@@EzPeasZ Sadly I'm having some issues with my own at present, I've been unable to fix things for others for a while, Multiple Sclerosis, Aspergers syndrome, ADHD, and several other illnesses, losses in the family and monthly trips to oncology. Have had to look inward for a while.
@@TheAussieRepairGuy oh, my dear friend and stranger, I'm sorry to hear you're dealing with those things and truly hope your able to find yourself some peace through what I know must be some very difficult things to work through. For what it's worth, I personally see things such as Asperger's and ADHD (usually stigmatized) a form of thinking, and nothing more or less... but I also know how hard it can be to deal w those things and/or to feel different. You clearly are an intelligent person, and I hope you know that, even if it shows itself in an atypical manner! Appreciate you sharing w us (videos and your comment) and I wish you the best!!
@@TheAussieRepairGuy p.s. I have a handful of friends that are autistic and or have ADHD (some of my better friends! I may have some of it myself). Whenever they mention something about "being on the spectrum" my reaction is "I think we're all somewhere on some spectrum - most people just aren't aware of it" 🤣 and i believe that 100%. Besides, what makes us different is what makes us special! It's not an artifact, it's a feature 😎
So we have to watch part 3 first, to see how you removed the face plate? Also, (did I miss something) you didn’t show the sequence on how you removed the broken vertical cam gear? Still find this video very informative. Thank you
There are some bits I didn't cover so clearly in those areas. the faceplate, I ended up sliding two spudger tools under it to pop off the stitch pattern knob, and there are small spring clips on the inside. As this is an older video, I'll have to go back and look at them. this is a link to the playlist of all 3 parts: ruclips.net/p/PLXvLC1_XYdhoGKTYVCN_V9Bq-MdePfzOo
Hello from Canada! I just bought a Singer 478 from a secondhand store. It seems to be missing the little post for the thread (on top). Any suggestions as to what I can do? Thank you so much!
Piano wire might come in the correct diameter, and can be cut to size, otherwise have a look around a toy/craft store, sometimes you will find decorative items with acrylic rod of the right size
I went over my archives, apparently I never filmed the removal, but it's shown in part 3 at 2:27. I slid a couple of spudgers under it from opposite sides and twisted. its a friction fit with a spring plate: ruclips.net/video/Yua67TeLUCE/видео.html
You once said "If it beeps I can fix it".
That doesn't "beep" Dave.
You truly are a bloody genius.
Yeah I didn't make any comment on stuff that doesn't beep
Beep beep... now come fix my life 😅

Also, mine has a full set of fashion cams too!
I got a loan of a set, and managed to 3d scan them.

Also my amphibious 8x8 argo is canadian made, as is my landlord. Consider me a fan of Canada.
How did you remove stitch length knob?

Got it. Old fragile plastic. Detent is easier to get at with reverse knob removed when installing stitch length
I didn't know those two parts separated...
