Can you please do a video showing how to do the best settings without using D-log. Not everyone wants to colour grade. Settings for those who just want to set and forget. Showing how to get to those settings. I Played with the Super night Mode and wasn't impressed. I found the normal video mode to handle low light with street lights better. I'm a 4k 60fps Person. I use the dji mic 2 with it. Thanks for your great Video's.
Hi Tamara, good to see you on videos again! I was wondering if you could give me some videos about the best ways to use action cameras to get good shots on bikes/E-bikes... things like camera placement, times of day, directions to ride at certain lighting etc. I'm interested in your perspective and camera you liked best.
Thank you so much! It was because of your videos I purchased the action 5 pro 2wks ago. Your videos are super informative and easy to follow for a camera novice like myself. I use it for vlogging and I love it!! Thanks again!😊
Minimum shutter 1/200, this will eliminate EIS jitters FPS 50 for EU and 60 for America Lock exposure at -0.3 or -0.7 on a sunny day, this will inhibit exposure floating or rapid change in exposure when in the woods Auto ISO D-log M Sharpness -2 Noise reduction -2 WB locked at whatever you prefer
Hi. What are your thoughts about the Dji action 4 for cinematic video and filming product commercials ? Is the Dji action 4 a better choice for video compared to iphone 15 ?
I would say the iPhone 15 is better since the Action 4 has a long minimum focusing distance so you won’t get the best product shots. It also lacks any kind of shallow depth of field, which I’m guessing you’ll want for product shots.
Another great video, Tamara. Thank you. It was awesome to see the pairing of Action 5 with MT2. I will look for more info on that. Also, another vid on your colour grading process would be helpful. Thanks again.
I think the biggest problem and the issue that I'm thinking of its worth buying Is the lowlight stabilization and noise I'm not saying a true low light situations but I think is better to address on a indoor or even a on Sunset time how can I get the best stabilization and good lighting What do you think of it when indoors
Thanks for the video. I used the Action to record a scenic drive in Scotland. Settings: Dewarp, 4k50, everything else auto, i.e Pro mode not used. It was overcast but bright early afternoon. The footage was very noisy. Where do you think I went wrong? I guess I should have used Pro but I didn't think it necessary in daylight.
Have you been filming in D-LOG by any chance? I could not get rid of the noise also, no matter what settings I had. But filing in D-LOG really helped. Even in a very bad weather. I have review on my channel if you're interested.
Hey Tamara, great tips as always. I found that, most times, recording in 4K25 gives unstable footage in terms of picture quality especially in conditions where lights aren't always available i.e. driving inside a car on a cloudy day. One moment the picture is crystal clear, but once it's overcasted, the picture becomes grainy and somewhat pixelated. I suspect the camera is trying to expose by raising the ISO. But when I switch to 4K50, the picture is always smooth and perfect, doesn't matter what the conditions are. Even when the lights are low, the grains are still very minimal compared to 4K25 (it is very counter intuitive as less fps are more ideal in low light). Based on the above, I suspect that shooting in 4K50 forces the camera to use its highest bitrate therefore yielding the best picture quality. So now I always shoot in 4K50 even though I export my project in 4K25. Do you find this to be true? Or is it just me? Please advice. For reference, my settings are 4K25 or 4K50 1/100-1/8000 (avoiding jitter with lower shutter speed) EV -0.3 to -0.7 ISO Auto 100-12800 T -2 NR -2 DLogM Manual white balance Rocksteady Wide Bitrate high
Let me put my 5 cents here. Unfortunately - none of action cameras are not for photos. I was testing this so many times and with so many cameras. Of course, the close by photo of th group of people - but good panoramic photo - always will look noisy on the bigger screen, even on the phone. You can play with ISO, white balance a bit, depends on the lighting outside. But still, the photos will be so so.
Unless you’re shooting photos on a very bright sunny day, the photos won’t be any better than your iPhone 14, and even on a bright day the photos will look ok from the action cam but will look the best from your phone.
@@TamaraGabrielUK iPhone 14 has very decent image quality. Plus it has a telephoto lens and auto-focus. I would rather compare photos from actions cams with iPhone 11 or even older phones. I have been recently watching some of my old photos taken with GoPro 3+ and recent Action 5 Pro - almost no diffs in the photo quality.
I'd highly suggest to test the settings for texture and noise reduction again. At least in lower light I found that -2/-2 works best, because -1 NR loses too much detail. Even -1/-2 would be better if you don't want to post process the footage. The noise of the Action 5 is a "good noise", it's slightly grainy but no weird color blobs as known from phones or such.
Thx so much for this! I’m just starting out learning about colour grading and editing and it’s great to have your settings as a start point and I love that you explain why you use them to help us really understand the process. Another video covering your editing/grading process would be great!
Hi Tamara, great video! I'm thinking about getting the DJI Action 5 Pro to improve the quality of my real estate videos. I'm just starting out and I use a DJI Mini 3, but I need a camera to capture better shots. What do you think?
@TamaraGabrielUK I'd love to, the Pocket 3 is awesome, but unfortunately I can't afford it. That's why I'm looking at either the Action 5 Pro or the Action 4. Between those two, which one would you recommend?
When using the mimo app does importing/exporting the clips import to phone internal memory or sd card? I would be using large 4k files and would run out of internal phone space have have microsd card in phone with lots of space
Of course Action 5 Pro has tones of advantages. But price-wise, if you're on the limited budget and you're not into any underwater activities - then Action 4 should be enough. However - the overheating issues on Action 4 still remains. I have tested and compared both cameras with the thermal vision tool.
Camera is fine, but the issue is it doesn't support external other brand mic... So think for gopro you can use your old one whatever the brand it is...
Good morning Madam, I am Prasanta Bhattacharjee from India , your vlog about action camera is very informative for me but I am not vlogger I am just a traveller, I have a Sony alpha 6400 and one HDR AX 43A handycam for video recordings, now I want to buy a action camera but I can't decide which one is best for my travel video, one is Dji osmo action 5 pro and another is Insta 360 ace pro 2 . Please which one I buy as per your advice in all respect, I can't editing the videos just plug and play in tv .
The best settings for me: 4k/50fps (60fps if you live with electricity on 60Hz) Horizon Balancing, Shifter 1/100-1/8000, ISO 100-25600, Color Normal 10bit, Stabilization Sport, Texture -2, Noise Reduction 1.
It would be great to see how you color grading your footage, both for Osmo Action and Pocket 😊 especially at night time scenes. I’m struggling with Osmo Action 5 with night footage, looks so much worse than Osmo Pocket 3
Standard dewarp is a horrendous setting, only suitable for talking head stuff. It's awful compared to gopro Linear mode, I wish I'd bought the Gopro 13 instead. I might do a damning video because you won't notice the problems in videos like this but for other uses it's terrible and once you see it you can't unsee it! I use wide but with Rocksteady plus engaged to chop down the field of view and that's passable for my needs then

Super night and normal video mode on 4K30 seem similar to me too, in higher bitrate :) I found that 4K60 does worse , 30 should be better even 25 fps
Thank you for the advices. Please show your process to color grade.

Do you use the LUT DJI provides? I just discovered it and got the Action 5 Pro. My edits have all been manual color corrections on my Action 4 in log.
Yeah, the DJI LUT is one way of doing it.

Does the color recovery on the mimo app give the same results as using rec 709 lut on the computer?
I haven’t done a like-for-like comparison but it appears to.

Hi!! So, u need a tracking module to use a gimbal with a action camera?
Cheers and tx for the video!
And ... can u make a video talking more about how to configure and use the kit with the Action 5 Pro?
Thanks Tamara would love to see that grading video thx
Which is the best moto vlogging action camera..?
I dont think you can go wrong with this camera, especially with the DJI mic's which integrate so well in camera OS.
for the action 5 pro why not recommend the isteady 4?
Because it doesn’t have a tracker. If you’re not bothered about the tracker then the iSteady Pro 4 is a great gimbal.

Hi. I think if you’re doing real estate videos and you want the best quality from a small camera, the Pocket 3 is the better option.
@TamaraGabrielUK I'd love to, the Pocket 3 is awesome, but unfortunately I can't afford it. That's why I'm looking at either the Action 5 Pro or the Action 4. Between those two, which one would you recommend?
The Action 5 would do better than the Action 4 indoors.
@TamaraGabrielUK Thank you so much for the help, Tamara! Have a great day. Keep doing amazing video's 👏
Can i buy it for my walking tour video
Brilliant and very knowledgeable 😊, whats settings you use the best for low light?
I’ll share a video about the low light settings.
@TamaraGabrielUK that will be great. 👍

There might be an option to have it default to your SD card, but I don’t have an SD card in my phone so I don’t know for sure.
@TamaraGabrielUK thanks for info. Yeah it's hard to find any phone with microsd card slot these days. My phone is S10+ which is ancient in comparison
thanks, useful... probably needed to show how you got to each menu you highlighted.
Would you recommend the action 4 or 5? Thanks
It depends

Always appreciate your content. Aloha From Hawaii 🤙🏽
What ND filters do you recommend for the OA5P?
Mahalo
Thanks. I’ve just got the DJI ones, or you can try Freewell. They do good-quality filters. You can dual ND/PL too.
Can you do this with the insta 360 ace pro 2 also ?
💯
Camera is fine, but the issue is it doesn't support external other brand mic...

Yes, you can use other brand mics with it…

Hello! What mount did you use to attach the a5p to the m2t?
Hey! Just an action camera tripod mount and then the plate that comes with the MT2.
@TamaraGabrielUK I learn something new in every video you make. THANK YOU!

Will wait for night settings. Thank you!

@@TamaraGabrielUK Thank you ❤ Btw I love your vibe ☺
Thanks ☺️
What free editing software can colour grade 10 bit ?
CapCut free edition should be able too I guess.
Can I color grade through Mimo app ?
You can convert the footage and then add a filter, but not properly colour grade
I love that I learn something from all your videos cheers
Thanks for continuing to watch ☺️

Hello?. How to add watermark in dji oA5 pro recording?
What watermark?
@TamaraGabrielUK LOGO (SHOT ON DJI ACTION 5 PRO )😅
The logo comes from DJI.
Does it overheating?
It hasn’t for me, but I don’t live in a hot climate.
I just love your videos
