  • Here is a little Saturday adventure for you all. I did a 150-mile round-trip adventure in my Radiant Red 1996 Acura SLX Premium with 146,000 miles. Thanks for coming along for the ride.

    As always, this is awesome. It looks like a Mitsubishi Montero/Isuzu Trooper.. I didn't realize the Acura SLX goes back to 1996. Crown King Saloon looks so cool (I'm glad you included the old pic on the wall). Any place that has a sign-in book is OK with me. I'd like a local beer and a cheeseburger with "the works." 😎

      @@TysonHugie You DO know that I travel vicariously through you. I first thought we were heading for another installment of the "Junkyard Series" (those are fascinating too). I learned that the Prescott National Forest is made up of 1.25 Million acres, 2,500 miles of roads and was established in 1908. The historic Crown King Saloon & Cafe is the oldest continuously operated Saloon in the state of Arizona and has been open for 110 years. Originally built in the late 1800's, it was moved to its current location in 1906. 😉

      It was a really obscure model, only 1996-1999 and obviously based on the Isuzu Trooper. Only sold in the United States. Basically it was so Acura could sell an SUV before they had the MDX.

    This trip looks amazing - exactly the kind of adventure my wife and I enjoy. Absolutely love seeing the SLX being put through its paces.
    How is it holding up? Any maintenance or repairs planned for it in the near future?

      Oh it’s falling apart, haha. I’m thrilled I’ve been able to add about 7,000 miles in the last 5 years with it!!

    Acura Man - Enjoyed your adventure for a Saturday drive, Is your Acura SLX was that a replica of the 1994 Honda Passport ? I also believe but not sure in 1994 Honda did a partnership with Isuzu with their SUV, a friend of mine owned the Isuzu Rodeo back in the early 90's. The Salon and sites you explored reminded me of old Western movies. Loved your video - Dave from El Paso

      The SLX is mechanically the same as an Isuzu Trooper

    Are any of the C or J series engines swappable into the SLX, or is the Isuzu engine reliable enough for that to not be a consideration?

    • @TysonHugie
      @TysonHugie  2 месяца назад

      I don't think there are any real viable swap options, although Acura did put an RDX 2-liter turbo and SH-AWD into an SLX back in 2019 for a RADwood show vehicle.
