Additional Information about the increases for Row 7 onwards - As there was no increase in Row 6, there is no change to the number of stitches worked in Row 7. The increase is worked in the ch-2 sp in the increase rows. You can find written examples of Row 7-9 here: www.cosyrosieuk.co.uk/crochet-christmas-tree-skirt-pattern
I love the ripple stitch ! Thank you this will be my next project !
This is such a good pattern! I love how quickly it worked up. I will def be using this pattern for any Tree Skirts I crochet.
Fab - love that you're thinking ahead for the Holiday's already!
Thank you for the pattern. And the additional help. Much appreciated 😊
This looks so neat. I hope I can make 1. Thank you for sharing it
You’re welcome 😊 I know you can it it
@@CosyRosieCrochet Thank you
Thank you for your tutorial. I’m fairly experienced at this type stitch but I’ve had to re-do several times and try to see what your work is like. If I may suggest, the next time, please pause a few times for a look at the whole piece. Probably the first 5-6 rows would be helpful. Thank you!
Edited to add: also, pause at end and beginning of row to show increases.
Thank you for the feedback - I've had a quick flick through the video and Rounds 2-6 are all shown laid flat at the end of the row. Could you expand on what you'd like more detail on so I can include it in my other tutorials?
Thank you for your prompt reply. I think a longer pause, close up. I’ve made dozens of star blankets and chevrons but your pattern is just vexing me 😮. Maybe it’s just me. I am on my 4th try and my stitches are still off. So, I’m gonna give it a rest. I do thank you for your tutorial and your response. Cheers!
@@severineg8702 it’s horrid when that happens. Working this in a split circle is the challenge. If it helps, there is a photo on the website that’s nice and clear - www.cosyrosieuk.co.uk/crochet-christmas-tree-skirt-pattern
Yes, it’s annoying. I’ll take a look at the website. Thanks again!
I made this and it turned out beautifully! I did have some trouble when I switched to the written pattern, because it says there that each row should increase by 24 stitches, but after much counting and then subtracting your provided stitch counts from one another, I concluded that the increase should actually be 22 stitches each time. I did add buttons instead of ties. Thanks for the tutorial and pattern!
I love the button addition!
There is an increase at each end too that take the row increase to 24, but on each peak would make 22.
I’ve been searching for a skirt pattern for a while and I think this is it! I can’t imagine the work that went into figuring the increases to make this work. I’m making a Christmas blanket now in forest green, cranberry, and linen and think a skirt in the green and cranberry would be so pretty. I have in mind to make one of the colors double the width of the other. Is there any reason this wouldn’t work? This is so pretty!
I love the colors you said your doing your blanket. I am also (what I call Victorian, colors) The darker green, darker red, and the off white.
That blanket sounds gorgeous! You can work the rows in different colours, in any order you want! Working one colour in 4 rows and the other in 2 rows would be lovely to match your blanket.
Beautiful. Question.... The hole part at beginning, what diameter is it? Should we not make that a little larger to go around a tree trunk if you have a live tree? Have you done any measurements for that part regarding the trunks or tree stands. It could just be me, but, it looks small on camara.
The opening is larger than it appears on screen and was based on a standard real tree stump of 4-6 inches
@@CosyRosieCrochet thank you
Is every third row a NO increase row? 4 & 5 you increase, but 6 you don’t? So rows 9, 12, 15 , 18 are no increase rows? Thx
That’s correct
Beautiful tree skirt! Question- for rows 3 and 4 you said to skip 1 DC for the beginning and ending trough. But for the other rows you said to skip 2 DC for the beginning and ending trough. Should we be skipping 2 DC for the beginning and ending troughs for every row after row 4? Thank you!
The repeated rows are 4-6 so you skip one only in the repeat of row 4
Sorry to bother you again but I’m still confused. In your written instructions for the repeat example, row 7 (which if I’m reading correctly will be row 4 of the repeat rows) said to skip 2 DC for the beginning and ending trough. So, should I skip only 1 for row 7, 10, 13, 16, 19 and so on. Thank you! Happy New Year!
Does the number of stitches skipped for the trough stay at 2 the entire pattern?
It does 😊
How do you know how many stitches to put in the troughs for the pattern beyond row 6.? The written pattern doesn’t give a rule to follow for it.
You don’t work into the stitches in the trough, 2 sts are skipped each time.
How do we know how many stitches to use when repeating rows 4-6? I’m confused by your explanation. For example how would row 7 read compared to old row 4? I know what you’re getting at, but my brain has fried and nothing registers.😊
The number of stitches stitches worked between the peaks and toughs increase by 1 after each increase row - hope that helps 😀
Hi Fiona, thank you for this beautiful pattern. I have been able to follow the written pattern/ video but I am stuck at row 6. I can't seem to figure out the increase by 1 thereafter. I'd love to complete this project. Can you provide further insight into how to complete row 7? Thanks
Hi@@renaebrown7463 I've sent a reply to your Etsy Message and will update the website and pin a post to explain further as soon as I've home :)
@@renaebrown7463I’m confused as well does the skip in between troughs go to 3 instead of two? Does it stay at two always?
This SO confusing. The link for the written pattern does not pop up. I have spent so much time trying to figure this out then started over again. This pattern is absolutely confusing. You should’ve written out the whole pattern for us in your tutorial.
I'm going on row 10 and row 4 doesn't match up with row 9, what am I doing wrong?
You're not doing anything wrong - the number of stitches has increased between the peaks and troughs as you worked the additional increase rows; the number of stitches between peaks and troughs will increase by 1 after each increase row.
For Row 10, you will have the same count as Row 9 (5 between each peak and tough) but in the peak you will work the increase (2dc, ch 2, 2dc) which will add additional stitches for Row 11.
Row 5??? Your tutorial does not match the written pattern for row 5!!! Or something. I think the asterisk is in the wrong place…. I wasted so much time trying to figure out why my stitch count not matching up. The written pattern does not show skipping 2 stitches throughout the row. I like to print out my pattern so I can refer to it rather than having to play a video. Shouldn’t the asterisk include the skip 2 for the repeat? A nightmare but I might have solved my problem. Thanks for the video. Much appreciated. I see the same situation in Row 6.
Hi Thank you so much for making me aware of the error in the written pattern - I've corrected the placement and republished the web version.
Why is here so long? Mine is not that long even though I did 25 chains
I'm not sure which point you're at - the beginning chain should measure 6-7 inches when made with a 5mm hook. If you're finding your chain smaller or too tight to work into, you could try making your chain with a larger hook, before chaining back to a smaller hook for the pattern.
Can I get the pattern without the tutorial??
