I appreciate Mikey’s talent and skill, but think it would be nice if he challenged himself to try to take his opponent down instead of sitting from the start. I know that it’s conducive to his style, but he could still get to that position without butt-scooting.
He’s not a wrestler though
Someone doesn't have to be a wrestler to take their opponent down.
A foot sweep is used in several different disciplines.
And he did say in the interview that he's been training wrestling, so he could certainly try to incorporate some of it into his game if he wanted.

He’s killing the sport dead my guy, been grappling for over a decade with 10th planet and we talk about this guy all the time. Follow Nicky Rod, Craige Jones etc. who focus on judo/ wrestling takedowns to land submissions. The whole point of BJJ is to be able to stop an opponent of any size. You quite literally can’t do that if you butt scoot because you’ll get booted in the face. Even Renzo Gracie made a comment about butt scooters (in context you can tell he’s talking about Mikey) and how they will destroy the sport. The most important aspect of making BJJ popular is not making it clean it’s making it more exciting

He even said he knows two wrongs don't make a right, but he isn't living by that, just paying lip service. I do like this interview with Mickey Mikey and it is reflection on me at the same time because what he says about himself. Most of us are have a rough ringing up and bullied at some point at another majority of us are all bullied in some shape or form, mentally or physically. And I believe the same thing when he decided when people walk around with their demeanor their actions they're act. Tough, the people that are not walking around like that, like Mickey or Mikey. Sorry, one of the other is basically. Mickey is a tough bad boy but also in disguise. He doesn't have to look or act like that underneath. Because the people that are most dangerous are the people that are like Mickey. They are under disguise and don't have to prove themselves anyone but again. Patient to be have to post anything and stop posting things. And just you know, Be more mature and stop posting things and go online. That's how problems create. Posting things online and chatting and emailing and stuff like that just grapple. And go out for your daily life. That's why I'm one of my pet pieces. All this chat in online great problems, but I do like Mickey.

I do like Mikey, but at the same time he shouldn't be on social media posting anything just fight and stop acting like little kids? Healthy people are adults. And yes, if you want to grapple, say fight me and find me. You don't you don't the problem is? Websites in social media are creating problems to a point because everybody has a beef to at some point but I do like Mikey. Ou know, he seems genuine respectful. But at the same time, there are people out there that are more fighting with words. And your physical ability. But why can't you just fight? And just not Google or tweet or anything else. Just fight if you want to call something out, call him out. Doing on national TV or whatever. Just do it once. There's no reason to poke and if Mike is so genuine. He shouldn't be on social media because maybe it's a different error but I'm at a age where I'm like not a big thing of that. you know its hilarious when that kid kade ruotolo said he and mikey were "natural" just because you're scrawny doesnt mean they're not on PEDs. Kade routolo beat mica galvao (who is a known PED user) you look at his matches, he never gets tired...like ever. Him and his brother go against heavier opponents all the time like craig jones, felipe pena, etc etc who are all on gear btw and they match them with strength, intensity and never get tired all while being much lighter. People who are natural reach plateaus, cardio wise and strength wise, it is very obvious the routolo twins are on PEDs, they will never compete in an olympic style sport so they'll never get caught but they are 100% liars. Mikey has dabbled in PEDs too maybe to recover but he's definitely not a lifetime natty. You dont become world class and the best in the world in bjj being a life time natty. The sport of bjj is too unregulated and full of kids who are on gear. All the greats like marcelo garcia, roger gracie etc all were on PEDs too

To expand a bit on why I don’t like him for BJJ. The whole point of sport is to stop the ability of high level strikers no matter the weight class, this dudes style just wins bjj matches but doesn’t actually progress BJJ within actual combat. Not to mention it’s insanely boring to watch even for ppl like me who have been doing this for over a decade. Stop butt scooters at all cost!!!!
The worst is the memes you see online of some random big bodybuilder and Musumeci - "casuals wont believe the guy on the right would...blah blah blah" He isnt a fighter, he does sport BJJ. He cant shoot takedowns and if he had a larger guy in his guard throwing punches 99% of his technique is out the window.

We need matches/styles that actually generate interest in grappling from ppl who don’t grapple. we almost had it with Gordon but his body is too f-ed for him to be active. You can like his style all you want but you know the vast majority of combat sports fans are going to laugh at this style because it doesn’t work anywhere else. It’s already happening: Gracie, Rampage Jackson, Gilbert Burns, Money Moicono and even Mighty Mouse have all made comments similar or worse to the above.
