I love mine. I started it in 2015 when model space made it available. Now I did buy after market parts to make it better. Also, did some alterations to make more to my liking. I’m not a modeler and some of these things were a challenge. All I can say is enjoy the build. Regardless of the issues that some people had. I had minimal issues with my build. My excitement was through the roof with this model.

I've not heard of this Fanhome kit, but it looks like a straight repro of the Deagostini model, right down to the magazines (with slightly different covers) and blister card packaging for the parts.
I finished building my Deagostini Falcon last year after building it off-and-on over the course of a handful of years.
I kept mine vanilla outside of some custom blast damage with Tamiya modeling putty and a Dremel (as the sculpted blast damage was rather plain), and of course I painted the entire thing instead of leaving the factory paint job.
I agree with you regarding accuracy - I noticed a lot of people nitpicking the Deagostini kit because it wasn't accurate to the sets, when in reality it was never marketed as such. It was only ever advertised as being accurate to the film model.
One aspect of the Deagostini model that contributes to its rarity is that it was plagued with supply and distribution issues that delayed chapter boxes for months on-end for some people. There were times when I wouldn't get a monthly box for a while, and then months later I would get 4-5 boxes all at once.
I've also read posts online from some later adopters of the model who were left in limbo without the remainder of their kits because Deagostini stopped production of the model so abruptly.
That all said, enjoy your build!
Once it's all completed this Falcon is an absolute unit; it's deceptive just how large, complex, and heavy it's going to be in the end.

I built the DeAgostini Millennium Falcon model about 8 years and which looks to be the same as this and was collected weekly/monthly. It was absolutely worth every penny. A fantastic build from the metal frame and motorised boarding ramp to the cabin and engine lights, with removable panels to show off the interior.

I build this kit years ago and pretty much have the entire build on my channel. It's a great kit, but there are a few issues that it has as well. Overall though, it's a very solid kit, and it's as close as you'll get to the studio model. And unless they've changed the cockpit framing area, you'll need to get one 3D printed if you want it to be screen accurate.

Just to clarify De Agostini did NOT get access to the LFL archives to photograph the original model to create theirs. Steve Dymzso (former owner of Master Replicas) was the consultant for De Agostini and they used HIS personal MR Falcon replica as the basis for their kit. Any photos used were taken by Dymzso when he was researching and light scanning the model in the early 2000s when MR were planning on releasing their replica.

Well, this is where some of us collectors and modelers have found buyee I finally purchased the whole subscription set number 1 to 100 for under $450 but here’s where the issue is the shipping the shipping. • @YourGeekFix

Compatible to other metal models that huge in size. This thing uses up part of the room. The plastic toy I held up is over 600. There are small models that are around the price you are talking that are pretty great.

      Or a used car.

    • @YourGeekFix
      @YourGeekFix  11 месяцев назад +5

Keep in mind, the legacy Falcon that is 3/4 the size and solid plastic, no interior, details, or moving parts, is between $375 to $600. The tiny Bandai 1/144 Millennium Falcon, is around $360. The Rebels Millennium Falcon goes for around $500 these days, which is just a big plastic shell. The one I showed in this video made by Hasbro goes for $700 complete. The landing gear, which I would still like to get, go for around $100. The smaller and poorly detailed Code 3 version is going around a $1000. The Hasbro 2.5' New Millennium Falcon is $1,124.49. For the tooling and production costs alone, it makes sense. You can buy only what you want at a time and pause the build. It's better than any payment method. And you are getting something enormous. If you aren't interested in buying or building it, you can watch others do it. No worries.

Good to see this model is still around, sadly, delivery is still only restricted to the UK and the US because it's based on local subscription.
I was made aware by some who managed to get one internationally (the DeAgostini version) that they had to buy it through a third party supplier who only offered the model as a complete set of issues in a single packaged box. This was years ago when the series set was towards the end of it's run.
They also mentioned the cost of shipping was hefty because of the total package weight. Customs also had fun ripping through the issues that included wiring and electronics too.
Still looks like a complex but fun model, enjoy your build.

Great walkthrough! I have the DeAgo Falcon from several years ago and these are the best mass-produced studio scale replicas you can get now without paying $10K on a Master Replicas Falcon. Is the Fanhome/DeAgo Falcon perfect? Not 100% but there are tons of 3rd party modelers that you can get 3D printed accessories or electronics to make it even more accurate. This is definitely not an Ertl/MPC/Bandai model, it’s a studio scale replica and will be a showpiece for anyone who devotes their time to it! The 1/72 Bandai Perfect Grade Millennium Flacon was created from 3D laser scans of the 6 foot filming model from the first Star Wars movie, A New Hope, courtesy of Lucasfilm. Of course, this model is only 19" in length, but it is modelled exactly from the filming model. And it is priced roughly around $450.00. The Deagostini version was also 3D scanned from the Lucasfilm's filming model used in the Empire Strikes Back movie. I believe it was from the 32" filming model. This FANHOME version looks absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, the price is to rich for my wallet.

A lot of posts commenting on the cost, I couldn't find it anywhere on their site. It has a, honestly, kind of bait-and-switch approach of selling you the first two builds (seen in this video) for basically free ($2), but then no mention of how many more are needed to complete. I can't help myself: I find their lack of information disturbing.
As I remember it, the DeAgostini model had a "lump sum payment" option (was just over $2000), but I didn't see that here.
I missed out on the DeAgostini model and am SUPER interested in this one, but ... I don't know why they're being so sketchy about the pricing. If it's $100 or $10,000 just put it up there.

The pricing really fluctuates by a lot. Last week it was 30% less total. May have another sale near Christmas and you can google Fanhome coupon code and watch for a good one like I did on another model. Price is based on when you buy, what country you are in, and the delivery method. Some countries have the lump sum and some have told me the site says "coming soon" in the US, but I don't personally know. Best thing to do is call the one near you.

    • @TheNudeBrewer

Thank you for the reply. Maybe they're doing a version of dynamic pricing? Which, as a BUSINESS, I understand but in practice is shady af. You have a product, sell it and be open about the price. Pricing and shipping by COUNTRY is another obvious detail but, every other company in existence seems able to navigate this problem.
I'll keep my eye on it, but I wish they would understand this doesn't come across as "small indie company doing our best", it just feels like "SUPER MEGA ULTRA SCAM!" Is +that+ what they want?? @@YourGeekFix

It's a good kit not great when I got it from Deagostini. I'm nearly finished with my model but I also upgraded the electronics and added a lot of addons that I purchased separately as well, which added additional costs which does not include all the paints and other model equipment.
The electronics that come with the Deagostini/Fanhome kit is pretty poor.
I was hoping Fanhome would purchase the STK Millennium falcon which is the same kit as the Deagostini/Fanhome but with upgraded electronics and interior detailing. THAT IS A MUCH BETTER KIT OVERALL. Unfortunately it is only sold in Asia and does not ship to the United States and Europe. If you want a way better kit get the STK version. Granted, the build itself will take a considerable amount of time. But my goodness, this could last a couple years or more. So crazy, yet I love the ship itself. Thanks for sharing.

Actually, your origin info isn't quite right.
DeAgostini had contacted me because they knew I had been working at MR and had been in the archive many times over 9 years, so they asked if I had information on the Falcon model.
At MR, we had completed a full digital scan and took about 500 photos back around 2003 to make our replica.
I supplied this information to DeAgostini to create their subsequent model kit. They went on to hire me as a consultant for the project and I produced a series of painting videos for them shortly after that.

@ArnaldRimmer we have had so much happening and the videos of every box burnt me out, so this one I am building with 8 boxes at a time. Might get to it thisweek.

Check out the finish product and the size. It is pretty amazing. Until they started making them again, those that resold theirs did so for a few thousand or more.

Haha looks cool, unfortunately you did not solve your own question yet... :( Is that kit more like 10 Build Phases or like 30 or 50? For me it seems like if you get 7 Build phases, it costs you already 72,46€ .... 10 = 111,43; 20 = 241,33€ (Basically 129,90€ per 10 Packages if the Price stays the same.
Edit: It looks like the old edition had 100 build phases!!! So it may take >1273,33€ and about 7.5 Years??? Wow!

If we get 5 build components per month we're looking at a little under 2 years.

It takes two years, just like the other fanhome models we have done. You get four phases in each box.
