  • Hamburger Soup. This is a hearty, chunky soup that's perfect on a cold day. This is a one pot meal that's easy to make, and puts all of that extra hamburger meat to good use. You can use fresh, frozen or canned vegetables. You can add pasta or any vegetables you have a taste for. I never make it the same way twice, but it is always delicious.
Remember to put God first! :)
    Ingredients:
    1 lb. of ground beef
    1 medium onion
    1 lb. of carrots
    1 lb. of potatoes
1 to 2 cups of tomato sauce
    12 ounces of corn
    Salt and pepper
    Onion powder
    Garlic powder
    Water

I realize it is September 2021 but I have to tell you the honest truth. Once I found your channel about four months ago I decided it was time for me to start cooking again. Both my kids are out of the house and it’s hard wanting to cook just for myself. You brought back my love of cooking simple foods and gave me an excuse to use my mom‘s cast iron skillet. Your homemade potato soup and now this hamburger soup are two of my favorites. I also wanted to send you my prayers for you and your family on the loss of your husband. We’ve all been through a lot in the last couple of years and you are definitely in my prayers. I purchased your cookbook for my daughter and she’s also falling in love with it. Now I’m going to have to buy myself a copy. Thank you for what you do and thank you for sharing your ministries thru RUclips. It’s lovely to hear someone talk about their love of the Lord and I can tell that you live that way every day. Thank you for what you do. I am a fan from North Mississippi.

"Refrigerator soup" is what my Mom called hers, I guess because when she made it, all the refrigerated leftovers went into the pot. Now I'm approaching 70 myself, not so spry around the kitchen (nor anywhere else) these days, but I still find occasion to put on a pot and make up a pan of cornbread to go with it. 'frigerator soup and cornbread is about as filling and warming a meal as it gets; the power of it to bring family together at suppertime on those cold winter's nights is a treasured memory.

That's so true that is brings families together. I know there's been time when my husband or my kids have been having a bad week or we've just been upset about something ,so I would make a big pot of soup & cornbread and it cheered everyone up. It didn't have to be particularly soup .... just as long as it was a good supper. God bless !! 😉❤

I have tried many recipes attempting to replicate my late grandmothers vegetable soup. She would make large batches and store it in her freezer. Today I made this and it was nearly identical to what she use to make. I did add okra to mine since she would put it in her soup. It was delicious. Thank you for taking me back to precious memories of my grandmas kitchen and her delicious southern cooking!

I made the soup. Looks and smells really good. Can hardly wait for dinner this evening. I added some celery that needed to be used and cut some fresh corn off the cob instead of can or frozen only because that’s what I had. I think it will be fine. Cornbread going in the oven in a little while! Thank you for your program. I really like it.

I had to smile when I saw this video! My husband makes something similar and I call it "Hamburger Stew" although it's not quite as thick as stew. He adds diced tomatoes instead of tomato sauce (the tomato sauce is too acidic for me). He uses frozen mixed veggies, kidney and black beans, a can of hominy (white or yellow), chicken broth in place of water, and onions and garlic when he's browning the hamburger. It's probably one of my favorites, winter or summer and a 4 quart pot really isn't big enough so he uses the 8 quart pot so nothing spills out! Some buttered french bread if you want something for dipping, and it tastes even better the next day as leftovers! :-) YUM! Thanks for your videos!

She spilled half a can of pepper into the sauce (dropped the can in the sauce with the lid up) and not knowing any better she stirred it up rather than scooping it out. I ate half a plate of it, trying not to hurt her feelings, until my stomach started to burn. She told me what had happened and we laughed about it for days. That was 23 years ago. I will tell her it is now to be referred to as "Honeymoon Spaghetti". LOL!

  • @johndespard3477

My girlfriends grandma makes a dish she calls "one pot pork chop". It's VERY similar to this.
She starts by browning both sides of the pork chop in a little butter (bone in is best). She too seasons the meat with salt an pepper. She uses a med/medium high heat to "brown" both sides, to lock in the favor. She does not actually cook the meat, so it's still pink inside. Then, she cuts up 3-4 medium potatoes, a whole onion, and a few carrots (maybe a cup or two worth). Then she throws everything in a stock pot or crock pot. She adds a large jar of plain spaghetti sauce (sometimes two jars) and maybe about a cup of water. Basically enough sauce/water to cover everything in the pot. She then simmers everything for at least 4 hours. 4-6 in a pot, or 8 in a crock. I bet you could even leave a crock pot going overnight if you wanted too. If you need to add more water or sauce, you can. Be careful if you stir it at all, because the pork becomes super tender, and can easily shred and fall apart. It's not quite like a soup... but similar. When it's done, we usually try to scoop out everything as its served, and leave most of the sauce. I like to mash my potatoes, onion, and carrots together, and put butter on them, and the pork. I'll then lightly cover everything with sauce. Boy it's good! Especially the pork, it's so incredibly tender! The longer you cook it, the more tender the pork gets too!

God bless you Becky! Back in the 80s I had a restaurant and once a week (Wednesday) I made a similar version of this soup, served it with a mini loaf of homemade bread and butter and sold out by 1pm every Wednesday! The only things I did different was I left the hamburger in bigger chunks, more like tiny meatballs, used canned chopped tomatoes, tomato paste and green beans. I also added a few more spices like Italian seasoning, marjoram and bay leaf. No matter how you make it, it's delicious!
I hope and pray you're past all the censorship now.

Thanks for sharing that with us, God bless you! The censorship is far from over, but it has slacked up a little bit.

Thanks Becky. You're a wonderful lady. Times are changing. You're getting your message come to the place that you intended. Thanks for being in compliance. Hebrews 11:1.

I've made this many times over the years. Always a quick warm meal in only about 30 minutes 😊

We are a migraine family here. And just wanna say I appreciate you mentioning this. Msg had caused my youngest daughter to have several digestive issues. Saw many doctors, went through many meds etc. for a long time… only to find on our own that it was the preservatives. Mainly the msg. Wish more people were aware of how bad that stuff can be. ♥️ had we kept seeing the drs my daughter would still be on several meds with long term problems linked to them. Now she’s fine no meds no problems. Thank God.

Salsa would be a GREAT substition for the tomato soup! Salsa would add a great deal of flavor and spice to the hamburger soup!
