Unloading a 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix.
Beautyful year, smooth not overly tacky!
312 V8 I bekieve .. it was widest car on road .. regulation in 1961 set a maximin width forr all cars
Gorgeous classic from the 1960's. Love the push buttons. The rear sort of reminds me of an English Daimler, without the fins of course. What year is the black one in the background? I have always like the styling of that one as well. Thanks for sharing!
Always liked the widely spaced headlights and "the blob" taillights on these! Even when new, you just didn't see many of these on the road.
At the age of 16, I bought my first car. A 1951 Studebaker champion 4 dr. I thought it was the ugliest car on the road! But, it was unique. The column shift was converted to a Willy's jeep floor shift, a big deal back then. So I set to make it something special. I won a lavender teddy bear at the county fair. I took it to a paint shop and had them match the color. Bought a diaphram compressor. Removed the ugly front bumper, and painted the car. Indeed, as a junior in Newberg Union Oregon high school, I had a unique automobile I was proud of. I subsequently was arrested for having a speed contest, and was unable to drive to the Senior prom At the age of 20, I was able to purchase a 1953 Studebaker coupe that I considered a beauty, but Navy obligations prevented me from ever putting it on the road. Needless to say, I developed a LOVE FOR Studebakers. I just turned 80.
Ridiculous beautiful
Great video! Beautiful car! 😍😍😍 The golden age of the automotive industry! The bigger the better...😅
Thanks for watching.
Love '60 Mercs. That is the bottom model.
I love them too. Thanks for watching.
With overdrive, you could easily run 70 mph.
That would have been fast in its day. Thanks for watching.
Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end. Thanks for watching.
Very cool looking car!!
I agree! Thanks for watching.
My first car was a 1962 G.T. Hawk that my dad helped me purchase in 1977. In 1962, Dad bought a new four door V8 Lark instead, for his young family.
Thanks for sharing your memory. Thanks for watching.
That's a beautiful car. Especially like the rear window curve and chrome. Curvature of grill seems to match the dashboard.
I agree! It's a cool looking window. Thanks for watching.
Ooh I love this Mercury. The emblems on the fenders are called a gunsight and the rear window is called panoramic. Great one Mike 👍
Thats right Dave I forgot about the gunsights name. Thanks.
@Mikesclassicautoworld You're welcome. The 60-61 full size Mercurys are special.
Nice. I'd hate to have to replace the back glass on that one. Another great find.
"Knock on wood". Thanks for watching.
standard was a 312 cu in V8...............optional was a 383 cu in V8.....in the Monterey series
Thank you dlbrittain1976 for that info. I drew a blank on this one. Thanks for watching.
Also available was the 430.. plus $173. for the Merc-O-Matic!
One classic motor car !!
For sure. Thanks for watching Geoff.
1937
Yep. Thanks for watching.
I'm a Ford guy generally but these LaSalles are right up there as my favorite pre-war car.
I can see why they are pretty nice. Thanks for watching.
That’s a typical 20-30s color for appliances like ice boxes. That and a muddy green two tone is on my ice box.
Never thought about it but I guess you're right. Thanks for watching.
How many lights does this car have? Yes
2 headlights, 2 driving lights, 2 spot lights and 2 turn signal lights.
Look . You can actually see the motor. Hahaha 😂
Thanks for watching.
A very unusual car, and a VERY unusual model, the Town Sedan!!! They were disregarded for so many decades, but, through the lens of time, they are such a strikingly beautiful example of art " de-car "!!!
I agree. Thanks for watching.
Love it! ❤
Me too. Thanks for watching.
The white wheels may have been available as a dealer accessory. But they were standard on the Frost White '90 Prelude Si with ALB (Anti-Lock Brakes). They were standard on the '91 Prelude Si with ALB or 4WS (4-wheel steering). Regular Frost White '90 Si models had 14" wheel covers (same as the Prelude 2.0Si) and '91s had silver alloys.
Thanks for the info and thanks for watching.
Amazing mechanical work of art , most definitely he has to go to show his car everywhere
For sure. Thanks for watching.
I respect to the man for me a wonderful caretaker!! And preserving history for future generations
I agree. Thanks for watching.
Mechanical art
Sure is. Thanks for watching.
I once owned a 47 Sixty Special and like the 4dr. better than the fastback. This is a real nice car though.
Thanks for watching Gary.
An avid classic car collector, who has never even popped the hood?! I find this perposterous. Truly unbelievable!
After purchasing the car it went straight to the restoration shop, where is was for months. The filmed visit was scheduled for immediately after the car arrived home and there was just no time to go over it before the actual filming. As stated, I had not even had the opportunity of opening the hood before the filming.
@@stevemaconi3348 Must be nice. Beautiful slead, mate. As a lifelong car fanatic/mechanic, I couldn't go more than a few minutes without getting under the hood. Different lifestyles and levels of income, I suppose.
"Ferdinand Porche had his hand in the design of the Volkswagen", may be the biggest understatement of the past century!
Thanks for watching.
This car has synchonizers on second and third gears--all cars had them by this time, perhaps except for the Duesenberg Model J. If the transmission crunches or grinds when shifting into second or third it could be the synchros are worn out. It could also be the clutch is not adjusted properly and is not disengaging far enough.
Thanks for that info. Thanks for watching.
Where did the owner get the replacement parts to restore this car...the steering wheel insert is not available as a reproduction...and my wood insert was the first to go...also all of the reproduction parts are poorly made and arent exact and rarely fit properly. those cars were prone to leak...everywhere...especially under the passenger and driver floors...the chrome moldings around the opera windows...turned dark very fast...and where did he get a replacement for them?...curious
Hello CherchezPas. This is an older 5 year restoration done from 2001 to 2006 and has held up amazing well. The car was in excellent condition then but nos parts were still sought out and used. Most parts were found during the 90s before the internet. As you know little if any parts are available in the repro world but you can find the opera window moldings at "thepartsplaceinc". Here is another video of the car. Video link ruclips.net/video/ZUD_UwBwOv8/видео.html Thanks for watching.
When I was a kid one of our neighbors had a triple black very similar to this - I know it was a 72 b/c of the taillights and small front bumper. I was friends with their daughter and we would ride in it with her parents. This was very deluxe for our neighborhood / there was I think one other Lincoln (a Mark IV) in my entire bicycle range of several adjoining communities. Power windows were an incredible temptation for me - no one had them at our level. Her Dad was indulgent but I really had to struggle to keep my finger off the button - my guess is he probably activated the lockout more than once (which would have confused - of not scared - the heck out of me; did I break it?) Very sinister car and thus a lot of TV use. I remember Lincoln base prices seemed expensive vs. Cadillac - but AC and a radio were standard on Lincoln, optional on Cadillac. Your owner is correct, the reclining seat was an option - indeed so was the split bench, and the power passenger seat (this looks to have only the 2 way, but you could get 6 way as well). Dual 6 way seats with passenger recline was the top seat option and expensive.
That is a great story! Thanks Joe. This car is currently on display at America's Transportation Experiance / AACA Museum in Hershey Pa. Thanks for watching.
Sweet! My Grandmother had one of these back in the day.(Long gone by the time I came on the scene).
Thanks for watching Hugh.
Thank you for being you. I just love history in automobiles as an automotive electrical and mechanical guy from the army. It is obvious though that the use of today who now do not wish to be part of history they leave many of the cars that have been restored lovingly restored too to the auction house where no one wants them. All the guys I see on these shows are my age they? They love the cars from the 30s and all the technology that came in that period of time. I would really like to know more about the automobile called moon as I said it was very expensive and very few are made in regards hell from down under unfortunately we throw history away here sorry to say.
Glad you like the video Alan. When I come across a Moon I will certainly try to do a video of it. Thanks for watching.
u always show the best cars, Mike. Lot of fun. Thanks. She's a beauty.
I'm glad you think so Iggy. Thanks for watching.
Beautiful Mike!
Sure is! Thanks for watching.
Very nice. I am not sure, but I have been under the impression that the La Salle was an upgrade or more of a premium than the standard Cadillac ? Thanks
Cadillac was always GMs top brand. During this period the LaSalle was positioned just under Cadillac but still an upper level car. Thanks for watching.
@@Mikesclassicautoworld Thanks for clearing that up for me. Really a nice car.
@@ChollaJJ you're welcome. Thanks for watching.
Is that beautiful! I can imagine Humphrey Bogart behind the wheel.
For sure. Now thats in my mind. 😂Thanks for watching Brian.
Looks like it was made last week. Another great find!
Sure does. Thanks for watching.
I'm grateful to men who preserve our history, thank you sir!
You're welcome. Thanks for watching.
I had a friend who inherited his aunt's 202 2dr sedan - even more of a stripper and 3 on the tree. Teal, but more green in it than blue. Dog dish hubcaps and really basic interior. This would have been mid-late 80's. Someone hit them pretty badly and there was a battle royale getting the other insurance company to pay to fix it. Naturally they wanted to total it (it wasn't worth anything) but it had been preserved and somewhat restored (paint, trim, interior freshened). They won eventually but the ultimate bill could probably have bought 3/4's of a new Tempo; my friend was not backing down. These things were pretty much bulletproof especially for what was essentially a throwaway car. Lots of room inside too for the size. I looked at a 64 Caliente sedan once, but it was a 6 and I really wanted the V8 - might have been a bad decision to pass.
Thanks for watching.
It's too bad that Pontiac didn't make this the GTO. The styling was distinct enough to warrant the GTO nameplate.
Kinda like the 73 GTO. Thanks for watching.
Real Desoto.got back window
Thanks for watching.
The real window can be opened , since I glower up in that car , certainly touching rear window opening , in age 7 , let me control the steering wheel , our Desoto was in blue colour inside in brownish beige on the side of steering wheel there was a device for Horn, front characteristic two yellow fog lamps , I found the main front light not bright enough , also lack of focusing point
Desoto my father once bought it 1:13
Lucky man. He had a very nice car.
Now, this guy, is my kind of guy. He showed you alot of stuff, he probably never shows. Beautiful car! And very nice man👍😎💙🇺🇦
I think so too. He came very prepared with some really neat stuff. I loved the entire display. Thanks for watching.
This car looks like a Tank, I am sure this is one of my favorites…👍😎💙🇺🇦
A very elegant tank. lol. Thanks for watching.
So happy you found a 40’s Chrysler New Yorker Town & Country…very rare those Woodies, Looks Terrific👍😎💙🇺🇦
I agree. I always loved the Town & Countries. Thanks for watching.
I think with this car, he has a chance at WINNING PEBBLE BEACH, I mean 1of 6, he is probably the only one Alive, good find my friend 👍😎💙🇺🇦 Nice color too, it feels like a 30’s car 👍
I agree. A serious contender for sure. Thanks for watching.
