I'm not from Texas I'm from California and I agree with you. California is experiencing a housing crisis and California is a sanctuary state. Those who enter the border illegally are illegal, therefore have no rights under the constitution. Those seeking asylum have no rights until they are given asylum. They have to present their case in court first, until the host country decides whether to give them asylum or not. Only if they are given asylum do they acquire any rights.

So our rolling monthly bill is $40,000,000,000, that’s 40 BILLION per MONTH.

Nah. Basic NYC construction costs. 8 people to watch, 1 person to do the work, 4 days of work.
Installing requires going to the office to get records to see if there are any wires or pipes. Then you have to dig up the cement sidewalk.
The other direction requires filling in the hole, then filling in the conrete then disposing of the tree and dirt.
1- Call it a crisis
2- Declare state of emergency
3- Hire/contract "consultants" and services from friends without it having to be approved
4- Take a kickback from these "emergency contracts"
5- Retire.

Where I live there is a nurse line available 24/7 for health advice. The problem is that for most peoblems they just tell you to go to the hospital since they don't want to be liable for telling you you're okay if it turns out you're not. It only goes so far.

I am a social worker and cant find services, shelters or rehabs for people with disabilities, veterans, seniors because they are all taken and filled with asylum seekers. I feel for them but help shouldn't come at the expense of others.

Asylum seekers is a very loose term.. You can’t pass through multiple countries to seek Asylum.. Catching a flight to South America, traveling through Central America, then crossing illegally through Mexico and America paying 10’s of thousands to do so isn’t seeking Asylum..

New York City should instead refocus their efforts on strengthening the middleclass, Reforming the MTA, and work to better the education system. I think that the "Right to Shelter" should only apply to American citizens and only people that either have a job in NYC or they are in the process of getting a degree to then get a job.

I agree with much of what you say, but there are a lot of degree programs which will never lead to a job. Many of the programs are very worthwhile, but not income producing. I would have loved to have studied ballet, but let's be real, it rarely pays for a roof over your head.
As long as Democrats are in charge of NYC, logical steps like you are proposing will never happen.
They are getting overwhelmed now by illegals, that they begged for, but refuse to do the one thing that will stop the flow, because their own hubris will not allow them to do it. They would prefer to throw their own children's future under the bus.
All they have to do is revoke the Sanctuary City status, and the buses, boats, planes and trains would be directed elsewhere. Ok, that isn't completely true. Biden would no doubt keep flying his illegals in overnight.

My dinky little town spent millions getting federal matching funds to beautify downtown. They ripped out entire sidewalks just to put in wheelchair ramps (instead of just replacing where the ramps went) and then installed ornamental streetlamps right in the middle of the sidewalks. But the sidewalks aren't wide enough for both a streetlamp and a wheelchair so if you're in a wheelchair you have to leave the sidewalk to get around the light poles. There is no limit to the stupidity of a government commission with a bag of someone else's cash.
Trees may just be the contractor's issue. And city made a good job at making him correct his mistakes fast enough at his expenses......

I have Multiple Sklerosis…and I always have a Walker with a Seat. I learned that I needed to bring my own seat when I go to Walmart. I suggest introducing Bring your own seat designs for Homeless. Kinda like bring your own Beer Party’s. I doubt you can lay down. But a good seat is helpful.
My mom is disabled and can barely pay her bills after landlords started raising rent all over the country so obviously this is extremely frustrating. Well, New York is still an economically desirable city that upwardly mobile and well to do people want to live and work in. Not everybody sees the city as a dump. There are a lot of lovers of NYC who don't want to live anywhere else and care about what happens to it. Plus a lot of tourists who still want to visit it. I'm a former New Yorker born and raised, but moved away as I could no longer afford to live there. My point is, don't assume that everybody considers NYC to be on its last gasp, the city has been in trouble before (like the 70s), so this isn't the first time.

And since I didn't want to live with roommates, that sealed might decision to go live and work elsewhere as a single person. I don't regret it, I like where I live now. I'm in NY and although I do know some people have always argued opening the borders, usually those who have some sort of affinity due to their heritage, I have always been against illegal immigration. Believe it or not a lot of NY'ers aren't for illegal immigration. And anyone who thinks voting for a certain party decides that is oversimplifying it. People are making money off this, money I'm sure that goes into the pockets of politicians and companies. As much as Republicans like to say it's the Democrats fault for voting for it, that's just stupid, Republicans can still stop this if they are so against this. Our government here in Texas may be stuck in 1955, but I can't fault them for their response to this. Even Hispanics here are appreciative of what they've been doing and are trying to do. This is the problem with thinking the government is the answer to problems.
True in many ways, though I would add in a big city environment, where people are literally stacked on top of each other dozens of stories high, a bigger local government is probably needed. My issue is that the one job the federal government has, it just doesn't seem to want to do, and a large, maybe even majority of voters seem to want to keep the federal government from doing that job.
I have a joke about governments and trees I heard years ago that is PERFECT. One day a trucker was at a busy truck stop eating his lunch beside a highway. He noticed that two state employees, down the road were working+ One was digging a Hole next to the highway and the second guy followed him and immediately filled in the Hole like it was never there and this went on and on. After about two hours of watching this, the Trucker became very Curious and decided to go over and ask the State Highway workers, what they were doing. He had never seen anything like this. So he goes over to the lead guy and says-"What are you doing", the lead guys says, Oh, we are planting trees to beautify the highway. Then where are the trees the truck asked,? Oh the lead guy explains, We have a three man crew who always does this. I dig the Hole , the Second guy Plants the Trees , and the Third guy fills it in. Unfortunately, the 2nd guy , the Tree planter , is SICK TODAY....!!! This video reminds me of that Joke. Respects
