      Hi. Ive have litterly lost my life because of my chronic insomnia. I went from a very very healthy induvidiual tonight not sleeping one night and i have not sleept ever since. It started with alot of stress. My thought were raising and a i was overthinking and i was up all night. Then i went to days, thre days, 10 days. I was so sleep deprived i wanted to take my life. I went and did all the test at hospital, tryed every herb and supplement under the sun. Started to have these MAJOR anxienty attacks during the day wich could go on for hours! I was walking around like a maniac in my appartment during the day and couldnt relax, severe panic attacks. Then after like 2 mounths of sleeping 30 min-1hour a night i hade to reach out for sleeping pills. At these point i started to get very bad pain in my joints. And i took the sleeping pills (benzo, imovane" and did fall aslep, but it was like it wasnt i restfull sleep at all. I then try to come of them on my own and i was awake for 14 days straight, then i had to start again. Then i try to quite again after like 10 days of it. was up for 14 days. Then i have been on them ever since and it has fucked me up to a point where i dont wanna live anymore. I went from training at the gym to, cruthes for 5 mounths and now im in a wheelchar and all my joint feels so bad that i cant function a normal life at all. And my body is my life. Ive been trying to commit sucide several times but i cant just do it. Every day i struggle with the idea of continue of living and i lost all my savings, all my relationships have went to hell because everyone has their idea of why im not sleeping and so on.
      And all i have said all the time is. "its like everythime my head hits the pillow, my body starts to secret this adrenaline and i become super alert! Even if i have been severly "tired but wired" the whole day, my body just get in to this state. Ive had laid in bed for so many hours without sleeping, that everytime i just lay down, dosnt matter where. I started to have this reaction. And now ive become super addicted to sleeping pills, i have been taking so high doses that it has destroyed me, now im forced to come of them and im on day 3 of not sleeping more then 30 minutes. I even went out for the black market to get benzoes without perscription because im so desperate to sleep. And i just think to myself. This is not me. Im fighting for my life and i need your help. The thing is i have No money because of this situation. Can you please help me?

    My condition is different. I couldn't sleep during the nights but refused to take a nap during the days. I still wasn't able to sleep. I couldn't stand it no more, then on the 4th day I took a short nap. As a result, I was able to sleep couple hours that night. I really don't know why.

      @@joecas6484 thanks. My insomnia was due to stress and anxiety disorder. The worries about sleep also made insomnia worse.
      At first, I accepted to take nap so that I can sleep better at night. After couple days, I trained myself to just relax, during the day and at night time too. The key word is to relax. I went to bed when I am tired, laying there listening to my favor soothing music, enjoying my pillow, my mattress, my blanket, just to relax, not an effort to sleep. I didn't care if I can sleep. Then I slept in no time.

      it can helpful in the short-term. But can't be taken over longer periods without adding to problems . I have longterm insomnia.
      I did take some sleeping tablets here and there but although they work well in getting me to sleep, staying asleep for any healthy amount of time was still impossible..
      What works well for you, Espa?

      Hope you're doing better now. If not, look into magnesium...ashwaganda...valerian/lemon balm/passionflower are good at night...and be sure your vitamin D levels are good. Get morning and/or midday sunshine and/or take D3 plus K2. Get off caffeine 100%. Some of us can't handle it. :) There are many things you can try, so don't give up. Keep looking online and RUclips.

    Hi! I suffer for insomnia for years. I experienced a lot of trauma and anxiety. I tried everything. Diet, exercises, supplements. I work with trauma specialist at this moment and she suggested like you said in the first part of this video I have to retrain my body again to get int the habit of sleep. She suggested to get sleeping tablets but just for 3 weeks max to help me to learn sleep habit again. Do you have any suggestions what else could help me in this case? I didnt start taking any sleeping tablets yet and I would rather not to. Regards, Aneta

      You're having maintenance insomnia. If it's been going on for several weeks or more, my tip is to go through CBT-I, which is the first line treatment for insomnia. If you need further guidance, you can sign up for my complete insomnia program here www.drorma.com/insomnia-program/

    I’ve had insomnia since I was 10 years old, now 60 I may get 3 nights of sleep that is less than 4 hours a night. I retired early because I can’t get a good nights rest. I’ve tried SleepyTime tea that helps but not every night, I’ve tried Melatonin it works for a couple of nights then stop.

    I must say, Steve's videos are 100% on point and full of very helpful information that I think most of us get wrong. He has a way of explaining these concepts very well so you "get it." Each one I watch seems to be as good as the last. I haven't worked with Steve (yet) but it's clear to me that when you compare what he teaches against many others he has a deep understanding of the subject beyond most. Be sure to watch the anxiety and 3-attributes videos as well. Steve, I would love to know our thoughts on if those that are motivated could take your book and make real progress with that alone??

    • @PutInsomniaToBed
      @PutInsomniaToBed  3 года назад

      Hi and thanks for your comment. The book is good and goes over all the essential steps of CBT-I. I wrote it in 2014 and there's changes I would make to it now: a much more detailed sleep log which is critical for success and better structure and pacing for when to implement the skills. That being said, many people have told me the book helped them a lot. But it takes commitment and discipline to do it all on your own without support. Hope that helps.
