This is excellent, just excellent - a much appreciated and extremely helpful start to this new series - thanks for clearing the air, addressing misconceptions and taking responsibility for imperfections. I hope the rest of the subscriber base embraces them in the spirit which these videos are intended.

thanks so much for this video series. I have not started building yet. I wanted to get several issues before I begin. I had anticipated changes as this went to production. I have nothing but praise and agree that each model maker should put their own personality into their kits. If you look at the actual studio model it is far from perfect because it was meant to be seen quickly and not scrutinized by collectors. Have fun with this awesome kit! I know I will!

Excellent, this has answered concerns I had and allayed a few worries, great explanations and hints of things to come. Good job, it's appreciated that you have listened to builders and addressed their questions and issues here :)
Also, I didn't even know a replacement canopy frame was needed - good job I haven't glued mine yet!

Very nicely done - love the humor too :) It's been posted that Tamiya liquid cement works well on ABS plastic as well - but I haven't tried it yet.

Thanks Steve, Got all the parts now, and about finish off building it and start painting her. Did build a 1/144 (Bandai) Falcon from TFA and have the "Solo" Falcon on order to show the differences between the three, Great videos all 4 of them.

Great video, I was slightly dubious about the subscription format for building a model but the re-tooling and corrections being made have laid my fears to rest. Will be putting my subscription in soon! cant wait to see how these progress.

Absolutely superb video. Very informative and am very pleased to see that You guys are doing this, it really shows you care about this build and also us customers.
Also took your advice about the cement glue not working with it. I'm not a big fan of superglue so I have purchased some of Tamiyas ABS Cement so can't wait to get going. Did cement some bits with some Mr Hobby Cement S and seems ok but to be on the safe side I will try the Tamiya ABS Cement.
Exciting and can't wait for the future episodes.

Hi Steve, I'm Sofia from Argentina. Me and my boyfriend are still in the building process of the Falcon, but we are already painting some parts. We were wondering if you have any documents or a folder with the pictures/photos to share for us to have better reference for the painting.
Your videos are great! Thank you very much, Sofia and Leonel!

GEH737 I have up to now used Tamiya Extra Thin on the main surfaces and seats in the cockpit and some few exterior greebles, and it seems to have bonded okay (but if it fails no biggie, and can reattach the parts), and I have read that it can work okay on ABS in some circumstances where there is a high enough plolystyrene content if you apply it generously, However, I am not going to make any assumptions going forward and have just received some Tamiya Cement for ABS (has a blue lid, SUPER hard to find). I haven't tried it yet but am hoping it will work okay as I really don't have a liking for using CA glue, it's too messy and finicky for my liking :)

Modelmaking Guru I've used Ambroid Proweld in the past for model builds, partly because it can work on ABS. The stuff is getting tough to find now though given it seems to be out of production so I've picked up a couple bottles of Plastruct Plastic Weld (another ABS capable glue which I've used in the past) and Tenax 7R (which I have never used before). It is still possible to get Weld-On 3 from places that work with ABS and acrylic and I've also heard there is a much hotter solvent Weld-On 10 as well.I plan to try a few test glue applications in a couple months to see what might work on this beastie as my only concern with CA glue is it tends to get brittle over time and I don't want to run the risk of parts (such as the tan wall cushions) popping off if something gets flexed.

Mr Chladek, referenced your films many times, love your work ^_^ I will have to look into those glues. I did get some blue-top Tamiya ABS cement - although it is hard to come by - but haven't had chance to try it yet ^_^

Steve, great video. As a UK subscriber ( up to part 23 now ) and a novice model builder can you clarify that the model - as supplied by DeAgostini - is good enough? I'm just building it as it arrives, no paintwork, no spraying etc etc. Will the finished product be of good enough quality and finish in the unaltered - as shipped state.
    Thanks for reading.
    Jeff

    Hello
Will the whole model be sprayed with the Tamiya AS-20 and will you need a primer on it first?
My English is very rusty and in the video I did not quite understand this.

I just tried popping off the window on the gun turret as seen in this video. Did not work at all. I called customer service to get a turret without the window not glued in so I can place it in the correct position. A request was put through and I have high that I'll receive it!

I love when he talks about not agonizing over small details realizing he's primary audience is a bunch of OCD Star Wars geeks that have no choice but to completely agonize over the most microscopic of details. Go read some of the forums over at rebelscum or RPF, those guys are like "OMG the secondary transverse coupler for the hyperdrive motivator is .01 microns to the starboard side to far!!!! I want my money back!" LoLzz

Am I the only one who notices that the exhaust streaks should go straight back (all 3 streaks should go in the direction of the middle streak if it followed the way air would flow back in flight). But, I guess the studio model was like that (radiating from the center). But it would be wrong. I could see rain/rust streaks radiating from the center (like they would as water ran off a stationary ship), but the engine exhausts should all go straight back. In my opinion.

a quick question for Steve Dymszo i have received my first shipment just today.. and have previously watched all of your videos on painting the falcon.. a very simple thought occurred to me..since there is a level of detail existing already.. regarding the exterior only what if you satin clear coated the exterior only with several coats.. and then added all your additional layers of details and layers of paint... in my minds eye by the time you have added all the layers you have shown us.. there would be no way to really tell the difference when youre done and any additional layers will react identically anywhere you clear cloated with satin.. not to mention the existing details give you an amazing base and guide.. hope this makes sense lol
