Any discussion of a nation’s reputation in warfare will almost inevitably lead to derogatory remarks directed towards the French. Their military exploits are the punchline of countless jokes, memes, and other derogatory remarks, lampooning them as cowards or inept on the battlefield.
The reality, however, is much different. Throughout its long history, the nation of France has an extensive and distinguished record of military triumphs, dating back as far as the early Middle Ages. For millennia, French soldiers fought and died with courage, skill, and distinction.

Then, when the French government surrendered, he left his job as a radio operator and became a member of the French Resistance, where he was in charge of encrypting and decrypting radio messages. He was captured, tortured and executed with his friends. Much later my family learned that he had never surrendered and had never spoken even under torture. He probably didn't personally play a major role in the end of the war but that doesn't stop me from being extremely proud to be of his blood although I unfortunately never knew him.

Pershing continued to commit troops to these full-frontal attacks, resulting in high casualties without noticeable military success against experienced veteran German and Austrian-Hungarian units.' and in ww2 'One source often referred to is General Dwight D. Throughout France, the Free French had been of inestimable value in the campaign. They were particularly active in Brittany, but on every portion of the front we secured help from them in a multitude of ways. Yes Americans were adore in France, it's slowly getting down though... cause of stupid acts of US governments since the 90s and a little bit of french bashing. We are very old country and USA very young. The first americans were a mix of english, irish ,sccotish, french germans. There was french in Illinois and in all Louisiana, in the southern states (some slavers coming from Haïti).

If the tank was American, we could already have dozens of movie like Fury about this things.

    - During WWII some french pilots went to the Soviet Union and fought alongside the soviets against Germany, today there is still a french fighter squadron named after these guys, the "Normandie-Niemen" (in reference to the region of Normandie of course and and Niemen in Russia.)
    - There was also french soldiers who went into Norway to fight against Germany alongside their Norwegian brother in arms.
-The French Resistance held a crucial role in the success of the D-Day providing crucial information to the Allies about German positions, details about the topography of the land where the troops were supposed to land, sabotage operations against the German army, and many other things which helped the Allies.
    - In the Alps and in Southern France there was large pockets of resistance who fought against Germany and Italy.
-If the French army didn't wasted all these resources to build the Maginot Line and built tanks and aircraft instead, The German would have suffered even more casualties, because french Dewoitine D-520 was a far better aircraft than the Bf-109 (and it's still true today, the Rafale is far better than the Eurofighter Typhoon :D )

The Rafale on the other is way better than the Typhoon, I hugely agree to that. And it's not really ressources that was needed to have more tank and planes, it was time,a war occuring 6 months or 1 year later wouls not had the same results. And communists sabotages did not really helped either.
