZ2000, with 1m minimum focus distance.
But you travel in a car and kill thousands of insects with the front of the car and crush them on the road. You walk on the grass and step on and kill thousands of tiny insects that way. You destroy nature in so many ways but yet come here a post a hypocritical comment about someone taking photos. Hypocrite you are and arrogant attitude you have.
Definitely do a comparison Jamie between the two systems please.

OM have hired plenty large macro photographers as ambassadors over the last year.
@MarkusHorrer really? I feel like they barely advertise it. Anytime I get ads from them or go to the website it's all about outdoor and animals
The 90mm is a game changer. You'll get better shots, sharper shots, and 2x magnification!
