  • 8/12 I was up at 5:45 am and hiking by 6:45am. Bearhug was just starting his coffee and was ok with me getting an early start. Typically, he easily catches up to me. Today, that didn't happen. I felt good climbing up Pinchot Pass 12,127". My energy levels were good too. I only took 15 minuye breaks at Lake Marjorie, the top of Pinchot Pass, to get water twice, and to apply sunscreen. After Pinchot Pass, I took some ibuprophen and descended 3600' in 7 miles. It was a long steep slog down with many beautiful views and lakes. The wind picked up and caused a head wind for some of the day. I enjoyed hiking next to Woods Creek and seeing the waterslide. I arrived at Woods Creek Suspension Bridge and campground about 4pm. I cooked, ate, and then rested while waited for Bearhug. He arrived about 6pm and was ready to camp. So we stayed here. There were a lot of other hikers staying here too. Tomorrow we have a long climb in the morning.
