      It's not that old LOL Runs on pressurized gas. To me that's new-school tech. My Coleman 2-burner runs on white gas. I have to pump it. 30 years old and still runs awesome.

      @@davidlaforce1855 Yep, same. I still like this old stove. Just used it a week ago in Anza Borrego. Had to replace a few parts over the years, but Coleman is/was pretty good about stocking and selling parts for the older stoves.
      I also keep an MSR WhisperLite gas stove as a backup, and to use if I'm travelling light or just on a quick one-nighter out in the desert. Runs on the same fuel.

    Old Dale makes a fun one day turn around if you're in So Cal, and great things to check out along the way. Not hard, but take your time. My brother in law did it in his lifted Subaru Outback.

    Nice. Many years ago a friend and I in our Scouts visited JT and ultimately exited it via Berdoo Canyon. We weren't even sure that's what it was. This was over 25 years ago. No GPS! Just a paper map. We simply followed a busy set of tire tracks that headed out of JT in a SW direction. We're pretty good with our sense of direction and orienteering skills.

    Great video!! That third obstacle that is not optional, wide enough for a sprinter van 170 4x4?

    • @palehorseadventures
      @palehorseadventures  Год назад +1

      Thank you, and great question. I did a little research, and while there's not much content that shows sprinters going through Berdoo, it does appear that it is POSSIBLE. However, it appears that it is not recommended, as that one section would be a very tight squeeze. Some potential for body damage. So, I'd say it depends on your risk threshold and your experience with similar obstacles.

    • @kodiaksride
      @kodiaksride Год назад

      @@palehorseadventures From your video it definitely looked like it would be a very tight squeeze. Based on what I saw, it might be best to go through from the other entrance. Thanks for the response!

    Nice vid. Do you think 9 inches of clearance would be enough on those obstacles?

    • @palehorseadventures
      @palehorseadventures  6 месяцев назад

      Thanks! I've seen videos of stock crossovers and SUVs doing Berdoo Canyon, though some struggled on some of the obstacles a bit. You'll most likely scrape on the first obstacle in Berdoo Canyon, so you may want to skip that one (it's optional!), unless you have skid plates or are with some other vehicles. You'll probably be ok on the mandatory obstacle unless you're in a particularly wide vehicle. It gets pretty narrow. Old Dale Road could be a problem though. That trail was in pretty rough shape when we went, and there were some large rocks on the hill climb. I've seen videos of a subaru getting high centered and stuck on Old Dale. Though I've heard plenty of people getting through fine. Go at your own risk and bring a buddy. Note that I have not done either of these trails since Hurricane Hilary in the summer of last year, so trail conditions are liable to have changed.
