    This video is definitely very informative. Thank you so much, Dr. Brown, for your insight about vitamin K2. Natto is flavorless, no odor, and it comes in whole beans form. But, it's a bit slimy and sticky with slight and barely noticeable bitterness. It can be commonly found in the freezer section of any Japanese supermarket or most Asian supermarkets (imported from Japan). We enjoy the kind that comes with "ume"(plum) sauce. We also add a little finely minced scllion and fresh grated ginger or dikon(Japanese reddish). It's delicious and goes well with brown rice! The only question we have is "how much natto is equivalent to "100 mg of K2MK7 in supplement form" ?

    • @DrSusanBrown

      I'm really glad to hear you like the taste of natto. Some sources suggest that one tablespoon Contains150 µg of MK-7. It is a MK-7 powerhouse--happy eating.

    Thank you, doctor. I've been on 50,000 IU D3 and 200 mcg K2 MK7 daily for over a year and a half now and have been feeling truly superb and in my best health ever since. I recognize that this is generally regarded as an extreme amount of D3 but I was convinced by the efficacy and safety of it after researching doctors who have successfully treated their patients long-term with comparable therapeutic dosages. My D3 blood levels are indeed well beyond the range that is considered excessive or even "toxic" (200-250) but thus far I can anecdotally report no apparent issues and no calcification of my vessels, kidneys, soft tissues etc. thank you

    I notice that my MK7 capsules are 100 micrograms in strength, and I only take one in the mornings. Others I have come across are 120 micrograms in strength. There also seems to be some difference in opinion on the amount that should be taken. 120 micrograms is one example. I take MK7 with Vit D3, which is 1000 IU.

      @@annalane5430 vitamin K isn't destroyed by cooking heat. The natto bacteria likes heat, the bacteria is added to cooked beans when it's still 80 celcius / 175 F whereas the temperature of coffee is 60/140F. The range for the organism used in Miso is: 45C / 114 it doesn't like the heat as much as the natto organism.

    @21:05 I suppose she means vitamin D as IUs. 1000 IUs equal 25 micrograms (ug), so 1000 _milligrams_ (mg) would be an insane amount of vitamin D, even 1000 ugs would be too much daily for practically anyone, that’s 40 000 IUs.
    (An understandable slip in quite a long talk.)

    • @DrSusanBrown
      @DrSusanBrown  Год назад

      HI Pete, we use the measurement ng for Vitamin D, sorry for any confusion! The normal range of vitamin D is measured as nanograms per milliliter (ng/mL).

    • @pete_k
      @pete_k Год назад

      @@DrSusanBrown thank's for the response! _Intake_ vs blood levels are of course 2 different things. With blood level the measurement is obviously per some volume (like ng/mL), but I suppose @21:05 in the video the question is about intake, not blood level value, isn't it. The typical US unit is IU, but in (at least northern) europe micrograms are used. 1000 IU is 25 ug.
      (Such a pity that all these multiple units are used, and not just with vit. D. There's always a possibility for confusion.)

      I am no doctor. However, how high is your calcium score? If over 400---they say you're at major risk for a heart attack/stroke within a few years. I don't know how long it takes for k2/Mk7 & the other dietary food I eat for to reduce atherosclerosis. But get a stress test. A tomography. Atherosclerosis comes with age. Although it doesn't exactly mean your arteries are clogged just because you have a high calcium score. It's just a prodicter. Google it. One guy had a calcium score of 1,300. The doctor actually said, 'oh don't worry about it. Sometimes these test aren't accurate....'. When I went for my blood work, I stunned 2 doctors. They wanted to know how I lowered my cholesterol. Which wasn't so high. But I got it down further. Garlic cloves every evening with dinner. Apple cider vinegar. Zinc. Magnesium. Lots of oatmeal. Some people have a low calcium score but yet die of heart attacks. Some say it's generics. Hey, you gotta work out too. Not heavely. Walk. I walk about 2 miles 3 times a week. The culprit is since most people don't get enough vitamin k2 Mk7----the calcium goes to the arteries, instead to your bones. Lots of junk food does not have hardly any of vitamin k2 Mk7. Thus, calcification goes to arteries. See your cardiologist and get a stress test. If you pass it, it's good. But still. Not perfect. There are so many foods that help reducing plaque and calcium buildup.
      The less calories you consume----the less atherosclerosis. I try & stay at about 800 calories a day. I think this was why I stunned my doctors.... But there are people who eat salads 3 times a day, yet their sugar is still high. Some people just don't respond to diet. Predisposed. Good luck.

      I’m a vegan past 3 years to cure lymphoma. However, I have calcium deposits (uric acid crystals) in every bone and joint in my body. Plant based diets are deficient in K2. You must take Vit K2 as a supplement or sauerkraut, natto, etc. I wish someone had told me which would have avoided so much pain in my hands. Been on K2 for a month but it will probably take 3-6 months to heal my body. Look at Dr Berg’s videos on uric acid although he is a meat eater, there is some useful info there. Check out Dr Mercola on Vit K2, he is a good man with lots of natural health knowledge. Good luck, you are on the best diet in the world currently, contrary to what most failed vegans say. You HAVE to have the right vitamins and educate yourself to get well, doctors know very, if nothing, about nutrition. Tartar is composed of 4 minerals, cellular and extra cellular matrix. The cells are mainly bacteria and several species of yeast. Tartar is a calcified deposit that forms on the teeth. Plaque can eventually turn to tartar from minerals in the saliva. Dental plaque is soft, while tartar is hard. Plaque can be removed by brushing and flossing habits. Try removing the plaque with a toothbrush, toothpaste and floss before it becomes tarter instead of using Mk4 in accordance with the recommendation of the American Dental Association.
