What a really fabulous looking car, straight out of an early gangster movie by the looks of it. Absolutely amazing and such a very lucky owner. Thanks for this guys.
I've been enamored by Hupmobile autos since I was a kid and saw one in a small museum called "Early Wheels". Very glad I happened to get this video on youtube of such a rare car.
This Hupmobile presentation brings me back to my teenage years in McKeesport ,Pa. Mr. Jordan was the owner of a Hupmobile and body and fender repair- man He owned and had a repair business housed in a garage off of O'Neil Blvd. Jim was the son of Mr. Jordan. He had an older brother that I do not recall his name ,but I distinctly remember him. Mr. Jordan wife, and sons drove his Hup. Car every Sunday to attend church services conducted at St.Pius IV ,Versailles Ave.McKeesport,Pa. Thank you ! Donald CHIAVETTA What wonderful
Glad this Hup brought back some great memories. It must have been real nice to leave such a lasting impression. Another great reason to own a classic car. Thanks for watching.
I have great respect for collectors like Steve that preserves those glorious years of amazing car builders. This one is absolutely a masterpiece and shows it very well in its preservation. Congratulations on a job well done. Would love to see this car roll down the red carpet at Pebbles Beach soon.
Hupmobiles were famous for their high quality body work which is very evident in this model. Notice the trunk rack on the rear? That is the origin of Americans referring to the "trunk" on their cars. The British called it a boot because on old time carriages the footmen rode on the back on a little platform they called a boot step. It's interesting to me how the people that made the body work of cars, who used to build carriages still included carriage features on cars.
i'm sure all the anomalies were corrected during the restoration- not an original color, but the overall bodywork is impeccable. my respects to the painter.
I am seventy-six, and have heard the name Hupmobile numerous times, but had no idea what a gorgeous vehicle that they could be. The color codes for this paint combination would be great for many types of later automobiles. Thank you for sharing this beauty with us.
IMHO, whether or not it is a prize winner-, the color, the design, the engine, and many unique and appealing details make this car that would be a crowd pleaser at the top car shows including Pebble Beach.
Trivia: there's an episode of Leave it to Beaver where Ward mentions dating a girl because her father owned a Hupmobile. Nice car. Edit for IMDB quote, I stand corrected: It's revealed that Ward had a teen-aged crush on Loretta Mish. Ward mentions that Loretta Mish's dad had a Hupmobile Agency in Shaker Heights. The Hupmobile was a car built from 1909 through 1939.
Thank you, Steve, for showing us this beautiful car. Haven't seen too many examples of Hupmobiles at all. Can we request the DeSoto '57 or '58 convertible sitting in the garage for next time? That looks absolutely beautiful.
I worked as a mechanic back in 1955 and the firm i worked for had a 19 29 hupmobile in for repairs and it had a lot of the same fittings like the window s and seats done in the same as this model I live in New Zealand but do not know what happened to the car after it was fixed and the owner took it home. the head liner looked the same as with the interior lights it also had the twin side mounted spares
Hupmobile, as other manufactures, really tried to impress the completion to sell cars. Most , if not all, were over the top in terms of craftsmanship and options all of which were superior especially during these time of the great depression. Most were Coach Built bodies too. Seems all these cars that ended up being sent to the WORLDS FAIR were painted in some sort of shade of Green. Beautiful automobile, thank you.
Darn! Fantastic automobile. Would have loved to hear it run, and hopefully a ride along.. The fact that it is restored but with elements of originality.🙏
My fathers first car was a 1927 Hupmobile light truck which he converted from a single cab to a covered in camper which we three siblings used to travel in. Un fortunately it was left on my uncles farm in Poowong Victoria, Australia. Sadly to young to know future value.
32 was a great year for car design. The windshield reminds me of the 32 Ford, Little Deuce Coupe on the Beach Boys album. They say "You can't take it with you", but if you could... would be nice in Heaven's garage.
Thank you to Steve and others like him who have the interest and the where with all to restore these fantastic vehicles for all of us to enjoy. I am wondering what this Hupmobile is worth (priceless is my guess) after all the investments in it and its rarity. Thank you also to the craftsmen who can do all the restoration work for our enjoyment. The car is very beautiful with its green (my favorite) color and excellent restoration.
Thank you for the kind remarks. I would imagine that when they car was being built so very many years ago that nobody could have anticipated that it would still be around almost 100 years later. I am looking forward to completing the car and will continue to take seriously my role in maintaining it. As for the current value? I am not sure. It will be something that I will have to address in the spring of next year when it is completed.
It's amazing that the design of these cars was so incredibly beautiful, and today they all look alike and are extremely bland. I will be in the market for a new car in a year or so and I will absolutely buy an old 30's car that is restored. Most of them are cheaper than the new pieces of trash they sell today.
Totally gorgeous, very nice. Sometime it would be awesome to do a video or two of one or more of very intriguing vehicles in the background🤩. Thank you
I always wonder what the auto industry would look like if it didn't have to face the Great Depression and then WWII right after. There sure were some beautiful cars back then, this being one of them.
Shades are standard on this car, Murray bodied Model A's had them, even the cheap tudor's had a shade in the back window. Shades were going out from '33 on.
Volvo 142 (early 70:s) could be had with that Colour "Ocean green", code # 109". I once painted my customized Volvo PV544 in that colour. It is a juicy colour!.... Hupmobile did survive the depression.. By hibernating with low numbers?...
Admit that we missed the opportunity to start the car. Neither of us thought to do that. Given the rarity of the car it will not be driven long distances but will make it to more shows once it is done next Spring.
Glad to see it found a great home. Respect to the folks who restore where you have to and leave the rest stock. Special car.

That was one of the first things that I noticed about the car when I first saw it. Really made an impression on me.
Duesy quality car.
My cousin owned a 1925 Hupmobile 3 door model R it was like a Model A in comparison to this beauty.
Thanks for watching.
Beautiful car. I was admiring it when the Ant Hill Mob crossed my mind. The spare tire placement and chromed radiator is what did it.
Thanks for watching.
You sir, are a very, very lucky man! What an amazingly beautiful piece of American automotive history! Outstanding!!
