Komatsu Continuous Miner | West Coast | New Zealand | 4K

This Komatsu Joy CMS continuous miner, and shuttle car were once used underground at the Spring Creek Coal Mine, and are on display at the Rapahoe Domain (labelled just as Recreation Reserve on Google maps) on the West Coast of New Zealand. The domain also has other underground coal mining equipment that would have been left in the abandoned Spring Creek Mine and flooded, including the main ventilation fan from the mine.
This machinery apparently would not have met code in Australia, and would have been abandoned in the mine, that has since been plugged and is now being flooded.

Its a cool little area they set up well worth a look around. It was lucky it got saved from being buried with all the rest of the stuff that got buried when the mine closed.
