I have watched a lot of RGTM videos, and I only remember him losing 1 fish due to line brake, while he was fishing with Momma Sue and he was using 1 lb. test line. Other than that Richard always brings them in. God Bless you Richard, and God Bless each and everyone of you all.
He lost one more, crappie fishing with a minnow and 4 pound test, when he hooked a MASSIVE flat head but yeah it don’t happen often, because of Richard gene I like pushing my luck with the line to 😂 I use as light a line as I can get away with more fish and a whole lot more fun
I caught a flathead in Iowa today on a st croix panfish rod and 4 lb Mr. crappie fishing line on a 1/32 ounce jig head and a half inch jig while crappie fishing lol I didn’t weigh him but I guessed he’s 35+ and many people think it was 40. My 9 Year old son tanner helped me land it and I’m talking about whhoooo! The whole lake must have heard me whoooin! Richard thanks for everything you do to promote the sport of fishing and teaching me with each video!
@@ARCSTREAMS yep in a lil farm pond. I bet he walked me around it 10 times. The 3rd time I got him the bank when I was jus grabbin him the line broke and I jumped in after him and I GOT him😁
@@ARCSTREAMS if that fish had more water he'd have spooled me for sure. Also it was very hot and I kinda think she gave up pretty quick and luckily there wasn't anything to snag my line. That one guys story of a 30-40 pounder on 4lb though 🤔hmmmm fisherman do tell tales😁
@@ARCSTREAMS ya strange things do indeed happen when we're fishin. Man I'd love to fish for Pike and Walleye maybe someday I'll come up North and give it a try.
It's nice seeing you promote gear checks. Alot of "sporty" fisherman forget to check their gear. Ends up results in fish swimming around with rigs and excessive amounts of string. Great video man!!
Love these light tackle vids! What’s crazy is just yesterday, for fun I put some 10lb test mono I had rattling around the tackle on 2 of my combos, went and threw top water and shakey heads for bass..had fun, just took my time fighting down fish as RG calls it..heck of a lot of fun..
I've been an ultralight lover since I was a boy. 10lb test is NOT light tackle unless your fishing big cats, gar, stripers or the like. Pros use overkill levels of gear because that's how they eat and feed their families. They hydroplane 10lb+ fish to the boat with 30lb+ braid, utterly ridiculous. That's like the guys who hunt groundhogs with 50cals. There's no 'sport' involved if the fish doesn't have a chance. Did you catch any 10lb bass? I doubt it. You didn't need line that strong. I guarantee you would've caught more with 6lb line, especially on the jig. Richard is fishing for cats that produce 50lbs of power or more with 10lb line. Most don't understand that they lose fish because of 50lb hook sets with 10lb line, not because it was a "monster". The fish didn't break you off, you broke you off being way to aggressive with your drag set way too strong. Stop copying pros. KVD fished 80mph because he needed to cover water and get reaction bites; watch him with Zona or other shows, he's slower, more methodical, not in tournament mode. If you slow down and use lighter line you will catch more fish and have more fun. I bring in shovelheads, gar and big sauger and walleye regularly with 6lb test which is on most of my rods. It takes a while depending on the fish and temp, but you can get a saltwater fight in freshwater with light line and a properly set drag; No fight = no fun, imo. A toddler can bring in a 15lb bass on 40lb braid; that takes no skill at all.
Mr. Machine, I just want you to know that I do a lot more fishing and a lot more catching because of your content. Thanks for keeping it real. I have plenty of questions but for now my cheap little fishing kayak and I are doing fine. It is, indeed, GOOD FIR ME!
I love the Lews speed spool. I have a curado and I still like my speed spool better. I can set it and bomb cast hard baits and only need light thumb pressure at the end of the cast. Amazing reel.
Light tackle is fun! I was watching some other guy on RUclips the other day and he was water skiing every single fish he caught. I was like man slow down and lighten up, it ain't a competition!
Richard is THE HERO I've just recently subscribed but I've been watching for the past year and you sir are the fishing machine I'm local Tennessee valley born and raised and I spent my whole life on the Tennessee river theirs many things in your vids that bring me way on back! Talking bout wwwoooooo!💪👍catch anothern!
RGTFM you are the best! No better way to wind down a Sunday. Just read some Romans last nite before bed good stuff. May God Bless us all and fish on RGTFM.
It’s hard not to set the hook even when you tel yourself it’s a circle hook!! Haha even the machine jerks a little with circle hook! Great video. Been following this guy since he had 17,000 followers and still love each video.

He has taught me to downsize weight, hook, line, rod. Catch way more fish.

Why use a litter heavier than the line?
I remember that video! She kept saying “what was that?”
Dude I'm proud of ol boy. His channel has grown so much. I fish there on the 4th each year.

People tell me I'm crazy for using lite line but I like it and as long as you got your drag set you can land 30lbs on 10lb line.
