With electric bike sales dropping and the government so desperate to push EV's, I take out 5 different electric bikes. I was...

The efuel exception might well kill the larger equivalent mc's

Too expensive, very ugly and absolutely useless on longer trips

The blue Zero 125cc equivalent stood out to me as being desirable. (2nd hand of course, because few would pay £14K for it). I counted about 5 seconds for your 0-60. No petrol 125 does that.

I got a 6/1/2 0 to 60, but it was up hill. Yeah, for a 125cc equivalent, that's pretty good.

I started out with the hope of electric being an alternative to petrol and diesel...i mean i see the possibilities but the cost of EV's is stupid (12-15k for a 125cc equivalent 😵‍💫...£2,500/£3,000 is enough!) in most cases...the equivalent of mpg is a major fact and the infrastructure to recharge when on a longer journey...
And i agree with one of the other commentators on here regarding the acceleration rate. Too much speed in young hands lessens the time to react. Less speed giving more time to react and therefore keep out of trouble more easily. But a range of fourty miles is a waste of time imho ... just an electric bicycle in motorcycle clothes. But theres no denying it is fun , just heavily confined to recharge point. I know of several people who regret buying Teslas , Renault and Peugeot EVs and reverted to petrol and diesel again. Even one person in Scotland where the government made it economically feasible with recharge rates have given up . Don't get me wrong if the range anxiety , battery chemistry with lithium is too heavily polluting and mines for its extraction is in countries we are too dependent upon, so maybe sodium ion is a game changer ...time will tell. Then again hydrogen is the most plentyful fuel .

Wow, crazy prices for EV bikes. Perhaps, one day when we can't steal petrol from the back of tankers & brewing moonshine is illegal...

Electrics vs Petrol really are apples and oranges. When comparing the category the Electrics are too expensive, but then a "125" electric you wouldn't really need to upgrade like you would on a 125 Petrol.
For me the licensing needs to be looked at, 125 electrics have the top speeds of a 125 Petrol, but they deliver the power of a 400-500cc Petrol. For me a New Learner on a bike that's actually performing 0-60 to that of a 400+cc bike needs to be considered.
I use to be anti electric, but after much research and also having access to an electric car, i am now pro electric for Cars. I'm not anti petrol though. Mentally i just can't make the jump over to an electric bike. Electric scooters and cycles sure, but something just says no when it comes to motorbikes for whatever fickle, arbitrary reason for myself personally, but they definiely have something to offer that cannot be denied.
However electrics are the future, i feel the arguments and stratergy used to promote Electrics in the west have failed. No one likes to be forced, or lied too. The eco-friendly brigade have over sold, and not been entirely upfront. EV's at current are not more eco friendly, but over time they will be. Also politically if we want energy independence away from saudi and russian Oil, Electricity is the only way, and Nuclear energy whilst expensive upfront, its ability to provide the energy required is suited, and it's relatively eco friendly tbh. (more eco friendly than solar panels) the toxic materials in Solar are permantly toxic even once sitting in landfil.
There's way too much old myths and outdated lies fighting against EV's out of the failed stratergies and natural resistance you get when being forced into a situation, You know Battery health can also improve aswel as degrade, but no one lets you hear about that, you only hear Batteries degrade, or people ranting on about Cobalt and lithium, whilst they type from their smart phone or laptop (irony). Most newer batteries have started to move away to other methods of these resources. When Batteries do reach towards an unacceptable level for real world use, the Existing Batteries cells that work still hold value and get sold on for use in Solar farms.
The West stratergy has not been good at all in my mind, If you look at China, they make cars like the Panda mini full EV, that's roughly the size of an original mini cooper, can carry 4 people, has room for shopping, and perform all the legal limits of petrol car for about £4000-5000 New. This sort of car would be perfect for modern, cash strapped brits. Also would of served as nice secondary cars for middle classes, that would of made it more appealing to the west. But no we got direct Electric alternatives to petrol cars, that no normal person can simply afford. Then you get all the resistance, and social media pressures scaring people away from them. Electrics are great, they are a tool that serve a purpose, just like others vehicles. The problem is the country and the west often make no sense, just look at EU regs on Petrol Motorcycles, its all BS! Engines sizes are getting larger, not smaller!. 1000cc engines are now 1049cc etc to get around EU regs. 400's and 600's are getting wiped out, yet i can still go buy a 1400 Hayabusa or H2. It makes no sense.
Ontop of that Britains roads for sensible people are not designed for anything really larger than a 500cc. Just look at Adventure biking the Bikes have gotten more expensive every year, larger bigger, heavier, almost nearly opposite of what you would actually need. You might need abit of weight for touring/stability, and extra power options for pillion. Yet you can literally ride around the world on a 300cc Rally bike. Go proper off roading, you will drop your bike, have fun picking up your 1100cc/1300cc Africa twin or GS. The power they offer isn't needed for Off roading, you just burn you clutch out, or wheel spin. As for Fun, I'd rather ride a slow bike fast, than a fast bike slow.
Sorry for the rant, but Petrol/Electric/Licensing/The motorcycle industry/Government just make little sense.
Ontop of all that, no matter what vehicle you have petrol or be it electric you're both just as likely to crash from a fking unfixed POTHOLE!

Crikey, that funny little 50cc equivalent is £4k! You can get a nice Royal Enfield for that! Electric bikes are well over priced.

The Zero 125 equivalent looks no different to any other modern-designed bike, in my opinion! And that opinion is...ugly!

Lecci cars are just virtue signalling nonsense.
Bikes even more so considering that i.c.e. bike equivalent get 150 m.p.g.
For a fraction of the price.
    All totally pointless.
