I cant stop thinking of this build.. I m looking for something to do a build like this. The handlebar and basket makes it for me. Fork looks dope too.. love the colorway, in all just about perfection! Thanks so much
Thank you for the kind words! I love the vibe and execution of this bike 😎🤙 🥳
@@toastyrides where can I get that little basket mount thing you use in the front fork ?
Love the video! I just picked up an 89 stump jumper from craigslist, and it’s from the same bike shop as yours! I live in Boulder, Colorado so it didn’t travel nearly as far as yours 😅. The bike shop still exists at the same address and with the same number as the one on your sticker, pretty wild.
This looks like it just rolled off the line.... with a crowned fork! Seeing this in the wild would make me think I missed a meeting somewhere along the way. Amazing!
Restoring a vintage bicycle is relaxing and fulfilling. I've had the pleasure of building two vintage steel mountain bikes. I bought both frames on ebay, shopped for parts, built two good looking and highly fun-to-ride bikes. I watched several videos like your before taking the plunge.
Watching you build your old Specialized bike was a most enjoyable 23 minutes.
Sure is!! Oo nice, what frames did you find?
That’s awesome, glad you liked the video! 😄🤙
@@toastyrides Built up a Gary Fisher Hoo Koo e Koo and a lugged steel Shogun frame. I still have and love riding the Gary Fisher. A good friend begged me to sell him the Shogun MTB-1, so I reluctantly did sell it to him.
Just renovated a mid 90's Specialized Stump Jumper I wasn't sure if it was worth the time and expense. This video cleared all my misgiving Good job
Very nice. I like the details like the pink cable housing and the painted bar end caps.
Cheers mate 🤙 Yeah I didn’t want to overdo it but I think a few bits of colour don’t subtract from the colours of the frame too much. Love how the pink grips work with it 👌
Those decals make a super awesome finish, great restauration inspiration work!
They sure do! Was pretty easy, too 👍 cheers! 😄
@@toastyrides A beautiful build sir, where did you purchase the original style decals from?
@@hownhallshooting thank you! The decals are from VeloCals 🤙 lovely quality!
Dude amazing build!! The bike came together awesome!!! I know how much work this goes into this and the result is definitely worth it. You will be smiling everytime you ride this thing 🤗🤗🤗 also love the stair ride at the end !! Hahaa yessssss
Yoo thanks dude!!! 💗😄
Hahah yeah there’s heeeaps behind the scenes. I had a couple hours footage but trimmed it way down, think it turned out well 🤙
I do haha. Stair ride definitely inspired by all your ones 😎haha
Stay rad!
@@toastyrides Where do you get the little mount you used as the eyelet on the front fork for your rack?
In the 90's we had in France mopeds with these paint shemes. These were very nice, like this bike.
Massive fan! greetings from a Kiwi in London just starting out on the YT space
So fresh!!! Beautiful build, buddy. Cheers!
Thank you, means a lot! 🤙
This was a great restoration. I really love the classic look on bikes. It has so much class not to mention they last longer since they're made from steel. Great job man! Imma binge on your other restorations. Cheers!
Thank you!! 🤙 yeah I think this was a great era for bikes 🤩 exactly, they have a huge lifespan 👌
Thanks!! Hope you like the other videos 🤙 will have another out this week, it’s been delayed a bit as I’ve run into a few time consuming problems haha
Great build! Love that it was bought at Wheat Ridge Cyclery! I bought my first mountain bike there toot ('89 Specialized Rockhopper Comp.)
Thanks! Me too, love how it’s come so far 👌 nice bit of character.
Oh awesome, and a Specialized too!haha that’s cool. Thank you for checking out the video !
what an awesome build ! love the effort you put in this video !
Love your builds!! And your voice is so relaxing making it really enjoyable to watch
First minutes and I was already subscribed. Good stuff!
Haha thank you! Cheers for subbing 🤙 glad you’re liking the content!
Nice job. I am big fan of original paint bikes. Yes. They look rough after 20-30yrs. But that's the point. The character remains.
Wow. What detailed work and sticktooitiveness! And it came out beautiful! Love it!
Thanks heaps! Glad you liked the video 😎🤙
Great job! It looks just like the late eighties Stumpjumper. I just put a video up on my channel of an ‘89 Stumpjumper in the same paint scheme. Mine wasn’t a restoration but rather a 32 year old discovery found in storage. The bike was ridden maybe twice in its day. I love riding it around. I don’t have the burrito basket yet. 👍
Thank you! Oh cool, I’ll check it out!
Sounds like a great find 👌
Another stunning bike, this came out so well - love the component selection. Truly inspired by this for my next build - well done! 🙂👍
Thank you!! 🤙 awesome to hear! Hope your next build goes well 😎✌️
Amazing restoring. New life for this bike😉👍
Thank you! Yeah, so many more adventures ahead! 🤩
Good job restoring a beaut! You deserve more subs!
Thanks heaps! 🤙 more subs would be awesome!
You did such a great job painting this
Super nice build! Great to see someone break out the paint stripper, less work. I'd stay away from the 80 grit though. Cheers!
I have a real STUMPJUMPER right here in front of me it so cool just to stare at it
So shiny and clean no scuff on rims no dirt on chain the turbo seat still nice and clean man. I’m going to stare at it for a few more hours.
Nice! I love staring at my bikes, especially the Hardrock in this video. I’m so happy with how it came out 😍
@@toastyrides your bike hacked is really cool too nice job.
Gravelking SK are beast! And so are specialized retro modern builds.
Definitely! I’ve never had the 26” version, but they roll so well on road and will be a nice upgrade when I get some 👌
Absolutely incredible build
Thank you! 🤙😁
Nice job man! Looks like a fun ride.
Thanks! It is, it’s nice and comfy too 👌
@@toastyrides there’s a Rockhopper Comp with the same paint job ( different colors) for sale here in AZ. It’s in mint condition and I’m considering picking it up especially after watching this.
@@mc540flip Oo sweet!! That’ll be a fun ride 🤙
Turned on to your channel from a viewer after I posted my first retro-ish commuter build. What a fantastic channel! Great work! Subbed after 5 seconds of this vid.
Oh awesome, thanks heaps for subscribing! 😁🤙 I’ll check out your work 👍
Lovely resto bike. Great channel!
Using your videos as inspiration for the old Bolinas Ridge I'm resto-modding into a shop/commuter ride.
Subscribed👍
Another great build - well done mate
Cheers mate!! 😁really happy with how this came out 🤙
Nice bike, good content. Deserves more views.
Thanks 🤙
Sick paint job mate!
Just picked up a 1990 Bridgestone Wildwest as part of my rotation as a vintage MTB! This commuter setup is tempting but I'll contemplate if I'll have the budget for the upgrades. Loving my Bridgestone so far with the 90s colors (Lakers as I'd say with the yellow and purple) in it too.
Awesome video, I always come back to this when I contemplate on what I want mine to look in the future lol
Blue Lug!
And that is one RAD bike \m/
BLUE LUG ❤️ thanks heaps!! 🤙
The bike looks great . The Rockhoppers are great bikes but they do live in the shadow of the stumpjumper. I've been looking for a stumpy for a while and was able to find a few Rockhoppers along the way (4 so far) I got them all back on the road and one of them is currently my favorite bike bike to ride hopefully the 26 inch rigid mtb will finally get the respect it deserves
Haha that’s the way to go 🤙 I think it’s still quite a niche group, but they’re gathering quite a bit of support from a wide range of people it seems!
@@toastyrides Videos like this help also ppl are putting drop bars on them and making gravel bike I did a bmx/ klunker. It just shows how versatile they really are
Found a rockhopper for 70. New tires. Decent shape. That's good price?
@@truthhurts2149 I would grab it
@@yardsalecycles I am thanks.
Oh fantastic build.
Thanks 😁
That's a pretty cool bike 🤩👏👏👍
Love those shifters
Still use them on my surly big dummy
Nice, nice video. Best dream build video with a touch of DIY. I think slightly up stem with kind of Little Nick bar would be another option. Mmmm…no, this is already a beautiful bike.
I’d love to try the Little Nick bar, seems good! 😎👌 haha cheers 🤙 another Specialized video will be up tonight 🥳
yeah! 🔥
That looks amazing! Great video and restoration!!!
Thanks heaps!! 😎🤙
really nice work !!!!
Eugene Kieffels Wheat Ridge Cyclery. Every bit as iconic as The Yellow Jersey in Madison. His son was an original Slurpee and rode in the TDF.
Hey! I’ve been looking for a solution for racks on my bike! Where do you get those brackets?
Brilliant custom paint job. Going retro colours I would of used neon yellow cable housing and neon yellow handle bar grips as the fishing touches to the retro paint them.
Fantastic build!! Inspiration deluxe 👌👌🤘
+1 on Velocals for resto projects - used them recently on a build for my wife and they look perfect. Your bike is mint!
Beautiful
hey Adam! keep up the great work!
wow, this looks fire!
Great job. Greetings from Greece...
Thanks!! Greetings to you from New Zealand 😁🤙
Love the build 🚴♂️🔥💪🏽
Thank you!! 😄🤙
Very beautiful build
Shimano thumbies- awesome. They'll last forever!
Nice, I loved... I am keep learning with u, Well done...
Hi Michel! Thanks 🤙 cool to hear 😄 glad you liked it and thanks for checking out the video, have a great weekend!
Awesome restorations.
I just picked up an 89 Stumpjumper Team that needs a paint refresh. Same paint scheme as your’s except it’s so sunfaded that the front fork which was magenta is now offwhite. It’s actually too big for me (22 I think) so will probably pass it along after the rebuild.
Woah, nice find!! That crazy 😅 I’ve seen the decals faded to white, but never the fork faded to white!!
Damn, hopefully you find one in your size later on! 🤞 cool find though and thanks for sharing
Swell job pal
Cheers mate🤙
Sweet!
Looks amazing! Nice work!
Repainting a bike is challenging. The first time I did it I ended up doing a bad job and took the paint off and did it again. I nearly gave up on the whole project because of it.
Great build
Bike looks great! Love those handlebars.
Cheers! Yeah they’ve been comfy for me 🤙
Amazing job!
Thanks heaps!! 🤩🤙
Great build. What a lovely bike and cool video. Would love to do the same!
Thanks so much! Loving this bike still, will do an update video of my bikes as some have changed a bit. This one is largely the same just with different tyres and a couple other things 🤙
sick build!
Thanks heaps! 😁🤙 it’s even better now, it has Panaracer GravelKing SK tyres 😎
Awesome build bra.
beautiful! getting ready to do a vintage mtb build mysellf. nice vid
Thanks! Awesome, hope you have fun! 😁🤙
Cheers heaps 🙌
Love it! The colour way is timeless cool. Really like how the flake came out, might need to pick some up for a spray job I just finished.
Thanks! Yeah I love the flake, it looks better in person too 👌 can really see the colours of it, it’s awesome!
Turned out great👍🏾
Cheers boss! 🤙
so beautifull !
One of my favorites ❤️
I had a white with blue decal Hard Rock, one. A 92.I had to sell before moving N. Miss it a bit. Glad I have a heap of Bridgestones to Play with :) Any favorite replacement wheels? I have an MB-1 with some cheap replacement ones.
Great streaming
Mate that bike looks sexy! Well done! 👍
Thanks heaps! 😄🤙
Good job 👍🇬🇧
Thank you! 👍🇳🇿
I'm rebuilding a 1999 Gary Fisher Paragon right now and noticed that my frame came from the same bike shop in CO. I am not in CO.
How do you know its summer when it looks like that all the time!? Nice build, learnt a few things!
Holy cow!! I have a 1990 Stumpjumper from wheat ridge cyclery as well! Insane coincidence?
I love the video, got a stumpjumper I am building up from 1988.
Where can we get that bracket that goes on the fork eyelets for mounting a rack? Thank you
Men you inspired me to build one! Please upload more videos...
Also want to know where you bought the decal?
Will do 😄🤙 the decals are from VeloCals.com (US) and would definitely recommend their site 👍
i like commuter bike
Nice bike
26inchlifestyle
❤️🔥❤️ 🤙 YES
I wonder where he gets all those old moutainbikes with the huge frame sizes. All the old 26" mtb frames I have founs so far are tiny, I recently bougt one on ebay. The decals even say "oversizeed" but compared to a normal 28" city- or trekking bike it looks like a child bike. I also looked for some new 26" mtb frames, but its the same, they are sold as XL but are much too small for me.
Saya mau tanya Om,
Apakah bisa ban ukuran 26 x 1 3/8 di ganti dengan ban ukuran 26 x 150 ?
Salam kenal dari Indonesia 🙏🙏🙏
Great build and awesome vision! I recently picked up a hardrock for a similar build. Where did you find the decals?
Love the refurb! Im about to do the same with 1996 rockhopper. What paint remover did you use? Ive seen lots of people saying avoid these dab on removers as they are not effective but you had very good results . It would be great to get your opinion on a good product to use. Kind regards
Such a great build and video! I just bought one of these bikes and I wanted to put some wide tires like you did (26x3.0) did you run into any kind of clearance issues? And now that you look back at it would you have gone with something more narrow? Like a 27x2.15 etc
Great build, where I can get basket like that for my Marin project ?
👍👍👍👍😎
Keren emang ini..
Beautiful bike! Where did you get the front eyelet adapter bracket thing? That would come in so handy when fitting baskets to bikes without a front rack eyelet.
Hey! It’s a DIY bracket but there’s one called the “Gamoh rack adaptor”
How come you didn't put the basket on the back? Have you got a video about how you shortened your rack?
Love this refurb-build so much! What are your thoughts about (not) spraying a transparent topcoat? And I'm looking for a fork like yours: what is the brand of this one? Thnx and keep them vid's coming!
Thanks heaps for checking out the vid! 🙌 it would be ok, I just wanted to more glossy and also to add some protection to the decals 🤙 I did get these VeloCals decals with the “glossy UV laminate” so they were technically protected, but my plans were to have the bike glossy like the 89 Stumpy.
Definitely some colours look better in matte, so depends what look you’re after 😎🤙
@@toastyrides Thanks for your reply. I have a project too and plan to spray 2K clearcoat to avoid chipping, it comes down to taste. Do you happen to know the brand of the donated fork? Thank you.
Specialized Hard rockのステッカーはオリジナルで販売されているものですか?
塗装もレストアしてみたくなりました。
So, so DOPE build! Very Nice.
What tires are those???
❤️✌🏾
Thanks!! 🤙 the tyres in the video are 26x2.3 Maxxis DTH, but it now has 26x2.1 Panaracer GravelKing SK’s
That is beautiful. My first road bike was a 1989 Specialized Sirrus in a burgundy/ivory fade. The 1989 Stumpjumper also came in that burgundy/ivory fade, as well as the color pattern you have here. Always regretted not getting one of those Stumpjumpers.
Where did you get those decals from?
Thank you! Really happy with this bike 👌💗
Oh awesome! Yeah that Burgundy/Ivory is a beautiful colour, too.
It’s not too late for you to grab one, they still show up! Could even get one the same colour as your Sirrus 👍
The decals are from VeloCals (USA), very happy with the product. They do customisable colours, too.
Great build! Can you please share the frame size and your height please?
7:03 oh hey there Wheeler
does anyone know which country wheeler bikes are from? I love them and I saw loads of them in Slovenia, but for some reason here in central Europe they're not very common at all.
Nice job! Like the paint job. Did the Rockhopper come with biopace chainrings? Where did you get the tie-on chain-stay protector? We need some of those. Glad we found your channel!
