My work is on Metal Matrix Composites (MMC). MMCs exist since long. 'What's new?' One would ask.
The process to add ceramic to the metal matrix is different. This is where Polymer Derived Ceramics (PDCs) come in play. PDCs too were known long before.
The interesting part is to use them both in combination.
And SPD? It's severe plastic deformation! Never heard of it? But, this processing technique will be used to mix the ceramic in the metal.
Material Science! Too interesting to not explore this field.
