  • daviddas.com -- In this video, I explore the free Avid Control app available for iPad and Android, which can interface not only with Avid's Pro Tools, but any other DAW that supports the popular EuCon protocol. As an avid user of MOTU's Digital Performer, I explain how to get Avid Control up and running in DP, but these instructions will help users of almost any DAW get up and running quickly.
Obviously, this requires a tablet (iPad or other) of some kind.

I am curious about one thing: A lot of composers especially for orchestra soundtracks use faders to control the instruments velocity etc. But those controllers are hardware + wired. I am curious if using this tool over wifi is still "stable" and "reliable" while having no noticable input lag :) Maybe you or someone else in the comments has some experience?

Sounds good! Excellently presented. Any idea why AVID are giving it away for "free"?
I know it eats up time you'd probably prefer to spend on something else, but it might be worthwhile creating a version for PC users (maybe Cubase??), in case there are any PC vs. Mac gotchas

The only part that would be unique to Cubase would be configuring Cubase to look for a EuCon control surface, which is probably just a click or two.

Thank you , David, for this great tip!
Unfortunately, it seems that Avid Control, in my iPad Pro with iOS 16.6, can't seem to connect with my WiFi although my Mac(s) and the iPad are certainly on the same network.
In the Mac, EuControl doesn't display anything in the All Surfaces list.
Is there some fairy dust that has to be sprinkled somewhere?

No idea. That's really strange. But it seems like the root problem is the iPad not connecting to the right wi-fi network, so I'd focus in on that. (Not EuControl, which is guaranteed not to work if you're on the wrong wi-fi network.) Try troubleshooting the wi-fi settings of the iPad with Apple or on Apple Discussions.
