If you can I would say get the new OM5Pro you’ll save on memory cards and extra batteries for the price difference so it’ll end up being cheaper. Also you’ll future proof yourself I don’t think anyone will need to upgrade from this camera for a long time.

How are slo mo videos on the action 5 pro compared to say an iPhone 14 Pro at night time? I use filmic pro on iPhone 14 pro for 1080p 240fps slo mo videos at night but the lights in the background flicker a lot on my iPhone footage because of the shutter speed thingie.

Bro is this the Action 5 Pro as I am with the latest firmware and there is no 100-200 or 100-400 ISO settings and the Sharpness section is labelled Texture. In fact I found it to be really strange that these 2 ISO parameters are not available. Am I missing something.

The only time you can use a ND filter and the 180 rule is if shooting from a stationary stable platform like a tripod (no need for stabilisation) or like a really smooth bike ride or FPV. The Rocksteady, Rocksteady + and horizon balance rely on high shutter speed to approximate sensor position and maintain stability. I use it on horses, one of the most unstable platforms there is. I shoot in 4:3 I leave my Frame rate on 30 or 60 or 120 FPS depending on the use, Let the shutter speed be Auto for whatever it needs to stabilise. I press the auto white balance and let the sensor pick a temp then change it back to manual to lock it during recording. Iso 100-800 D-log M - Noise reduction -2 Sharpness -2 Wide FOV and Rocksteady or + depending on the terrain. I add motion blur in post with the Davinci resolve FX

@@joebowbeer i am almost constantly filming my motorcycle rides and with my previous osmo action 4 it became very clear that anything below 1/200 (nd8) resulted in noticable random jitter caused by the stabilisation. even on very sunny days and with a helmet mounted camera with no real vibrations from the actual bike. i cant really believe these stated shutter values.... 1/60 and even 1/100 on my motorcycle looked awful. i mean, 1/60 for vlog and motorcycle while they recommend 1/120 for bicycles? doesn't even make real sense to me tbh. i ended up filming in 50p and 1/200 which still gave minimal motion blur at no jitter, but i am willing to re-test everything with my new osmo 5 now just to make sure...
You cannot. You must use high shutter speeds with digital stabilization. This is well known. Forget ND filters to reduce shutter speeds - blurred action destroys digital stabilization. Up your frame rate to smooth motion at the high shutter speeds.

@@joebowbeer as stated earlier, these specs are just theory. in reality they just don't work. a whole year of vlogging motorcycle rides and doing extensive testing with multiple setup combinations simply approved it.
My gosh! You cannot set the shutter speed at twice the frame rate in sunlight! Overexposure in spades! And you cannot use ND filters to reduce the shutter speeds, because the blur will muck up digital stabilization. There is no way to avoid high shutter speeds with an action camera shooting handheld video.
I did that with my go pro all the time .. it would create a lot of motion blur which is what I wanted .. just ordered my nd filters so testing next week
@@markr041 yup I use it on my motorcycle .. I run 1/60 and shoot at 30 fps mainly.. I use a 3200 nd filter since I feel 1600 is too bright still.. but since ur head acts as a bit of a stabilizer it doesn’t get weird … that’s my experience with a GoPro.. about to see how the rocksteady handles it but I don’t use rocksteady plus so that should help
I find it sad that not a single DJI sponsored RUclipsr ever talks about the muddy faces and highlights.... None of you talk about the low bitrate and that this cam is not at all usable for FPV, motorcycles and other fast stuff
because at least part of this just isn't true. don't blindly trust all "the low bitrate is evil" hate spread on YT. It just isn't true. Many people who made in-depth tests showed that there are actually only very rare conditions where the lower bitrate has a noticable effect on the footage. personally, i have checked all my moto vlogging (sportbike) with the new osmo for any visible issues and couldn't find any compared to my previous osmo action 4 - same hardware setup, different setting tests up to 4k50. also, i have yet to see any "muddy face" and can't complain about highlight issues... maybe actually show what you're talking about and e.g. what seetings you were using. anyway, calling out everyone a sponsored youtuber says all tbh...
I am using it on my motorcycle no problems .. just switched up form a go pro hero 12 and even than with the GoPro u had an option for high bitrate but never used it as it made the files larger .. with an nd filter on my camera im bringing in motion blur and than uploading to shorts ig or TikTok it doesn’t matter as much as u think.. still looks great .. as long as i get 10 bit color options which it has i felt that makes the bigger difference

It’s not the same sensor. Actin 5 pro is the first camera from DJI to have this sensor.

I don't know about noise and details at - 2. For me, the image is too noisy and soft. I will probably revert back to zero

I just bought one of these. NO ONE has said anything about this camera not having 1/48 shutter speed. I usually shoot in 24fps but now i cannot.
1/50 shutter speed is close enough.
