- I really did try and be nice! haha but no guys make sure you are respectful to charities and that you're being charitable to others! Make the right decisions and I PROMISE you'll feel amazing! This incident really reminded me on my favorite comedian/friend Anjelah Johnson (He a Homeless) and she is right the LA Homeless are so different haha. one year me and my mother found this family of 7 on craig's list, both parents lost their jobs and they had no money for food so we took all of pour left over to them(I have a big family so we had tons of food)and they had a 17 yr old son and he was crying so hard wen we gave him the food and before we left the mom stppe us and said "i don't have any money or anything of value to give u but I make jewelry if that is ok?" and my heart dropped. this woman is the most thoughtful person ever. even when she had nothing she still wanted to give. that was my story hope u liked it!

I went to Boston on a field trip, the day prior to this my teacher told us to ignore the homeless. On the day of said field trip I brought 7 dollars in quarters to carry around, with every homeless person I saw I gave them a quarter, one woman even hugged me. Needless to say me teacher flipped out at me, so being the little bitch I can be, I looked him dead in the eye and said, "Sorry you have a stick up your ass, but I actually have a heart." Btw that 7 dollars was my lunch money, but by the time lunch was around I had no money left. So worth it though. I'd rather go hungry for a few hours than for the homeless to starve for a few days.

One night when I was leaving five guys with my brother this homeless guy asked if I had any thing to spare, I said no I don't have cash just card but you can have my drink I refilled it before I walked out. He gave me this look of disgust and said with a nasty attitude, I don't drink soda. I'm like neither do i its water. He's just like, oh no I just want cash. In my head Im like, mother effer it's just water. Why are homeless people in California so picky and rude. I told him, well sorry I don't have cash on me. Just try to stay safe and warm out here and he had the nerve to soo me off saying yea whatever. I guess that's California for ya.

It's not just homeless people in California that are picky and rude it's pretty much almost everyone. Homeless or not. The people in California are shitty. But when you do meet nice people they're the best people ever.

I had an experience with a homeless man one time where I was driving to the mall and he was standing near a redlight under a bridge. He was holding this sign that said something along the lines of "anything is a blessing" and I have always been the type of person who would help out those in need. So I handed him a 10 dollar bill and he said "God bless you" and started to cry, which made me tear up. while I was was waiting for the light to turn green I look in my rear-view mirror and every car behind me was holding money out there window. I was overcome by this warm feeling, I had started a chain and I know that homeless man got money from at least five other drivers that day. It was an amazing experience!

I was in DC with my friends and I saw a homeless lady asking for money. So walked over to her and I reached into my purse. There was another homeless lady behind her. I think it was her mother. She told me not to give any money and that she had a lot of cash already. I wanted to be nice so i gave the lady and her mother 20 dollars and the lady was like thank you. I was so happy and i was cheesing and before i walk off this chick is gonna pull put her wallet. Which had a 50 dollar bill in it and put my 20 in there! I walked up to and i asked her i said you have 50 dollars. She just stands there. Im like if you have 50 dollars why are out here begging for change there is a whole foods market and a dollar store that sells clothes right across the street. She told me to go away before anyone hears me. So i just stand there. And then i hear a noise and this chick pulled out her iPhone 6 and answered it. It was her husband. She was like hey honey cant talk right now im at work. So i just walked off and caught up with my friends

Oh my gosh that is crazy- the ones that truly need help are put down because of the thieves and cons -- I try to help when I feel like I should and if they are doing it for the evil shame on them. I lost a home and car due to a near death experience -- I got minimal help after/ very humiliating, it can cause one to grow a cold heart easily -- I don't know how anyone makes it-- rent food and all the basics is bad enough- all of it is sad

I had a pregnant girl hit me up for money at a shopping mall. Tired looking and dirty as hell. I gave her all my cash and stepped away. I looked back 5 seconds later and she was nowhere to be found.
Then some Asian chick with a laminated badge said she was collecting for kids with cancer. Gave her some bucks, gave my email. Turned around 10 seconds later she was nowhere to be found even when others were coming out of the store. Never got an email.
Was waiting for my sister to come out of the grocery store in a packed lot, a stinky woman came to the truck and explained she wasn't from here and having a bad time. I gave her my cheeseburger from Wendy's because I had no cash. She took it, walked across the lot to another truck, got in the drivers seat. When her boyfriend (?) came out, she handed him a white bag and they sped off eating doublecheeseburgers, looking like it was just another day. I don't give them sh*t now.
Maybe if the homes in LA weren't 3 million dollars, there wouldn't be so many homeless people

I WAS In California last summer... and we were walking around.... and I saw this homeless lady next to some burger place with a sign asking for money... so I walked into the burger place.... and bought her some food.. like I spent 30$ on food for this chick.. I also gave her an extra 10$ I walked up to her.. and she said oh.. no thanks I'm a vegitarian! I was thinking.. your homeless.... I don't think you can decide on what you can eat! I gave her the 10$ and she said.. I don't except anything less than a 20$... so I took da food... and gave the girl a 20$ out of the kindness of my heart... gur got me mad..

Alx James Lol I remember my mom and I went to get a subway sandwich and as we were walking out this homeless guy in a wheelchair approached us asking if we could purchase him a sandwich. So I said I'd pay for it and my mom asked him what kind he wanted and he wanted the pastrami sandwich. So we walked back in the store and told the cashier we wanted to buy another sandwich for this homeles guy outside. She was like "Oh no, he always asks for the same sandwich everyday and he eats 6 sandwiches a day. Thoose sandwiches are like 10 dollars." We was like "10 dollas?!!! Oh hell no. He aint that hungry eatin 6 sandwiches a day. We aint gettin him no sandwich!!" That dude almost had me feelin bad. But he livin large eating six FOOTLONG pastrami sandwiches lol. He gon' alright. Lmaoo
There was this one time when me and mom mom were driving along and we saw a homeless lady that appeared to be pregnant. It was winter time so we felt bad for her. We proceeded to give her 10 dollars and an apple pie (since we just cam back from McDonalds). She said her thanks and we went on our way. The very next day we drove past there again and she had no belly bump whatsoever. We decided to see how far this lie went. We then came back later that day. She was ending her "shift"'of standing there and went to the nearest parking lot. No joke she unlocked her BENTLY, changed into some nice ass clothes with Uggs, and literally drove the fuck off. Ooooo gurl you have no clue how pissed me and my mom were. DIS BITCH HAD SOME SERIOUS STANDARDS MKAY.

My church just got back from Mississippi...... we gave away free food, clothes, toys, dishes, silverware, and coats. It was SO sweet to see people's reactions... and that warm feeling when you go to sleep at night knowing you helped someone is amazing. EVERYONE DO IT! IT'S SO WORTH IT!!
Once I gave a homeless old man that was living under a bridge for weeks a $100.
I did not see him or his pile of stuff ever again after that.

Although, yes he could have died. However, if he did then he died happy and no longer had to suffer on this earth.
Yet something in my heart is telling me he is better off where ever he is now.

Over the summer when I went to Washington, D.C. I made food for the homeless. I made 30 bagged lunches and walked up to random homeless people around parks and everything and have them a lunch. They all were very happy and some said "God bless your soul" and some said "I'm gonna remember you for the rest of my life." My dad use to dress up as Santa with some friends and go to the homeless on Christmas and give them presents of food, blankets, pillows, etc. thank you alx for letting me share my story
one day i was in new orlens and i was feeling good so i see this family of homeless people there was a mom a dad and a boy so i had my savings from doing chores, it was was $152.00 and me my dad and big brother were on a strip so in a alley there was the family sad cold and hungry and i remember seeing the boy on his dads lap crying and clutching his tummy so i said to my dad im going in that store over there so i go in the store and i bought them shoes and as much food as i could and i bought 5 blankets and i warmed my heart to see that little boy with a smile on his face pointing at my it was great so i walked over to the boy and his parents and said have a great day they were so happy i had a smile on my face even though i had no money

one time my family and I were going to stripes on sidewalk saying hungry because that was the "only" word he knew. so we are feeling so damn generous like God has sent us down here for this fu***** reason. so we go into the store buy him a jumbo hot dog q big family size of barbecue chips and a few taquitos. and we go to the spot we found him before and somebody else comes hands him a brand new pair of clothes and these are his exact words: "thanks bro, umm there's these people who are gonna buy me some food so you better go". we didn't see it so we thought someone else was there. as my sister and I approach him and ask what size drink he wants and he apparently he was still holding all of his stuff and he said to us large but don't get ice in it it'll melt. and we go in the store and buy the food he " really needed" and walk up to him and start handing it to him while he didn't notice we were there and he apparently had a big *** 12 pack of McDonald's and starts shoving it in his mouth he looked at us and said "SORRY DO I know you!!?!" we just walked away after that and left him alone. we go back THE next day and he's begging someone else with I'm hungry and we tap those people on the shoulder and said: "if you guys know what's good for your bank account you better get away from this bitch" after that we just walked away and never saw that dude again. we weren't trying to be mean and rude but that bull**** needed to be handled.

A few years ago it was winter and I live in Virginia it was VERY cold! I seen a man walking in socks I ran from my car to him (good thing he didn't think I was going to attack him lol) then gave him some money and said God bless you he said thank you it was my privilege tho. I seen him the very next day with shoes on. :) ❤️🙏
In Chicago, there is a big problem with cons pretending to be homeless. There are even parents who pretend to be homeless around the holidays to get free Christmas presents for their kids.

One time I walked out of a coffee shop and I saw 2homeless people sitting their in the cold so I went back in ordered 2hot coffees and a dozen donuts went over to the ATM that was in the coffee shop and took out $40 gave them each a coffee and a twenty and sat the donuts down between them the man stood up and gave me a hug blessed me and thanked me I realized the woman was wearing shorts and a t shirt so I ran over real quick to the store near by I bought he a whole new outfit shoes jacket a sweater 2 pairs of pants warm socks a hat and gloves I bought the man pants warm socks and a sweater seeing that he already had all the other stuff so I came back handed them the stuff and the man was so great full and the woman just gave me a dirty look so I asked her if their was something wrong she stands up looks at me throws the cloths at me and says this isn't some charity I don't need your help I'm doing fine... I looked at her like bitch u know where u r right u r in no shape to be staring a fight with me but I said nothing instead I said its pretty cold out r u sure then the man said calm down honey she's just being nice then she stomped off saying she was going to check on Emily so she walked down an ally way and I asked the man whose Emily he said our daughter I asked how old she was he answered 3 and my heart just melted I asked is she OK dose she need anything he said no no you've done enough already a said can I see her he said I guess I fallowed him down the ally way and their she was laying in a makeshift tent on a broken mattress I almost cried she was so skinny she had bruises and scratches on her arms and legs so of coerce I go back to the store buy her some cloths and buy them some canned and jars foods that won't go bad and I give them to them and I say goodbye but of course I ask them if they need anything I would offer to give them a place to live but I'm only 13 I don't even have a place of my own and of course my dad has no faith or trust in people so I couldn't but every day that I pass that coffee shop I always stop in and at the least give them lunch until one day I passed by and ... They weren't their any more I can only hope and pray that they found somewhere nice to live
I tried to help a homeless a few years back. It was a woman about 45-50 years old, it was 42 F. outside and she in a dirty pair of jeans and a short sleeve T. I walked over to her and gave her 50.00 and handed her my coat and said I hope this helps God bless. She looked right at me then my coat and back to me took the 50.00 and said you keep the coat dear I am not so bad off I need to wear something that looks like that. :O And then just walked off singing Hey Good Lookin'

Hey I think you should know this a few weeks ago at the start of school I pulled a all nighters trying to do homework so I was tired in the morning so I went to the store to get a five hour energy and I see this man in a wheelchair and I ask him if he needs any help and he said of a dollar would be lovely so I reach in my bag and I give him a five dollar bill and he starts crying he explains that no one has ever been so kind as to give him five dollars

when i saw 10 me and my mom and my brothers were going to eat and when we arrived there was this one girl like about 16 with a cute little baby so my mom stopped the car and parked and we got out the car and my mom went up to the girl and asked if she was hungry and she said yes so we took her to my house and she took a shower there and we cleaned her baby up and put some of my little brothers old baby clothe on and we were all ready going out to eat so we took them with us and the girk was all thankfull and after that we went home and my mom was like would u like to stay with us for alittle while u find a job and the girl was like yahhh so she stayed with us and till this day she still lives with us and my mom treats her like a daughter.

yo I never comment on shit, but my boyfriend is homeless and on I stayed with him in a tent on Christmas, and I have uggs. I myself cannot afford them but was given them. I know most people are assholes and probably wouldn't date a homeless dude, but that could have been like a gf or something. I dunno, I don't judge people based on the shit they have. I can honestly say this bf has treated me better than anyone in the past has, and makes me really happy. luckily he is staying with a friend bc I'm from pa and it's cold af here. c:

Love you Alx, but just because people are homeless, that doesn't mean they don't have access to thrift stores where they can buy out of season UGGS, temporary facilities where they can spend the night and charge their devices, etc. Not all of them definitely, but some get lucky :)

Prepaid phone services aren't that expensive... here in Aus you can get them for $1 a day, or even less depending on how much you use.
in the U.S. there is a government service that will provide them for free, you just have to qualify for the assistance.
One time befor I could drive I walked like 2 miles to get pizza with my brother. When I was walking home my brother was eating pizza. I was thinking I'll just eat when I get home. We walk by a homeless man my brother gave him the whole other pizza. We bought 2. He ate so much and I got a piece. But it was helping him soo.

Ok so I was in this little town in North Carolina and I saw this homeless guy. I felt bad for him and I thought well he's probably thirsty or something. So I go and get him something to drink. He says I don't want it. I don't like it, and I was like whaaaaaaaat?!? I'm trying to do something nice here. I will buy u some Starbucks if u want. But he's just gonna be picky. So I'm out with my girlfriend and we see a homeless man on the side of the road, I said, "hello sir", then he he was all like get away, and then I'm thinking he just saying that cause he don't know your intentions, so then I say, " I can't do that sir, I'm going to buy you a shirt and some shoes, so I go inside walmart, and buy and shirt and the largest size of shoes they had, so I go back outside and he looked at the shirt and was all like, I don't red, and being the black person I am, I said, well you gon take this red shirt today whether you like it or nah" he said, who you yelling at lil girl I'm old enough to be yo daddy, I slapped the mess out him then my girlfriend like oh my god nevaeh why you slap him and I said cause he was being rude and I hate rude people

I grew up in an area too cold for too many homeless people to stick around, but once I moved into a bigger city, it was culture shock at first but I got used to it. And then I saw an elderly man picking through a trash can, in the middle of the most busy tourist place, and pulling out mostly eaten scraps of food to eat. I was internally crushed. I really wish I would have done something for him.
But there are PLENTY of people working their corners, faking it, they all have their own act: really sad, in need of medical attention, deaf, crazy, etc. We had a guy trying to ask for $100 claiming that he was about to miss his train and he would have to sell his phone if he couldn't get the price for the ticket. He kept changing story mid sentence from Greyhound, to regular bus, to train, to Amtrack, so yeah, dude was lying. Then I looked up an Amtrack from point A to point B he was talking about, and it didn't exist. I guess he forgot that Washington D.D. wasn't actually located in WA state. :P
Another time I was harassed by a crazy old lady who smelled like fecal matter, who was flailing around with one arm but there was blood dripping down the other (I was so terrified she would bleed on me!) screaming and crying for money. I told her I didn't have any money, but I had food (right there in my hand), and she goes flailing and screaming and crying even more. Luckily, a security guard for the nearby building scared her off.
Basically, DON'T EVER give money unless the homeless person is local and you see him/her regularly and figure out they aren't lying. If you offer someone food and they refuse it, they only want the money for drugs and alcohol. :( If you want to truly help, donate food, clothing, money, and time to homeless shelters, and groups that help out homeless and low income people/families. If they truly want help, the homeless will go to these resources, rather than peddling for money.
