    It was Christmas of 1966. Seemed that none of my friends were interested in yarn, except I had an older cousin show me how to cast on, knit & purl the Christmas my grandmother gave me 2 white knitting needles & a single ball of navy yarn (when I was 9 years old). Soon after, I saw a friend’s mom crocheting. She taught me a chain, sc & dc. From there I taught myself from patterns. I’ve always wondered if I was doing things right, but I just kept making afghans from patterns & giving them away. No idea how many.
    In THIS pattern It was so gratifying to read Row 19, figure it out, begin, & then be able to go to the video. Yes! I was right! I was gonna see about the “sk 2’s… & then a “skip 1”… but had figured out WHY already! Then I heard you say it! High five! 🤣

    Lovely braided Christmas tree skirt! 🎄 My lil desktop tree needs one, so I'm giving this a go with 1 or #10 thread/yarn. I thinks it'll turn out super cute! 🤗 Thanks Bonnie for this beautiful pattern tutorial! 💖

      Oh I love this idea! I have a ceramic tree that I put on my corner fireplace. I wonder if fingering or do weight would be best? My base is bigger. Its a Thomas Kinkade tree. Hey Bonnie Bay what do you think? Hey everyone help out an old lady fingering or do for a ceramic tree. The one I normally use is his tree with the train that goes around. But I have all his trees. Yep I'm hard to buy for so my kiddos give me these. I so love them.

    Oh, my...this is gobsmackingly gorgeous. I would love to make this for my niece and her family. They have 3 kids, 2 dogs...busy household. That being said...do you think this is doable in cotton? I think regular acrylic or wool would be dust/dog hair catchers, and cotton might be a better option for a growing family. Thanks for sharing your talent.

    • @BonnieBayCrochet
      @BonnieBayCrochet  Год назад

      That could work! It will be much heavier in your washer machine when washing.

      @@BonnieBayCrochet Well... I was thinking since it will be cotton, they could take it out on the back deck and hose it down with a little detergent if needed...and leave it out there to dry. Of course, the big thing with cotton is always the chance for bleeding of the dye...so, pre-setting each skein for sure.

    How do you complete the third row? Does it end with the three double crochet? Or the last strand of the braid?

    • @BonnieBayCrochet
      @BonnieBayCrochet  10 месяцев назад

      Here are the instructions for Row 3: Ch 3, dc in first st, (work Row 1 of Braided Cable over next 6 sts, work 3 dc in between the last st and next st) across, dc in last dc, do not work in the turning ch, turn. (97 sts, 11 braids begun)

  • @elizabethalexander-pukerud7951

    Hi Bonnie! I need help please. The back or round four I don't understand the braided. I need close ups. I slowed down the video. But nope I dont get it. Cables I've done many times. This braided I'm even confused where and how to place the stitches. is there any video that goes into depth about the braids-- where to place your hook, etc. HELP! Please. Two days ago I gave up. I spent a lot of time but I'm feeling totally stupid! No, I'm not a beginner. But.....as you can tell I'm not truly ready to give up...close!

      Yes! Lol please remember I did have a stroke! Lol hey I did but was very lucky. Confusion and over hyped seems to be my biggest thing to overcome. I have learned like with this skirt to back off for awhile! But I do feel stupid now. I have to think on things now much longer....irritating for a person like me! Those hidden stitches were throwing me. Oh I saw them but didn't know if they came before or after the cross overs. Your videos demonstrates that. Plus my wee brain kicked in...finally. Look at the stitches from row three to see where they place! Thank you...beautiful pattern. Now I have to get beyond all this yarn on my hook! Lol fingering weight is my favorite! Use to be lace and thread. My vision changed that. Thanks again!

      I could have almost written your comment myself. Wait till you get to row 19. I’m so excited that I figured it out. I challenged myself to try BEFORE watching the video. I almost gave up, but too stubborn. So excited, using my lighted magnifier to see print pattern (from Etsy) and where to insert the hook!!! 🤣🤣🤣
