I need to replace the battery on this one. I was thinking of using a fenix/nitecore 18650 or even 21700 (if it fits) that has a protection circuit built in.

hard to say, most commonly used for speakers is ferrite, but for some speakers can find strongest neodymium.

I repaired mine today, same problem, Micro USB connector broken and board lines stripped with it. I soldered a USB cable directly on the black connector pins of the CUP12726Y-4 daughterboard. Observe the connector coming from the main board, it has 1 white wire (+5v which correspond to PIN 1 on USB) and 4 black wires (Pins 2,3, 4,5 on USB). I took an old unused USB cable and cut it at the end. It has 4 wires, red (+5v), black (GND), green and white (TX/RX data). I removed TX/RX wires to save some space, then soldered GND on pins 4,5 of the daugherboard and the red wire between Pin1 and a SMD resistor immediately after it, to anchor the soldering. It works. Unfortunately the battery is dead so I can use the Denon with USB charger only. Dunno if it's worth to substitute the batteries, they costs half of a used speaker, and you need to tear down the old batteries to replace the BMS circuit. Lots of work 😓

Haha this is an instruction how to butcher speaker not how to disassemble it.
