Our remodel got a bit hectic for the boys 👶🏼👶🏻 so we’ve moved into a rental house for a bit until the dust settles and banging subsides. Construction is running so behind! In the meantime I’ll be filming in the kitchen here and I’m excited to share some new recipes with you!
John I was going to say. I'm not feeling that kitchen. It doesn't fit you, and when you said it was rental I was like ahhh. I feel better now 🙂😂. Such an easy recipe. Looks delicious and I love the pecans added to it. I'm going to try this recipe. I hope your mother-in-law loved it! 🙂
My daughters are Autistic and find nighttime’s hard. When my eldest daughter (7) cant sleep we snuggle up and watch your videos, you are so smiley and a pleasure to watch and Bella says you help her to feel relaxed - a bit deal for her anxious little self. Today we made your baked apples after we watched the recipe last night, we had great fun, the kitchen smelled amazing and the apples were delicious. Thank you :) x
I'm autistic too and I am actually playing a game called Witcher 3 and I helped a lady get her frying pan off of a soldier in a locked cottage and found him with his throat garrotted and she gave me 5 baked apples as a reward and because it's close to Halloween and I live alone and I'm 26 so I'm starting to get attached to old school theme's for my insecurities kind of like your daughter's he made me feel relaxed and now I'm going to bake* (edit as I spelled bake as back lol) some with very strong cider to go with some punch this Halloween and invite some friends to join me and let's just say I love this recipe as its amazingly tasty 😜 take care! And happy Halloween 🎉🎃 LOL
Hey John, I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your channel. I'm 18, just graduated high school this spring, and I have NEVER EVER had any interest in baking . I can barely make scrambled eggs, but I stumbled across your channel and I decided to try it. You have such a positive, lovely, and just encouraging energy that made me keep watching. I made an apple pie using your recipe, and my god was I miserable, but the next day I just wanted to make another one, and now I sell pies (using your recipes) in my neighborhood and get a lot of requests. It helped me get out of my post-graduation depression , I felt so lost and stuck because everyone is studying medicine, and engineering, or law and I didn't have interest. But thanks to you, I fell in love with the art of baking, and now im thinking about getting an associates in business and taking some decoration classes and. opening up my own little bakery. I learned there's nothing wrong with not having one of those careers everyone wants you to have. Much love and positive vibes from Houston and Mexico.
Good luck with everything! I’m 21 and I’m still struggling with finding my path. It’s all a process. I want to open my own coffee shop some day so your dreams are definitely not impossible. Keep going and never compare your path to another person’s, just compare it to your past self and appreciate your progress over time. Much love!. 😊

Another great recipe ❤ 23 month sobriety journey I got into cooking helping care give for my mom. It turned into good therapy for sobriety- thanks to you and couple of the other channels I follow. You helped my sobriety journey- God bless you ❤
I love watching these videos, the way he talks is like hanging out with a friend while they bake 😂 This seems like a fun recipe even my clumsy self could make! Gonna try it out and hopefully have an easy dessert to make come Thanksgiving time 🙌
I have always considered myself a competent, imaginative home cook. Now, before I start in on most things I stop and check on "What would PreppyJohn do?" You've always got some wonderful little tip to make things more flavorful, efficient or attractive! 👏❤️Thank you!
I remeber seeing somthing like this from a woman who survived through the great depression and it was beautiful. Her mother would make it as a treat and apples and sugar and cinnamon were the easiest thing to find around Her channel is called " Great depression cooking"
hi John, I adore baked apples and make them every year. After cutting a 'cap' off the top of the apple (1/4" circle off top) then use a Grapefruit spoon, one of those spoons with teeth? to scoop out the apple guts, especially those seed pods that I hate finding after all the sweet buttery goodness has finished baking. Just something that might help!
Baked apples. Mmmm. Make the house smell so good. A staple from my childhood. Any particular type of apple you'd recommend? I love your enthusiasm when you describe your finished product! 🍎🍏🍎
I love this channel needs more viewers it reminds me so much of shows off the food channel. I love him I’m straight but I have a man crush on this man completely adorable
There’s no rules except what I say. Agreed! My version is: the world would be better if everyone did as I advised. 😊 My mom made baked apples when I was little. Yum
Only thing I would recommend, when you give the baking time, instead of saying it fast, because I couldn’t tell whether you said 15 minutes or 50 minutes, if it’s 15 minutes, say 15 one- five, if it’s 50 say 50 five oh. Sounds like a good recipe and one that I definitely grew up with that I want to try. I have made bread and I have tried making pies, you have to use the right apples of course, you do not want something that’s gonna be soft and loaded with juice because you’ll have the filling swimming and the pie crust shot. This stuff is easy to do, but the cleanup is not easy. I remember making pizzas and trying to get the perfect pizza, I stopped because The cleanup was so crazy
I have two coffee grinders: one for my morning coffee & the other is dedicated to spices like nutmeg. The taste difference between ground nutmeg in a jar vs freshly ground: no comparison!
You did it again! 🙌🏽 I’m convinced I’m making these! Bake apples reminds me of my childhood when my grandma would make them for me. The house smelled amazing! 😋 I agree apples and pumpkins... spices! That’s what fall is all about 🍂🍁
By the By John, as far as your mother in law Potentially Not liking your baked apples, I Couldn’t Imagine ANYONE Not Liking Anything that you make! Many Blessings to you and your family and Please Keep up the Great Work!!
I completely understand the horror that moving creates, dust and sooo much noise!! You get headaches really quick... I really wanted to do something with apples for Halloween in addition to a cake I plan on making and I've never tried baked apples before, but they look so easy and delicious I'll probably try them. Unfortunately I have an allergy to certain types of nuts, but maybe some chopped crunchy peanuts or almonds could work.🤔 I'd probably round it out with some nice vanilla sauce.😋 And speaking of baking, today I inaugurated the magic with some delicious mini cookies. They came out great for the first try.
1) preheat oven to 350 degrees roughly chop walnuts (optional) 2) brown sugar, nutmeg, and nuts ( if using) 3) scoop out the insides of the apple with a tablespoon - take out core and any trace of green 4) fill apples up with pecans until slightly overflowed 5) in a baking pot add water and filled apples and bake for 50 mins 6) base the apples with juice for more flavor 7) enjoy :)
Hi, John. Enjoying your apple recipes. When I make baked apples ... insert an very thin lemon skin/zest/twirl inside the apple. Then stuff it. Yes, nutmeg is wonderful. But! When baking with apples, never ever leave out the allspice. A few fresh-ground berries, I think, are better than nutmeg. And always use a splash of Jack Daniel whiskey.... Hope you and your family are having an incredible autumn. When is your mom due for a fall visit?
This would be really good with some minced apricots and dates in the filling, and maybe a pinch of mahlab in addition to the other spices. (My wife's family is ethnically Jewish, and we do a lot of Middle Eastern-influenced dishes.) Also, thank you for posting this. We JUST picked a half bushel of Jonathan's over the weekend--I'm eating one now--and these will be perfect to break our Yom Kippur fast tomorrow night. :9
Love your channel! These were my go to for breakfast when my children were young as an accountant to hot cereal and yogurt or eggs etc. on cold winter mornings. So simple, but absolutely delicious with a little sugar or brown sugar, cinnamon and butter.✌️
Oh my lord I just made these and they are so GOOD!!! I have a Halloween party to go to in a week and I know know what I’m bringing for dessert 🍎 thank you for the video and recipe 🙏😊❤️
I know this video is from 2019 but I had to look you up because I want to make baked apples today. I love your recipes and your videos. Very helpful. Can't wait to look at the apple pie one. Do you make a sauce for you baked apples. When I was younger my mother would make a hard sauce with butter and stuff. Thanks and have a great day.🙂
This was the first thing I made in school as part of my home economics class. Turned out ok but I’ve never like apples like this. Brought back a great memory.
if possible can you do a baking video of something easy and tasty to bake at university? i miss baking and sharing a kitchen gets a bit hectic and I don't know any quick easy baking recipes
Those look great, and I definitely need to review the apple playlist. While you're in this house, pay attention to the natural light. Halfway through, I noticed that you started during the day, made the apples at night, and finished in daylight.
I’ve got a question. Well two questions. Since I can’t scoop with a knife or a spoon like that since I’m visually impaired, is it possible that I can use the Apple core thing to take the Apple core out? Second question is, can I put caramel inside of that apple and bake it as well? By the way, I love baked apples.
John: I'm a baker and I like making pastry. What's your favorite dessert? I'd love to make it for you. Suzanne: *Picks literally the only dessert that involves no pastry*

3 ingredients to add: shredded coconut, toffee bits, caramel. Use an apple cider bath.

This takes me back. For thanksgiving my mom would use green apples, filled up with brown sugar and a pinch of cinnamon.
I made this today with some allspice as well and oh my God, they are delicious and makes the house smell awesome.
I saw this tonight and made them. I cut my apples in half and piled the filling on top. It was very good!!!!!
A treat for your mother in law? That’s so incredibly refreshing I love it
I made 2 apple pies last week using your recipe 😉 They were amazing!

It’s also yummy with some sultanas stuffed into the apple and served with custard.
Ooooh, custard!
This was really good. I was tempted to add a drop of maple syrup, but stayed with the basic recipe and it was really popular.
