This is the best ending, and I am shocked this movie doesn't get the recognition it deserves after 20 years. Very underrated.

Perfect second part reaction to this cave monster movie. Me I prefer the original ending over the other ending because the original ending wraps things up perfectly.

Definitely my preferred ending. I don't know who they choose for test audiences, and end up changing films that end on a perfect note.
Producer's note: from a creative point of view, I agree. From a business one, I do not. This ending leaves no space for a sequel. When all is said and done, a film is a commercial product and one of its purposes is to sell the audience on more movies.
@@RuntotheMovies That's the thing, though. The sequel they came up with was lackluster, at best. The story they wanted to tell has been told. If you remove the motivation of capital, the artist can just create, and if a sequel is necessary it's only because one work couldn't capture everything the artist wanted to convey to the audience. That has to be the most insidious aspect of capitalism, aside from the exploitation of artists as workers in the first place, in that creators are pressured to churn out more and more work that's devoid of creativity and merely feeds money into the pockets of those profiting from work that isn't even theirs.
@@RuntotheMovies It absolutely does leave room for a sequel, since there are countless creatures still alive. Just because you can't have a sequel with the original characters does not mean you can't have a sequel. It was the wrong choice both creatively _and_ from a business standpoint. In fact a sequel with new characters makes more sense.
I'm almost sure I saw this movie in the theater, I also bought it physically and I had never seen the alternative ending, this was always the ending for me.
@@LastRenegade It's kinda an open ending. You can choose what to believe, that she came out of the cave and imagines being inside or that she imagines leaving. In a way you can think that a lot of what happens in the movie is somehow tied to her hallucinations and the effects of being trapped down there they talk about before entering the cave. It's part of the beauty of the film, that you can interpret it in various ways. Because of this, you could technically have the sequel we had (I had never seen the alternate ending until yesterday and I saw the sequel), but your point is valid too. In fact in my opinion, a sequel was unnecessary.
This is the version in uk cinemas - am wondering if the changed it internationally as they had already started planning a sequel....
Here in germany this was also the only ending to the movie. I only knew about the changed ending when the movie was released on a Blue Ray years later, and they put the altered ending in there as well.

I see now . I like this ending because Juno knew the way out ..And Sarah "ending her ,kinda doomed everyone. Including herself. But whos to say whats true :D
