    Great Coverage, Rhett! Love seeing The Buck Local pass through the two derailed locomotives.

    That’s the only thing bad about running under dark signals because you don’t never know when something like that happens until the train is right up on it and then it’s too late

    I live close by. I had no idea this happened. Almost every article I checked says "derailment" while only a couple say "collision". I couldn't find anymore info. Thanks for the info.

    Seeing a Warbonnet being scrapped is just tragic. I feel like they should have done something to preserve that engine since there are fewer and fewer classic ATSF warbonnets left on the mainline. Hopefully the other remaining warbonnets can be preserved before they risk hitting the scrapyard like BNSF 758 here.

    • @louisvillerailfan
      @louisvillerailfan  Месяц назад +8

      They scrapped it because the warbonnets are some of the oldest mainline power BNSF has so fixing it would just not be worth it, especially if there's frame damage.

      I had a warbonnet (705) come into my grain terminal, and when I said I wanted to keep that the lead engine when we loaded the cars, the engineer and conductor that brought it to the terminal laughed and said “That piece of junk?” They didn’t care to run since it was an old Dash 9. They are used to the newer GEVO’s they typically get to run. Specifically ES44C4’s.

      @@erikih706 In that case they should look at donating them. Old as they may be, they are an important part of railway history and should be treated as such.

    Years ago I noticed that the switch into the recycling plant was left unlocked, the lock just dangling by the chain. I called the BNSF number and they didn't seem to care.

      @timmyfrierson2684 Месяц назад +1

      Yeah, I know right I wish BNSF would repaint all of those war bonnets back into their original paint skiing because that red and silver sure did look good and you know after the merger they put those war bonnets and Storage and those engines didn’t have that many miles on them. That’s why you see a lot of them back out there now.

    Did the bridge succumb to the derailment ? The structure with a very temporary-looking shim on the center support has the trappings of a hastilt buily bridge with a 10 mph order.

    • @louisvillerailfan
      @louisvillerailfan  Месяц назад +1

      The bridge in this was a temporary fix I do believe. The original one that was here was destroyed in the accident.

    3:20 How interesting seeing the mee-mool lights *(o)T(o)* activate sequentially! Why? (At firsthoughthathere was a problem.) Is the bell really that tinny sounding? 6:20 Crew should wave, not wake nearby night workers withe horn. Nice video! Thank you.

  • @hughroney6342
    @hughroney6342 Месяц назад

    Is BNSF exempt from American Law? Didn't hear any horn on the train at 4.35 and only heard 2 on one before

    • @louisvillerailfan
      @louisvillerailfan  Месяц назад

      In Boulder yes. There is a quiet zone in affect for all crossings in Boulder which allows the trains to not be required to sound the horn at each grade crossing. Personally, I'm not a fan of quiet zones.

      @@mrvwbug4423 Indeed it is. Definitely gonna need a lot of work but some good news is a bunch of money was just set aside for a project that will add a siding between Broomfield and Denver as well as upgrade the tracks from Broomfield to Denver to have signals and CTC/PTC.
