Hey everyone! There’s some build info in the description as I think I forgot to mention the handlebar etc 😅 Sorry about the audio levels in parts of the video, still figuring things out 🙈 I normally just do voiceover, but might do some “in front of the camera” chatting if I get a microphone or something to help that. Thanks heaps for checking the video out 🤙 Thanks!
Stoked to have one! Would be cool for you to find one now though, keep an eye out just in case 😎👍 thanks for stopping by. Yeah I love these trails! Really nice network with a good range, lots of old trails for these old rigs too. Really fun riding them Cheers 🤙
Awesome video mate, so excited to see a new built up…laugh out loud moment with the footage of that hub disintegrating 😂 some amazing projects, really looking forward to those videos😊
Haha wish the slow-mo picked up that tiny piece flying off 😆 but the noise of it snapping off is great haha. Thanks for checking it out and will see you in the next one soon 😄
Beautiful built toasty it looks really good. U done a amazing custom build on this one. I had a toasty rides marathon today .... Keep up the good work mate ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you! Yeah they had a pretty good idea what they were doing, as it turns out. The hydraulic rim brakes feel really good 👌 require a little less power input than canti’s, but more than discs. Haha yeah sorry about the music, too many copyright strikes (which is done by RUclips’s auto system that’s overly sensitive) so I don’t get to put music on every video now. I’m doing tests with RUclips’s royalty free music though so hopefully get that down at some point 🤞
For the rust in the Seatpost spot, try a die grinder tool with a wire wheel attachment, next time works good since you can control the rpm, Thanks for the vid brother!
Haha yep all the nicer 90’s parts are at that point, read about lots of TNT/Ringle/Nukepreof failures. Don’t see why the lighter/higher end parts fetch the big $$ if people know they’re going to die 🥴 like the expensive Kooka cranks that are prone to cracking 😣
Thank you! Oooh cool, fixed gear cadex would be awesome 👌 where did you get the dropouts or did you make them? Would love some for mine, think it’ll be SA 👍
Thanks, how did you like them? Apparently they’re quite aggressive on rims, but will be interesting to hear from people using Koolstop salmons pads (as they’re nicer on rims with other brakes, too).
got me thinking about snagging my dad's old FSR and doing it up like this, the sunrise bar would fix his only complaint about it and get him riding again
That would be an awesome project! The sunrise bar definitely helps bring the riding position up, quite a comfy bar with a little bit of backsweep (that isn’t an unnerving amount to those who don’t like backsweep, either). Lovely bikes the old FSR’s, really fun 👍
good video. you can get online brackets that fit into the brazed cable guides and which hold the hydr. hose in place. in parallel to the cable guide. I use them and they're great. thanks for the video!
Haha would have thought the buckle would be bigger to be honest 😂 lots of e-bikes rolling around with broken spokes though, don’t see them break hub flanges though 😵💫
I thought the sound of the shock was parachute pants, or some kind of nylon rubbing together… like a windbreaker when you’re running. Cool bike. Cool video.
Haha it does sound like it 😆 heard the chain slap a lot more in person than the squeak, but the GoPro picks up weird noises more 🤷♂️ Thanks for checking it out mate! Have a great day 🤙
Just found it on Trademe, our local auction site. Was in my city, just got lucky and offered the seller a fair price. Thanks! Happened to have a green chainring around and the brown parts suited it so well too 😍
Challenge accepted Parts broken Fun was had 👌 Will get it rebuilt and try to wrangle it some more, a dropper post would really help it on trails 😅 I suck at riding with the seatpost up all the time
Thank you and thanks for checking the build out! I use Penrite wheel bearing grease, from Supercheap auto. But there are other wheel bearing greases that would be suitable too, Gulf Western wheel bearing grease I know is the same viscosity and works great.
Oo I have a couple road projects! Just didn’t show them as they’re hanging up so a bit harder to show off 😅 a Raleigh dynatech (ti & chromoly frame), a Trek 1220 and a couple steel frames too. 😎👍 I want to do the Trek soon!
@@toastyrides ahh, it'll be beautiful, thanks you) I made fixie from low price roadie recently "hvz" and that something else, I wanna say)) it's big pleasure ride it. heavy, but that simpleness and comfortability make it best option for every day aesthetic ride ❤️❤️
Hi there, love your channel. I am in Auckland and am looking for a really nice rigid 26 inch 1 1/8 fork with V brake mounts. I am restoring a 1996 Bianchi mtb. Do you know of anyone that has a nice fork to sell. I am not on facebook

audio was fine. the only thing that cought me was the noise from that rear sus, and that poor flange.. maybe some chain slap too, but thats ok really.
Hey! Can you do a custom build for me?
Back in the day, that frame was one of my wants. Glad you were able to give it another life. Also, your trails look killer!!
Stoked to have one! Would be cool for you to find one now though, keep an eye out just in case 😎👍 thanks for stopping by. Yeah I love these trails! Really nice network with a good range, lots of old trails for these old rigs too. Really fun riding them

That's a gem of a bike and a great build, I hope you get miles of smiles from it 👍
Thank you! Will do as soon as the rear wheel is rebuilt, plan on getting a lot of decent trail rides in it over summer 👍 thanks for checking it out
Awesome to see the hub break! Nice build!
Haha had to put it in there 🫡 thank you and thanks for checking the video out
Oh man! The Alien! ❤
Really looking forward to riding that! 😍 stoked to get it, Michel sent it up from Nelson. Had to jump on it 👌💓
Beautiful built toasty it looks really good. U done a amazing custom build on this one. I had a toasty rides marathon today .... Keep up the good work mate ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Nice looking bike that.
I had no idea that Specialized were making full suspension bikes so early.
Hydraulic rim brakes !
Thanks for posting. Andy
PS I do miss the jingley music that was played during the fial assembly
Thank you! Yeah they had a pretty good idea what they were doing, as it turns out.

Thank you! Someone else mentioned a die grinder too, with a different attachment 👍 thanks for checking it out! 🤙
Those hubs are know to explode… Luckily you didn’t get hurt… Great video like usual…

If you have an air compressor, a Needle Scaler is a great tool for dealing with rust in hard tor each places!
Good tip! Haven’t heard of people using them on bike frames, haven’t had any issues with using it on bikes?
I got the Team S works version and made a Jason McRoy replica with mine.
Nice! Beautiful bikes the Team Sworks, nice tribute to make 🫡
Sweet ride. Top job on that LX rear mech.
Awesome build! ✨
Really excited about the CADEX! big fan of those, my fixed gear cadex with horizontal dropouts is insanely fun!
Thank you! Oooh cool, fixed gear cadex would be awesome 👌 where did you get the dropouts or did you make them? Would love some for mine, think it’ll be SA 👍
@@toastyrides I sent you the link to the files for the dropouts via instagram!
@@milyvean awesome thank you! I’ll check it out 😄🤙
Excellent vid as always!
Thank you! 🤙
I really appreciate your content, thanks for the effort. ❤
Thanks for the kind words! And for checking the video out 🙌💓 have a great day 😄
What a frame !!!
It’s so cool eh! Awesome colour too 😍
looking forward to the elevated stay! i wish there was more of those around.
Me too! Really like them, beautiful frames 👌 wish so too, I have a couple friends with them though 😁
Great video. Learned some new tricks which is good.
Thanks! Oh cool, glad you picked up some new things! Cheers for checking it out 👍
Awesome build. Those maguras really take me back..
Thanks, how did you like them? Apparently they’re quite aggressive on rims, but will be interesting to hear from people using Koolstop salmons pads (as they’re nicer on rims with other brakes, too).
Had them paired with ceramic coated Crossmax rims. Quite a combo.
@@noelsmith1852that sounds awesome, love Crossmax’s

Great bike ❤️

I mean, that must be a strong wheel build if it survives that well with a third of the flange missing 😂
Haha would have thought the buckle would be bigger to be honest 😂 lots of e-bikes rolling around with broken spokes though, don’t see them break hub flanges though 😵💫
I have a bike just like this that is in excellent shape and I only ride it in the city park. Cause I have a new stumpy for the trails. 🤠👍
I thought the sound of the shock was parachute pants, or some kind of nylon rubbing together… like a windbreaker when you’re running.
Cool bike. Cool video.

who doesnt like a stumpjumper?!
Crazy people 🥴 haha, love em. Didn’t know how it would ride but surprisingly stoked with it!
That place look like jurasic park,,i tought you would be joined by some velociraptor.
Haha it does have that feel to it, nothing to snatch us away here though 🥳😆 beautiful old forests this one 👌
Nice build - how about a Ging?
Awesome rebuild, such a cool bike! What kind of grease do you use?
Thank you and thanks for checking the build out! I use Penrite wheel bearing grease, from Supercheap auto. But there are other wheel bearing greases that would be suitable too, Gulf Western wheel bearing grease I know is the same viscosity and works great.
Chain slap can be minimized by going into big ring and high up in the rear. Just be careful not to cross chain or run out of links.
How do you cross chain a 1x?
@@toastyrides ooops. Didn't notice that. :( Guess you'll need a clutch DR.
Ok bike look is very good. Only one thing: uniposca is not good for paint metal part, you can use Edding paint marker for better works.
Thanks for the tip! Yeah it’s just what I had around haha, they work well on painted things though. Will pick some up 😄🤙
where can i find this kind of treasure
Keep an eye out, you’ll find it 😎 🤞good luck!
what kind of allen keys are those?
What stem and bars are these?
Hey! This is a Wethepeople supreme bmx stem, with a Surly Sunrise handlebar 👍

audio double over at 12.22 :p

My god I've never seen such nasty brake fluid! I've seen Magura royal blood turn green, but not so badly that it even colours the fresh fluid.
yikes at that RD cable shortness!
