I've see a number of youtubers moving their chickens in those and have had half a mind to suggest they electrify them somehow. Glad to see what you did there.
I have been using the Premier One solar fencing for three years and it works Great!! Pricey, but a great investment! I have it surrounding my chickens and garden.
We use the Premier One Poultry netting with our Turkeys. We had a fox get through it this year but most likely the fault of the energizer not being strong enough. We will make improvements for next year.
@@sunnysideupfarmct omg...I just realized I said "pier one" 😅😂😅 Yes if it doesn't have a good charge it weakens overnight. I lost a few chickens and realized I needed to reposition the panel and haven't had an issue since.
Nice! I already have solar on my current tractor to run the automatic door to a fully enclosed coop, which serves the same purpose. Security. If there is nothing in the run, they don't bother digging under it. Problem is, it's a modified hobby coop that I extended run on and added 2x4 rails and its just too damn heavy. It probably weighs as much as your aframe and holds 1/3 of the birds. I was just thinking of doing something similar, but using the Salatin styling and with two levels of wire to keep them from digging and jumping on top. I don't need anything as large as either style since I'm in the subs and only do 10-12 birds at a time.
I will be building another one of these soon for my Turkeys (with a a few modifications) since we had a fox take most of them last year using electric netting and a turkey shaw. No losses with this tractor since electrifying it. Thanks for watching.
Just a suggestion , I live in Iowa lots of preditors, got ally chickens one time , now I know they have to be I'm a secure coop at night. Their coop part is at the back of one of those premade, I try to move it in the morning before letting them out of the secure part . I wish I had wheels like yours , but you could build a coop at the back that doesn't touch the ground and before letting them out just move the coop. Thank you great idea to keep your chickens safe 🙂🙏💖
Thanks for the suggestions. I have not had any predator problems since electrifying but I have added perches to keep the chickens off the ground at night and as a second measure of defense from raccoons reaching under if the energizer fails for some reason. Wanted to keep the weight down since we move them twice daily.
@YAHWEHrules - You could use trailer jacks. Just attach one on each side of the coop. I got a couple myself from Harbor Freight for less than $30. each.
A box with a sliding door to enclose them at night and a sheep dog are a couple more alternatives 💖🙏🙂 your idea is great though , no preditors going through that 🙂🙏💖 sheep dogs are very protective of anything's ng they deem their sheepple 🙂🙏
We have an Aussie Border mix but she spends nights inside so not much of a help for security at night for us. She is great during the day in keeping hawks and such away.
I understand your concern and did think that initially but I will measure between 5500 and 6200 volts around the tractor and I have witnessed a fox on my trail cam get shocked and leave. Some portable solar energizers have built in ground rods that do not go in the ground as far as the one I use. Thanks for watching.
I did use poly wire on this tractor because it was easy to attach and could be adjusted easily to keep it tensioned. I have since built a second tractor in which I did use metal wire. The link is below. Both have worked equally as well so far. ruclips.net/video/lDwCVMACeQo/видео.htmlsi=ZNS3fjhpebo-B7hm
You have all that space but you have your chooks crammed in? Is it a human thing to do this by default? I tried keeping the chooks penned up but couldn't handle the cries for freedom. Now i have a Staffordshire terrier to guard them night and day. Just get a dog or a rifle or both. In the outer suburbs im not allowed to shoot it, unless im at the very far away shooting range or if i kill a dog cat or fox on my property. I love dog's and a pampered cat is no match for my big reds, but a fox i have to kill, as it will just keep coming back and it gets smarter. Unless my dog catches it. I use sensor lights and my dog pees around the fence line. My pen has perching past the 2metre line, where a fox cant reach. Build a permanent pen with a raised floor. Electrical fencing isnt reliable enough.
Thanks for your comments. These birds are our meat birds. We move them twice a day so they are always on fresh grass. Our predator pressure from above and below is too high for us the have them loose. They will be being processed in about 4-5 weeks. Our laying hens are kept in their own larger permanent enclosure with a coop and an automatic door to keep them safe. Thanks for watching.
Thanku for sharing 🙏🏻 Love from Punjab 😇
May God bless u with Peace and harmony 🙏🏻
Thank you for your kind words and thanks for watching.

Great idea I love it thanks for the video
Thanks for watching. It really has kept our birds safe.
I really doubt that will work. Your ground on an electric fence needs to be down very deep to work.

We pound our ground rods in 8 or so inches and they work just fine.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding something, but you used poly wire instead of metal wire?

Which part is ridiculous? Are you a chicken thief? 😆
