As a military dude who has driven his hand-me-down 2011 Ford Fusion all around the country during my military contract. As well as survived the crazy snowstorm in Virginia during the beginning of 2022. I used to DREAD roadtrips in my old car. Now with the new Tesla Model 3+, I find myself actually excited to do my last road trip in the Marines. The car holds its own. The safety software saved me from an accident when I was doing a college campus visit and a Challenger slammed their breaks in front of me while reacting to an accident on the road. The Model 3 has software that activates the breaks for you if you're headed towards an object at very high speeds WHILE ALSO RECORDING with a dashcam. I don't usually praise vehicles, let alone corporations. However, I fully support anyone purchasing this car. You'll be safer for it.

You can charge a long range to 80% which is 272Miles, same as 100% on Base model.
    With Long Range Model:
    1. You have more range
    2. You have less charging time, as the speed of Super charger drops significantly at 80% (Meaning, you can charge a long range, faster than the standard range to get 272 miles)
    3. You have dual motor (More stability)
    4. You have faster acceleration

Maybe the M3/3+ are subtly different from the MY, but I have found my MY RWD LFP charges from 80% to 100% much faster than a MY LR I rented recently. I was disappointed with the way the LR throttled down in the last 20%. Also, the LR efficiency was lower (may be my right foot) than the RWD,

On AC, one thing important upgrade you missed is the fact that passenger can stop the air flow on his side by tapping the screen. Major upgrade as on my model3 2021 that wasn’t possible and led to "discussions" with my wife as how much air flow is required, rarely on the same view on that specific point :))

I daily drive a 2023 Model 3 RWD which has the same battery and drivetrain as yours. I know Tesla says to go ahead and charge to 100% every day if you want, but after listening to some battery experts in multiple lectures, I set mine to 80% for daily use. I only charge it to 100% once per week as is recommended by Tesla documentation. These batteries are very resilient, so it may not matter to most since they degrade very slowly, but I drive 50k miles per year and want this thing to last forever if possible. I have over 15k miles on it so far and am still showing over 99% battery capacity. This seems to be a percentage point or two better than what I’ve seen from other LFP models with this mileage. I’ve also charged 24% on superchargers in that time, so it’s not just L2 charging. If you can daily them at 60-80% max charge, maintain SOC between 20-80% , and only charge to 100% once per week, I think they’ll last an insanely long time.

Upgraded 3 weeks ago from 2018 3 LR white seats. Got a LR in black with white seats. A few misses with refresh are in no particular order, cup holder to tight. I drink out of soda cans and I’m crushing them trying to pull them out. Still no rear camera cleaning. 2-3 point turns with shifter is a bit of a pain.
Bottom line is, if my problems are these few things I have a great car.

I have mine for 2 weeks now. It came with regular carpet mats. The tires came with higher pressure and the steering is slightly misaligned. I also feel a slight vibration on the steering wheel when increasing speed. I hope it's just the steering misalignment or the higher tire pressure and not also faulty tires that I know it's happening to some people. Other than that I'm loving the car.

I have to say that the phone key issue is the one thing over time I’ve had issues with that is particularly annoying! The random windshield wiper is generally funny unless you have a lot of dead bugs on the windshield?!?! I believe that the main problem with the phone key issue is the phone itself…?

Yes my Samsung S20 has issues each time the software updates on the phone and sometimes on the Tesla.
You can put a wiper on the lower tray which offers you four speeds and auto. Speed 1 is off, 2 is intermittent, 3 is on normal speed and 4 is max. I found this quite useful when driving in the UK recently with all the different types of rain they have:)

The climate control option for the back seats are a little overstated to me. You can change where the vents point , you can turn off and turn on heated seats but I thought the back seat would have its own temperature control option. You aren’t able to do so. Maybe I’m just silly with what I thought but maybe I’m not alone.

I was floored when I test drove it, at how many improvements it has. I came back to the dealer and just assumed I was driving the LR version because this feels so quick. Was shocked to hear that this was the RWD. With the lease rates plus the $7,500 credit on those, this is a no brainer. Hopefully my experience this time will be better than my experience with the 2020 Model Y 3 years ago. I’m pretty confident it will be.

I got tired of waiting for the refresh Model Y and jumped on huge discount on a 2024 Model Y LR (Ultra Red) and traded my 2021 Model Y LR that never had any major issues. While most things are the same between the model years, there is a very noticeable difference (improvement) in the road noise, ride quality and overall fit and finish. The New Model Y feels much more refined than previous years and has no squeaks or rattles. The seats also feel like they have more padding and bolstering. The one area that is not as good is the sound quality; may be a problem specific to my vehicle, but trying every adjustment, the sound fidelity is not as good as my 2021 Model Y. Time will tell, but so far, I like what I'm seeing in current Tesla build quality.

But the real question is, which one is a better buy: new M3 or a used 2020 Model S "Raven" LR? :) Here at least there is no meaningful price difference anymore.

  • @4evergroove

I never had a model 3 before this is my first. I owned a 2021 model y previously.
Now when I compare my 2024 model y and the model 3 I do think the model 3 is more quiet but not as much as everyone seems to be claiming in my opinion. I haven’t been driven in the back seat but I do feel like driving both cars they are similar in noise reduction since both front windows are double glassed. Ride quality over bumps are better on model 3. But compare to model y because of the difference in height it becomes closer in comparison.
I will say maybe model 3 older vs newer might be a much larger difference but I will say test drive it so you can decide for yourself.
Also the back seats itself are comfortable but the feet positioning is terrible. You can barely get your feet under the front seats and the way you sit in the back leaves a large than normal gap between your thigh and the actual seat.

Really great review and overview of changes and features. Will probably buy the 2026 model 3 when my current 2023 Model 3 lease is up. Also, I too would pay specifically for the upgraded stereo in an RWD model if it was offered. I like that I can (and do) charge to 100% with the LFP battery pack. The added 0-60 speed of the LR would be nice, but honestly isn't that important compared to the stereo, IMO.

As a first time Tesla owner with less than a month’s experience I also love the car. As an older person I wanted the added safety of FSD. It does a fantastic job and I rely on it to react to a situation faster than I can react.
I just have one question about the systems ability to read speed limit signs. As I said I use FSD every time I get in the car. The main thoroughfare by me is a 30 mph speed trap. So I’m probably one of few people who turns off automatic speed control where the car is allowed to evaluate the speed limit, road conditions and traffic and pick a suitable speed. On my main thoroughfare that often means it will go better 40 and 50.
Now here’s my problem, the system is not very good at reading speed limits. We have a road where the limit is 45 mph. The road name however is Route 25. Every time I pass a route sign the car slows to 25 mph. This is a rapid deceleration and could cause a rear ending crash. There are many other situations where this speed change also occurs. But in some instances it doesn’t like school speed zones. Those are always ignored. And in this mode when exiting an interstate with a cloverleaf it will not slow down because it also ignores the yellow suggested max speed limits.
I’ve not seen any reviews on this issue. I suspect that’s because most people use the evaluation mode.
Would you review this feature and offer your feedback?

You didn't mention that the FSD setting can be changed via the scroll button on the wheel. It's pretty good in "assertive"
Had it in chill, and I hated it...was not impressed at all, but the setting made it a safe, cautious drive. It was good.
    Nobody is mentioning this setting...

You really downplayed the differences between the standard and long range. Performance and 4 wheel drive! Saying the big difference is the number of speakers I guess that's what is important in the sun belt. All wheel drive is important in northern climates.

The Bluetooth Phone Key thing is an issue. It's done it to me 5 times now. Twice it required me to unpair and repair it. I can tell it broke because it won't play my audiobooks or the audio shuts off when the phone screen goes dark.
If the Tesla SC set your phone up. You SHOULD try to unpair it and learn how to pair it again. Or it'll be frustrating.

Just thinking about removing stalks is such a US move, any person living in the EU wouldn't even think about having blinkers on the driving wheel, because we do have a lot of roundabouts, and it is just hazardous to have to left the eyes from the road to find out where the button are located at when leaving.

My wife's Model Y fights between our profiles. It is pretty consistent for which profile it picks based on who is driving, but almost always has the wrong phone as the media device over bluetooth. Anyone else have that trouble? The "priority device" option never seems to stick to a certain profile but rather overall.

    • @davidavard8461
      @davidavard8461 7 месяцев назад

@@garycard1826 You would have a valid argument if a Ferrari or Lamborghini owner ever used their turn signals.:-)
But they likely did it because the stalks got in the way of the far more important flappy paddle shifters; something not needed in an EV.
Nothing done on a Tesla is not done without the idea of reducing the part count and therefore the cost.
Is a huge touchscreen really the best way to interact with a vehicle in motion? Does it really make sense to have to take your eyes off the road to check your speed (and a glance down to look at a analog speedometer is quicker than to the side and down for a digital readout). Is that really better than either a display in front of the driver or a head-up display?

My local supermarket is 3 miles away, but there are five roundabouts to get there. The law in Victoria, Australia requires you to indicate when exiting a roundabout. I don't know how Tesla has passed the Australian Design Requirements with indicator switches that change position in roundabouts. Do they light up at night? Sounds very dodgy to me. I note that Tesla Bjorn Nylands has fitted SEXY buttons to replace the stalks.
BTW, a good outcome for us lucky vintage Tesla owners with stalks is that the software now allows us to go from full Right to full left without cancelling in between. I take it the new steering wheel buttons don't have a three blink option.
