Love the video! I just picked up an 89 stump jumper from craigslist, and it’s from the same bike shop as yours! I live in Boulder, Colorado so it didn’t travel nearly as far as yours 😅. The bike shop still exists at the same address and with the same number as the one on your sticker, pretty wild.

Thank you! Really happy with this bike 👌💗
Oh awesome! Yeah that Burgundy/Ivory is a beautiful colour, too.
It’s not too late for you to grab one, they still show up! Could even get one the same colour as your Sirrus 👍
The decals are from VeloCals (USA), very happy with the product. They do customisable colours, too.

    7:03 oh hey there Wheeler
does anyone know which country wheeler bikes are from? I love them and I saw loads of them in Slovenia, but for some reason here in central Europe they're not very common at all.

Love this build! Getting me very excited for a project GT I have. I'm curious about the front rack brackets you used. Is there a place to buy these online or did you fabricate them yourself?

Cheers! Oo a GT build would be cool 👌
If you check out my latest video I go over it, there’s a company but these ones are DIY 🤙 if you make them yourself you get the sense of satisfaction and also can customise it so the rack sits where you want it 😎

@@toastyrides Came here for this. The video is called "Rear carrier setup modified for the front!". I am trying to do the same. I think a lot of 80s and 90s MTBs only have fender mounts on the front fork and lots of folks want front racks now. Love your build style and videos are just the right pace for me.

How come you didn't put the basket on the back? Have you got a video about how you shortened your rack?

Hey! I’ve been looking for a solution for racks on my bike! Where do you get those brackets?

Love this refurb-build so much! What are your thoughts about (not) spraying a transparent topcoat? And I'm looking for a fork like yours: what is the brand of this one? Thnx and keep them vid's coming!

    • @toastyrides
      @toastyrides  2 года назад

Thanks heaps for checking out the vid! 🙌 it would be ok, I just wanted to more glossy and also to add some protection to the decals 🤙 I did get these VeloCals decals with the “glossy UV laminate” so they were technically protected, but my plans were to have the bike glossy like the 89 Stumpy.
Definitely some colours look better in matte, so depends what look you’re after 😎🤙

@@toastyrides Thanks for your reply. I have a project too and plan to spray 2K clearcoat to avoid chipping, it comes down to taste. Do you happen to know the brand of the donated fork? Thank you.

Anyone know if Velocals is still in business? I can't open their website.

    Specialized Hard rockのステッカーはオリジナルで販売されているものですか?
    塗装もレストアしてみたくなりました。

I recently discovered your builds and really enjoy the creativity in parts use on these older frames.
I have an 1986 diamondback apex, 1982 specialized stumpjumper, and a 1986? spec rockhopper. I’ve become very fond of tire air volume and wondering if you would guess the biggest 26” tire that might fit these frames and forks from your experience? do you have a rule of thumb? is it easiest just to measure? do actual tire widths vary from the stated widths? I’m looking for off road tire suggestions.
thanks for any help! keep on keeping on!

      I have a '92 RockHopper with 2.15" Maxxis DTH's; I don't think I could squeeze in anything bigger. HTH.
