Thanks for this video! Having hungry family type people over to the new house, having promised them some pork shoulder, and my igniter crapped out. Never thought to kick start it manually. Saved my bacon!
Excellent! Easy fix to get your pellet smoker smoking. Had my meat ready and no flame. That sucks! Got my flame thrower out and bam! Smoke... You saved my ass today (July 4th) Thanks! Igniter rod ordered.
It's Thanksgiving morning and I just woke up to smoke my turkey and couldn't get the pellets to light and the igniter is bad... You saved our Thanksgiving turkey! (And some smoked pork belly too)
I have this identical smoker and I think my heat rod is out in mine. Do you have any info on parts I need on order? IThis video is certainly helpful for temporary use. Great video & thankyou!
The one I bought was from amazon - amzn.to/3xJYETH - also includes fuses incase it also cause the fuse to blow out on the control panel.....also had that happen right before mu element went out.
Great video! Where do find the lighter gun? My pitboss isn't feeding pellets when turned on smoke startup. Will this viagra process help this by getting the fire going then the pellets will start flowing? Ty
I have had to replace my Igniter Probe 4 times and have only had my Pitt Boss for 1 & 1/2 yrs. Out of Warranty now, so its on me. I would never buy another Pitt Boss for this reason.
I have only had one.....and in the end it was actually the control board had an open circuit.....might want to clean it out good, plug it in and do not run it on and see if the igniter rod starts to glowing bright red....that what my issue was over all.....if the board has an open circuit and you have it plugged it, the igniter rod is always heating up and will burn it out super fast, because it never turns off like it's suppose to. I have video showing that exactly.
@@BUMMERSBARBQ I think I'm going through this same problem right now. Replaced fuse, and igniter wasn't turning red. got a new one, ran 1 smoke and it blew fuse on me within an hour. now igniter isn't working again. Is this a control board issue you think? i have had bad luck contacting customer service.
@@nicholassantella3241 I would think it sounds like the control board......it's a lot easier to just contact them on twitter.....can get a response a lot quicker than by calling them.
My regret as of late is dropping $1100 on the Pitboss 1600 Pro Series to have the igniter go out after 7 cooks.....WTF.....I should have gotten the Kamado Joe like I started to...but nooo listening to coworkers got me working on it like it's a Ford Taurus
Mine doesn’t fired up. So I’ll try your idea. I can hear it but it just won’t ignite. So I’ll let you know if your idea works on mine. Any idea why it won’t ignite
The main control board had a short and was always keeping the igniter on the entire time. It's suppose to just turn on until it starts and then turn off, this one was staying on the entire time.
@@christiancarman4879 one started with the fuse, then the heating element, than the control board........think it was the control board the entire time.......after I replaced my fuse the heating element would heat up without the pit boss even turned on, it was plugged into power but turned off......so I would check that if you replace the fuse.
@@BUMMERSBARBQ tu I will start with that like the smoker alot even though it did this it smoked meat great 6 times lol again tu for the tips appreciate it
Actually it came in today.....figured it would be a few months after I ordered my own items and payed for them and it took months......but a little over a week with the hurricane and everything....so very happy with it. Going to be filming putting it in, in few days....
Not sure what you mean the heat gin? If your talking about the lighter it's just a basic propane lighter from Lowes to use for things like water pipe soldering.......

This definitely helped me as well!

I bought that one at Lowe's.....
Also if it's not feeding pellets this will not help....sound like the might be a problem with your auger or the auger motor.

Did anyone have trouble taking the firepot out to replace the ignition? I think mine is jammed
How do you bypass the error code that comes on?
I did not get an error code when mine happened, my controller was so shorted out it wasn't reporting any error's.
Good thinking
Chris Adkison go to make it work one way or another.....
Thanks for video same problem just solved.
Hope it helps........
This happened to me yesterday. Had the redass. I'm buying that torch

Kinda why I jut went in a different direction with the Char-Griller 980, but as with any electrical devices, it's bound to break at some point.
@BUMMERS BAR-B-Q Agreed....If I knew it had a chance of going out this quickly at this high price I would have left it at Lowes
Wish I would have saw this earlier today when my turkey was waiting.
Hope it helps out in the future.......
Lol awesome thanks 🙏🏾

As long as you get the pellets on fire, the air from the fans will keep it going.
Hey did you see Pit Boss has Charcoal flavored pellets now? been meaning to try it..
Going to pick some up this weekend to give it a try.
Thack you

If this was the case and a fix why is the igniter bad makes little sense

I wanted a better look at the "Viagra" you were using to jump start this thing. Was that a propane torch?
Yes it was....

Didn’t work for me, kept throwing the error code
Sorry to hear, not sure why you are getting the code, I didn't get it on mine. You might have a newer controller than I had back then.
Does not work for me sadly
Sorry to hear that.
I hate to see this happen I have pro series
Been fine since over a year later......
