Sean was never attached to that belt, and I think he knew how much it meant to Dricus, so he had no problem accepting the loss and handing it over to him. This fight was razor close and it could have gone any way, Dricus just happened to clutch it. Hats off to both of these guys for being badass fighters and true champions.

As a South African, overjoyed for Dricus. However, I have to say that Sean edged it for me. It was definitely 2-2 going into round 5 but Sean had the cleaner hits in that round. It did feel like the votes were a bit rigged, especially considering home (ish) ground advantage. That being said, it was a great fight. Wow! To call any winner might have even been unfair. I think full credit to Dricus to come back the way he did. After those first 2 rounds, a lot of fighters would have spiraled down. One of the few fights that you ever see actually live up to the pre match hype. Hats off to both men.

I hate that takedowns won the fight for DDP. Sean got right back up and no damage was done in the position. I know how this shit is scored but its still a fight. Damage/Offense should be what matters most. 1,2,5 Strickland
Takedowns did help, but didnt win the fight. DDP hitting wayyyy more power punches and kicks won him the fight, he simply did more damage to Sean and that was very obvious.
Round 2 to DDP. Sean didn't add much to DDP's face from the state it was in at the end of round 1. DDP added a cut near Sean's right eye during round 2

Razor close fight, I personally had it for Sean with him winning rounds 1 2 and 5 and I also could've seen that ending in a draw as well, I just really don't think dricus won that but it's absolutely not a robbery it was a super close fight where the case could be made for either guy

Sean absolutely won, outstruck 4 of 5 rounds and they each landed big shots. Ppl say ddp won round 5? 53-35 that round. 80 more head shots, 40 more sig strikes. Sean checked what 85% of his leg kicks? 6 takedowns not 1 single ground strike landed.
I don't think it was that close. Sean landed much more punches to the head and clean punches. Dricus cut Sean with a grazing shot, and with an elbow but very few of his punches landed clean. Sean took very little damage in this fight, while Dricus absorbed a lot of damage. I don't think a takedown should steal the round if the other guy is winning and doing much more damage

As a South African, overjoyed for Dricus. However, I have to say that Sean edged it for me. It was definitely 2-2 going into round 5 but Sean had the cleaner hits in that round. It did feel like the votes were a bit rigged, especially considering home (ish) ground advantage.
That being said, it was a great fight. Wow! To call any winner might have even been unfair. I think full credit to Dricus to come back the way he did. After those first 2 rounds, a lot of fighters would have spiraled down.
One of the few fights that you ever see actually live up to the pre match hype. Hats off to both men.
