@@airbazoo Awesome. Please mention that the 48MP camera lens is the equipment of a 7MP camera when compared side by side for accuracy.
My 10MP Pentax from 2006, still takes better photos than iPhone’s 48MP. Fake marketing with apple’s pixel multiplication.

Helpful video, thank you! A question: so even though the Action 5 is in Manual mode, the ISO range setting 100-800 is still a variable, so the camera isn't really in true Manual mode? It is in Manual + Auto ISO mode? Like I use on my Nikon D7500 and Sony A7 IV?
Also I notice in several of your settings screen shots EV -1.7 and EV -2.3. Did I miss that discussion in your video? I don't see it in the Transcript. Are you making those changes on the camera? Thanks.

The only time you can use a ND filter and the 180 rule is if shooting from a stationary stable platform like a tripod (no need for stabilisation) or like a really smooth bike ride or FPV. The Rocksteady, Rocksteady + and horizon balance rely on high shutter speed to approximate sensor position and maintain stability.
I use it on horses, one of the most unstable platforms there is.
I shoot in 4:3 I leave my Frame rate on 30 or 60 or 120 FPS depending on the use, Let the shutter speed be Auto for whatever it needs to stabilise. I press the auto white balance and let the sensor pick a temp then change it back to manual to lock it during recording. Iso 100-800 D-log M - Noise reduction -2 Sharpness -2 Wide FOV and Rocksteady or + depending on the terrain.
I add motion blur in post with the Davinci resolve FX

Thanks! I noticed on DJI site: min. shutter speed w/RS at 25-30fps in low light is: 1/30 to 1/60 (vlog), 1/60 (motorcycle), 1/120 (bike, dive). ISO 100-1600. No mention of ND filter, as these guidelines are for filming in low light.

i am almost constantly filming my motorcycle rides and with my previous osmo action 4 it became very clear that anything below 1/200 (nd8) resulted in noticable random jitter caused by the stabilisation. even on very sunny days and with a helmet mounted camera with no real vibrations from the actual bike.
i cant really believe these stated shutter values.... 1/60 and even 1/100 on my motorcycle looked awful. i mean, 1/60 for vlog and motorcycle while they recommend 1/120 for bicycles? doesn't even make real sense to me tbh.
i ended up filming in 50p and 1/200 which still gave minimal motion blur at no jitter, but i am willing to re-test everything with my new osmo 5 now just to make sure...

You cannot. You must use high shutter speeds with digital stabilization. This is well known. Forget ND filters to reduce shutter speeds - blurred action destroys digital stabilization. Up your frame rate to smooth motion at the high shutter speeds.

@@airbazoo You really do not know what you are talking about. Digital stabilization cannot deal with blurred motion - you must use high shutter speeds to eliminate artifacts, jump, jitters. This is well known. So you must use high frame rates to smooth motion at the high shutter speeds needed (may not be as high as 1/200th, but it will surely be above 1/100th.

  • @markr041
    @markr041 2 месяца назад +2

My gosh! You cannot set the shutter speed at twice the frame rate in sunlight! Overexposure in spades! And you cannot use ND filters to reduce the shutter speeds, because the blur will muck up digital stabilization. There is no way to avoid high shutter speeds with an action camera shooting handheld video.

    • @maxx2174

because at least part of this just isn't true.
don't blindly trust all "the low bitrate is evil" hate spread on YT. It just isn't true. Many people who made in-depth tests showed that there are actually only very rare conditions where the lower bitrate has a noticable effect on the footage.
personally, i have checked all my moto vlogging (sportbike) with the new osmo for any visible issues and couldn't find any compared to my previous osmo action 4 - same hardware setup, different setting tests up to 4k50.
also, i have yet to see any "muddy face" and can't complain about highlight issues... maybe actually show what you're talking about and e.g. what seetings you were using.
anyway, calling out everyone a sponsored youtuber says all tbh...
