Hey Shaun, maybe it's just me or maybe I missed something even though I watched your video a few times. Can you please just tell me exactly what it is that I'am looking for? Is it a proof coin weighing 2.5 or is it a business strike weighing 3.1? Or is it something other than that?

I suspect that he is trying to say that a copper proof coin from the S mint could have ended up being punched by a P die, even if an employee purposely inserted one of these copper planchets in a Philadelphia machine it would barer an S mint mark since the coins were already punched prior to leaving the San Francisco mint.
To pull this off there would have to be a wayward employee from S in cahoots with one from P in order to sneak a blank copper planchet out of the San Francisco mint & one in Philadelphia that could get it thru a Philly machine, than it would simply be a no mint marked.

Business Strike weighing 3.1 or 3.2 would be the error. Proof and Satin finishes were made weighing 3.2 grams

    • @seangonzales2674
      @seangonzales2674 2 года назад

@@momontelongo2223 if its a proof or satin finish i believe thats normal if its a business strike then I think you may have something like I do. From my research atleast "Only the Satin and Proof Finishes were supposed to weigh 3.1/3.2 grams" The regular business strike was not. It was supposed to weigh 2.5 grams. Although the information in Redbook differs from what the sets say. The Proof and Satin Sets of the 2009 say that only they are supposed to weigh 3.1/3.2 grams and are made of copper. Redbook I believe states that even the Business Strikes can weigh 3.1/3.2 grams so I'm not 100% sure. Even the when the guys talk about them on their channels they say only the Satin and Proof finishes should weigh as the copper does and not the business strikes. My gut tells me I should be right in the fact that only the Satin and Proof finishes should weigh 3.1/3.2 grams. It wouldn't be the first time the Redbook was wrong. It doesn't happen often but I have heard it has made errors before. So with all that said sounds like you and I need to send our coins in to PCGS or the other place to have them graded.

Interesting transitional error is the 1972 Lincoln Cent that was made into a silver piece. The one that was PCGS graded was taken by the government and eventually the legal case settled and the coin was valued at a nifty 1 million dollars.

no clue what you're on about my dude,. the Mint set P+Ds were 3.11g coppers also. good luck trying to tell satin finish from regular finish especially after is't circulated a bit. proofs are proofs and the C&C set are too different.
Business strikes were zinc cores, but the mint sets were copper as well as the proofs.. so there are plenty of P+D copper. I think you'd need to find a zinc in a mint set for it to be certified as a transitional error, not a copper in circulation.
you don't have to go back to 2009 for something like this,. there the 2017 "no P" people are still looking for, and people are looking for a 2021 Washington crossing, with an ATB obverse, or a Tuskeegee with a Washington crossing obverse mule.
    Also unlikely to pop up.

And the Quarter mabe strike through or rpm ..but the D on Washington's chin is much smaller and I'm just stuck so any of your wisdom and experience is deeply appreciated.....crap i cant insert a pic ill try in another comment tysm....

Sean, I have seen 2 of these super recently. A guy turning himself in had a baggie with a few different coins, wanted $100 for the bag, I didn't have that right then, and I could identify the steel pennies, but also the coins were filthy, and he did take them out to show me and the first thing I thought was those are real? They looked so foreign and fake to me. Tried to track the coins down after I googled it.... arg!! They could still be with his belongings in the jail. I'll have to keep trying. Yes I feel sick about it. 😬

Hey Shaun love your work I am Canadian and have found 2 of the formative year Lincoln cents. One of them appears normal the other entrigues me because the index finger appears doubled on the end and if I count the fingers without the thumb I count 5 maybe I'm crazy but I don't think so, never thought of weighing the coins. That will be my next step to see if I have a 3.1 gram. Thanks for the info.

I would like to talk to you about my coin. I am a collector moving into the market of selling. I have a 1967 half dollar weight 11.34 grams which it should of been 11.50 grams rare but impossible find. Took it to a pcgs dealer on their website his weight was 11.34 grams. I sent pictures to pcgs they said the coin don't exist with 11.34 gram kennedy half 1967. Now I puzzled. OK??? Could this be a thin planchette or experimental strike test piece. 1967 copper nickel clad kennedy face obverse and reverse eagle gold. All around the rest of the coin cold black beauty with toned hue of yellow blue green reds shiny a sight to see.

    Dude don't get me wrong.
But you are way too long-winded in your videos.
Would like to see you talk more about the coins in perspective and make it short. What detail.
Your videos are way too long and it gets very boring.

I don't know if that was alert for somebody else because they said something about cryptocurrency but I was curious why so I hit it. However I'm more interested in what you have to say about these coins that's why I tune in. So I hope you're not blocking me from this channel.

But how would you tell the difference between the two different set of dies would it just be the fact that you found an 09 copper penny in circulation that was one of these commemorative types or what because the numbers up to three now for me I found three copper 09 pennies they're from the Philly mint because they don't have a mint mark you know but I don't expect to get no response not because you're an a$$hole lol but because you probably get bombarded with comments and it's hard to pay attention I get it but I wish somebody would take a shot at answering that question
