I've followed them for over 2 years, and seen how they've progressed since they started in 2019. From doing Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Metallica... to when they started to do their own stuff. Hypnosis, Dissension and Revivr are all very good. You find them on their YT Page. sidenote: they are playing at Aftershock in October, so wouldn't be surprised they are doing a mini tour in the US.
Other stuff? Not sure what you've heard of Band-maid... but Gacharic Spin - "I wish I" and Lovebites - "set the world on fire" are mind blowing 🤯

I'm into this band since 2 weeks ago. If you prefer a much hardcore metal sound, I suggest you to listen to MV of Revive and/or Dissension. If you prefer a ballad song from this band, try to listen to Life (it is a welcoming performance to the drummer who just gave birth and the performance in general is more about the appreciation of the band members to each other... prepare some tissue paper to wipe your tears). If you want a unique sound from this Nemophila band, you may listen to Hypnosis. I can foresee that this band can go further internationally in the near future.

Yes, Japan has done it again. What Band-Maid is for the rockier side, Nemophila is for the heavier. And just like B-M they do it with a lot of fun and passion, which I think is especially evident in their studio videos or live performances. I just say "OIRAN" live at "NAONのYAON2021" or the same song in it's "RUclips Ver.". What you will see is a lot of smiles and flying hair. 🤭 And Mayu, of course, gives her all on the microphone again with her outstanding voice.
But believe me, just as Band-Maid proved over the last year that they can shift up a few gears if they want to, these ladies here can also do just the opposite and deliver songs with a lot of heart and feeling. Or to put it another way, with Band-Maid and Nemophila, I think Rock & Metal are in the best hands available at the moment.

Yes that is her voice... interesting isn't it? But in music video her voice is slightly enhance and her real voice actually is more impressive without any enhancement. Try watch their live performance with the song OIRAN at NAONのYAON 2021. The name is mayu (yes the spelling style of her name is all small letters) and the band NEMOPHILA gathered by her with the bassist Haraguchi-san.
There is not many information on mayu that made known publicly (compared to the others) and that makes her somewhat myterious figure among the band members but she is the one who made it happen. She is the co-founder of Mayu Session band alongside her high school friend, bassist Haraguchi-san. Mayu Session band is the origin of NEMOPHILA. For her historical carrier, let's start with her previous band LIPSTICK.
LIPSTICK formed in 2012 when their members are still in high school, as a metal band based in Tokyo. Guitarist Sally and bassist Sakae now are the only original members still active with the band. IIRC now both of them are backed by support musicians - singer MAIKO of My Complex Of Academy fame, and drummer Mii-chan. Their 'biggest' appearance was when they took part in METAL MATSURI, London, which by the time they already released 7 singles and 7 albums.
Sindy officially joined LIPSTICK in January 2017. "Sindy" is the stage name of mayu in the LIPSTICK era. On April 6, 2019, the 3-man live "Spring Man Diva Festival !!" hosted by VELVET ★ CHERRY at "THE LIVE STATION" became Sindy's graduation live. She said "I'm graduating from LIPSTICK for medical treatment. Certainly, if I sing with that husky voice in a loud voice that is as good as the roar of the back, I'll break my throat." I don't know what treatment she had but she did mentioned she met a specialist and finally understood her vocals and screams works.
On July 2019, about 3 months after leaving LIPSTICK, mayu announced that Mayu Session band will perform live in "SUMMER GAME" at "Shinjuku Wild Side Tokyo" on August 22nd and the support members were announced as well.
How was this support member decided? Mayu was invited by her acquaintance to do something, a session band and when asked "Who do you want to do with?", without hesitation she said she wanted SAKI (again, specific styling - all capital letters) and Murata Tamu. However, both of them are famous musicians and there are many girl musicians who want to have a session together with them. Mayu said that's OK but first brings in Haraguchi-san, her friend from vocational school days. Both of them work together and managed to secure the drums goddess Murata Tamu since Tamu actively promoting herself for a session - obviously because she is one of the top famous session drummer in Japan.
However, mayu and Haraguchi-san can't get hold of metal guitar goddess and rifflord SAKI since she is a very busy lady. Her acquaintance, whom I mentioned previously that asked mayu to do a session band, knows SAKI very well (they both founded and organized Guitar Girls Collection project) stepped in and managed to get them connected. The 4 of them (mayu, Haraguchi-san, Tamu and SAKI) got together and then SAKI thought it would be more interesting to have another guitarist. Mayu said she could play guitar but not very good at it. Well, we didn't know how 'not very good' mayu is on guitar actually but mayu also said she play piano and keyboards 'a bit' but NEMOPHILA fans probably know how good she is on piano (from her personal appreciation performance) and keyboard (from NEMOPHILA's ANOTHER STORY). So mayu and SAKI contacted Hazuki and told her that they wanted her to do it. Hazuki who hadn't been stage for about a year or so accepted the offer with excitement. All 5 of them get together for Mayu Session and later decided to stay together as NEMOPHILA.
Mayu really thankful to have them and during NEMOPHILA live show at the legendary hall Line Cube Shibuya in January 2022, she expressed her true feelings - saying "thank for becoming a member of this band" to the rest of the band members just before performing a song LIFE for the encore. During LIFE performance, the band members were in tears upon realizing how important NEMOPHILA is to mayu, who eventually cried hard but the rest of the band members kept their composure supporting mayu till the end of the performance. Their bond is as strong as family and the drummer Tamu (the most experienced member of the band) considered a 'mother' of NEMOPHILA.
Mayu never did whistle tone fry screaming vocals before NEMOPHILA. She said the screaming is easier for her compared to clean vocals, however, switching between those two styles is the hardest part and she is working hard every day to polish her vocals. Now she seems very comfortable to play around with multiple vocal style and will only getting better with support from the optimistic and experienced reputable musicians around her.
On how the name NEMOPHILA decided, this was from her interview.
Interviewer: Does the name of your band have any special meaning, and how/why did you choose the name NEMOPHILA?
mayu: We all got together at the beginning and the word “SORAI” came to mind for me. The word “SORAI” was refreshing, but the meaning was difficult, so we tried to soften it and thought of the name of a flower instead.
Interviewer: So NEMOPHILA is a flower?
mayu: Yes, a flower. Because we are all girls, I wanted to use a name for a flower. I searched for a soft name from a lot of flowers, and we found NEMOPHILA.
Yep that is Mayuphila's unfiltered fry scream/vocals. Nemophila is the next rising All-female band from Japan.

Good reaction video. Maybe you're looking for something new for you in music. I've been a metalhead for 30 years. I was born a metalhead. Nemophila is one of the best all-female metal band in Japan. Singer Mayu is one of the best singers in Japan. She sings 2 singing styles - fry screams and pure vocals. She has a fantastic voice. You may like songs with Mayu's pure voice like Life and Game Over. You may like dance songs like Night Flight, Monsters or Hypnosis. This band is one of my the most favorite metal bands. I love all songs of this band. I love Mayu´s fry screams and pure vocals. My heartfelt greetings :-)

For the pronunciation, the name of the band is pronounced "neh-mo-FEE-la." However, if you look it up on Google, it will tell you it is pronounced "neh-MOFF-i-la," which is how the flower they are named after is pronounced. In Japanese, most words and syllables end with a vowel sound (except for some words that end with "n"). As such, it is awkward for native Japanese speakers to speak syllables that end in a consonant, so they did their own version of the word so that the stressed syllable ends with an "e" sound instead of an "f" sound.
No syllable stress accents in Japanese. There are pitch accents and meter (as in timing) accents.
Very close. The band pronounces the name as if it is written in romaji, Japanese written with Roman letters. Neh - moh - fee - lah.

If you like Nemophia then I think you'll also like Band-Maid, another all female Japanese hard rock band. I would suggest their live version of either Freedom or Domination to watch first.
I would also recommend another Japanese band Scandal though they are more on the rock/pop punk side. Masterpiece would be the song I would recommend for them.
Then there's also yet another all female Japanese rock band called Gacharic Spin and I would recommend their recent song Mindset to listen to.
