Tamara, A 1st time grandfather in the US sources a DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro for "XMAS", records some spectacular footage/moments, in D-Log M, but remained clueless where color grading was concerned! After listening to at least (7) DaVinci Resolve reviews, I was no closer to sending Family Members any videos to cherish:-0( In the end, it was your elegant and insightful Mimo App video that saved Christmas and I'm a hero again, if only for a short moment:-0) I just wanted to express my gratitude and say thank you 🙏 Best, Curt///
Thank you Tamara! I really appreciate you making these Action 5 videos 🙌Just got mine few weeks ago and your videos have helped a lot! Still waiting for the night mode tutorial 😄
The corrected log footage looks really good. However, for someone a bit lazy like me, who finds it a hassle to go through the correction process, the standard colour profile which doesn't look great. with oversharpening, overly saturated greens, and a strange milkiness in background scenery as seen in Jumping Places' recent video series in Guatemala which makes it look terrible. Why can’t DJI include a couple of in-camera colour profiles without HDR in the next firmware update? If they did, I would almost certainly invest in the Action 5.
I mostly shoot in D-Log M when using the Action 5 Pro. And it's great that can apply the correction LUT in the Mimo app. Great video, and thanks for sharing.
I edit on mobile and it’s great!!! Looks good! You can even tweak it beyond the one click, though usually it looks good just from that!! I love my Action 5. My only complaint is it took me three tries with DJI service to get one with a working USB - C door, the first tries opened on their own. Finally I got one that stays closed! Otherwise I love it!!!
If you use colour recovery in the camera the footage will still be flat when you record, it’s just to preview. So yes, you’ll still need to convert the footage in the edit.
Hey, been using my OA5pro for a while now, got it after seeing your videos. Was skeptical of the default footage as I didnt want to shoot in dlog but thank god absolutely love the look of the normal mode. It is quite punchy and sharp, love it for vlogging.
@TamaraGabrielUK makes sense. Hope you enjoyed the holidays. Glad to have you back. Hopefully along the lines you can also check for us if the Osmo Action 5 is usable as a studio camera for talking head shots.
Hi Tamara.. Thanks for explaining. I just treated myself to the Action 5 for Christmas. The chair is nice but the hoodie you were wearing while sitting in the chair looks super comfortable.
So you have another.. prefect! Great minds think alike. I’ve been learning a lot from watching your channel.. Just viewed the low light comparison you did with the 3 action cameras. The Action 5 was by far the best in low light. And your vlog in Germany with the guys.. You going over the cobblestone while riding the scooter “ahahahahaha” 😄
Videoing from the A5P and using the litecut app on my phone for the color lut is the absolute easiest way a beginner like me can do it. Thanks for the video! And thank you DJI for making me look semi-pro 😂 also works for all my DJI drones!!
Hi. In cloudy weather, when shooting in D-log M (environmental shooting on foot), there are jumps in brightness and a vignette appears. Can you comment on this?

Hi Curt. Happy new year and congrats on being a grandfather ☺️ I’m glad the video helped you out and you were able to share all the footage with your family after all 🙌🏾
Hi I love you videos. I am currently using dji osmo Action 5 can you make a video comparing the stabilization between the rock steady, Rock steady+ and horizon balance and others and which will be suitable for regular use.
If quality is your focus I wouldn’t choose either as there are better options for that type of shoot, it just depends on your budget and the features you need.
This is great, thanks! I hadn't really tried the MIMO app to just do a basic color correct, that comes in very handy. Especially on iPad, where sadly the Final Cut version for iPad doesn't allow importing a LUT. Annoying... but this fixes it!
Thank you so much for the video, that helps a lot! Is there a reason why DJI does not allow this directly in the camera? So if I understand correctly, there is only Normal Mode and M-Log. But the normal mode looks so much worse than just M-Log with the unprocessed LUT from DJI. Or is it also possible to create your own color profile in the camera? It would be so much more convenient if you could take the files “in pretty” directly from the SD card and send them to friends instead of having to transport them through the color correction on the PC or smartphone first.
The only inconvenients that i found with the mimo app conversion is that you can only do it file by file :/ You can't convert multiple files at once. Lets say you shoot the day with your friends skiing in vacation and the evening your friends wants to see the footage but you dont want to show them the raw images and you don't have the time to import all the footage in a montage software to convert. What could be the fastest way ?
I don't think there's any other way than to import the footage into a video and then apply the conversion. The same goes for if you were to use LightCut, you'd still have to load the footage into the app first.
It’s the same site as the Action 5 LUTs download, you just have to select the Pocket 3, here you go www.dji.com/ie/mobile/downloads/products/osmo-pocket-3#transcoding
Looking to sell my DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro, purchased recently in November 2024 from Vietnam. Condition: Like new, barely used, with no scratches or damages. Accessories: Includes original box, accessories, and purchase receipt. Warranty: Still under manufacturer warranty. Reason for selling brought Sony A7 3 Perfect for travel vloggers, content creators, or action enthusiasts. Contact me for more details or to negotiate the price.
DJI Action 5 pro have worst stabilisation in low light and indoor day light. I will suggest save money use your phone with gimbal and do not buy this dash cam❤
Totally agree don't buy this junk camera invest in a smart phone I don't have the time and skills to purchase the latest computer chip for the current Djl lightcut to work and then spend more time correcting settings and editing for its downfall . My first video out of the box was horrendous and three updates later still wasting my time looking at videos for a solution. Think it's going to Cex and I will take the loss and use my old osmo action that's smaller lighter and works well and don't get sucked into the hype of buying new tech when you don't need it.
Yep agree. First pay them money and then waste your time to find out best setting to get good video from dji dash cam. It’s better invest in Good brand cameras or use your iPhone.
This camera is the worst ever DJI product i have purchased, i should have sent it back within 14 days and just sticked with my original osmo action. So disappointed with the images it catches and i dont have the time to mess with after market software to correct its downfall. I get better results with my old iphone 11 pro.

You are actually one of my favorit content creators out there. Like your style so much! You go Tamara!
Thank you ☺️
I like to keep the d-log footage as is! Like the yellow tint that gets associated with “Mexico,” the flat colors elicit thinking of “Britain.”
Thank you Tamara! I really appreciate you making these Action 5 videos 🙌Just got mine few weeks ago and your videos have helped a lot! Still waiting for the night mode tutorial 😄
Hoping to do that video within the next two weeks 😊

Ohhh! There’s downloadable LUTs in the website! Thanks for the great info! Now I can edit my videos efficiently with better quality 😍
Do you need the ‘Lut’ still even though you did the ‘colour recovery’?

Haha, with it being the holidays I took some time to chill and have a break. Back to it now 🙌🏾

@@MaynardManyowa Good idea for a video, I'll add it to the list.
Very helpful, thank you. Just getting Action 5 tomorrow and was a bit worried about this as I have no experience with it.
I wonder if the Color Recovery mode will come to the osmo pocket 3 and action 4. That would be clutch for monitoring for me.
Even though you can’t do it in the cameras you can do it via the Mimo app whilst you’re in the live preview.
I am learning so much from you. Thank you!
This has been a helpful video now lemme learn how to use finalcut pro well on desktop
Any ideea please how fix lense flare dji action 5?
I have very bad lense flare " Trompet"
Great to know, thank you for sharing. 🤗have a great new year.
You too ☺️
Hi Tamara.. Thanks for explaining. I just treated myself to the Action 5 for Christmas. The chair is nice but the hoodie you were wearing while sitting in the chair looks super comfortable.
Haha, it’s awesome, it’s like wearing a soft blanket all day 😅
If it’s possible, purchase another one and keep them in rotation during the winter months to keep your back warm while you’re in editing mode 😊
Yep, I’ve got two 😁

Yeah the Action 5 is no doubt the best in low light. The Germany trip was definitely one of my highlights of last year 😌
Great video, and thank you for the tips! Was this filmed on the Action 5?
Thank you! No, I don’t use the Action 5 for indoor sit down videos like this, I used the Pocket 3 for the talking head.
@@TamaraGabrielUK Great quality, didn't realize! Do you film in Log with the Pocket 3 as well?
Yep, then colour grade with FilmConvert Nitrate.

Hey I just want to ask you in your opinion which one you think is better this one or the 360 for Real Estate video
If quality is your focus I wouldn’t choose either as there are better options for that type of shoot, it just depends on your budget and the features you need.
@TamaraGabrielUK okay okay but which one you think have better video quality?
So does d-log m fix the contrast issue you noticed when compared to the osmo action 4?
D-Log M is unprocessed footage so the HDR issues when shooting in the Normal colour profile aren’t present.
This is great, thanks! I hadn't really tried the MIMO app to just do a basic color correct, that comes in very handy. Especially on iPad, where sadly the Final Cut version for iPad doesn't allow importing a LUT. Annoying... but this fixes it!

No you can’t create your own colour profile in the camera, you have to export the footage to convert the D-Log M footage.
I m from India
Please tell me the lut of action 5 pro 10 bit colour for motovlog.
For mobile edit
Noob question: can you do the color correction on the phone work-flow with Pocket 3 d-log footage?
Yep, it’s the same process.
The only inconvenients that i found with the mimo app conversion is that you can only do it file by file :/
You can't convert multiple files at once.

Thanks for the tips as always. Was wondering when we were getting a new TG video haha. Now DJI just needs to fix the HDR issues.
Yep, it’s the fix I’m still waiting on too.
@ yup lmaooooo
Great video,,,
what I disliked while using the mimo app after conversion it puts their watermark on the video that sucks
You can remove it from the app
@ how? Been uploading with it on my videos 😂😂
If I remember correctly it’s in the dropdown of the export menu
😅😅😅

You need to adjust your settings to counter the shakiness.
